Well, he did release a cookbook, so now we can all learn to hand-grind singular acorns on a chunk of the finest diamond by the light of the moon on a winter solstice!
At first glance I thought it was a paintball range to be honest, but after looking I believe that /u/bluemandan is correct, I am pretty sure it's a bomb test range.
I took the coordinates onto OpenStreetMaps thinking that there may be some other information and found this here. From that information I was able to look up "Carson Sink Nevada" on google, which took me to this wikipedia article which mentions the Bravo-20 Live Bombing area. I am assuming that the big red square B-20 on the OSM Map is probably that. This makes sense to me as the structures that are all over that place look a lot like quickly built objects for the sake of testing explosives/weapons fire.
If you were feeling brave the other option could have been to call up the Humboldt State Wildlife Management Area and asked if they know anything about the area south of there. Of course I didn't do this so I can't blame somebody else for not doing it as well. I hate talking to people on the phone, especially if the question could be perceived as weird.
Of course it's possible that there is a government effort to cover up their alien communications by putting false information on wikipedia, with the hope that I will come along and further spread the misinformation...but it honestly looks like a weapons test site.
According to this Amazon description of Columbo: The Complete Series , there were 24 television movies in addition to the 69 series episodes. So more material to search? If you don't want to buy it yourself, maybe you can connect with someone who has the set, or perhaps find it in a local library.
It’s a crazy mystery called copyright.
Telepictures productions produced seasons 1-8. Warner took over from season 9 in 2006.
Telepictures never released the episodes for purchase or digitally, and no one cared enough to record every episode so there’s no torrent. They’re not lost media, “best of” moments were released on dvd every year. I can go buy s1 best of for 10$ on Amazon right now. Warner releases episode digitally and pay per view so they’re easier to rip and post online.
Mystery solved. You’re welcome.
Did you see The Hobbit (1966)? http://www.openculture.com/2014/06/the-hobbit-the-first-animation-film-adaptation-of-tolkiens-classic-1966.html
>Instead of the great Smaug, we have a dragon named “Slag.” Instead of pillaging The Lonely Mountain, he steals the treasure of the village of Dale. Instead of a troupe of dwarves, we have one General Oakenshield, a princess named “Mika,” and an unnamed watchman. Trolls and goblins become “Groans” and “Grablins,” and Gollum appears as “Goloom.”
It's apparently based off another spanish show, "La Familia Telerín", no idea if the included screenshot is from either of those. btw "miau" is spanish for "meow" so I'm expecting cats.
There used to be a podcast called Out There Radio that did an episode about the "Georgia Guidestones". On of the hosts named Raymond Wiley actually wrote a book about them.
> The fact his disappearance isn't well known
I have to disagree with you here. His disappearance got huge publicity at the time and for years afterwards. The movie based on his life came out a decade after his disappearance and was a hit. Not one but three official Glenn Miller Orchestras still perform. Per Wikipedia, there's a Glenn Miller museum, two annual Glenn Miller festivals, and even a stretch of highway named after him. The USPS put out a Glenn Miller stamp in the 90s.
There's books and documentaries out there that focus not just on his life, but specifically on his disappearance. And I swear to God, for my entire life, every year, at least one article titled something like "Glenn Miller mystery SOLVED" lol.
The only reason his disappearance isn't well known today because it happened 76 years ago. Fewer people are alive who can remember it. It's passing from major celebrity scandal/mystery to a footnote in historical curiosities.
Very interesting. I could speak more about this later, but the finding of this mine wouldn't be that hard if you just knew where to start. See Charles Kenworthy's books to get an idea of how a mine like this would be hidden. If it's pre-Pueblo Revolt it's likely to be even more hidden by the locals, if it's post-Revolt then it'll be better marked, but if you know how to follow the trail it's not THAT hard. Just on this side of improbable.
I lived in NM for 30 years and during that time have had the opportunity to learn from someone who knew a great deal about following the Spanish trail markers. It was quite an adventure, but unfortunately the lack of serious backers, and being stonewalled by the local government, kind of put a stop to that.
EDIT: Too far South for pre-Pueblo Revolt activities to cover it up.
