Options expired. Traders covering positions... It was just an anomaly for one day... The downward trend has continued today, as we have yet to find the bottom. I really think this collapse has been WAY oversold, but that's the market for ya... This is one of the best articles I've read in a while though. I hope the author's right... Hope we see a bottom soon folks, cause this one's gonna be ugly!
The best:
Schlumberger (Big Blue)
Halliburton
The rest:
Baker-Hughes (I would avoid them, because GE is a mess right now!)

Basically, as a recent grad, you are looking for field engineer jobs. They will most likely market them as 'Field Engineer'.
Some segments in field engineering are: D&M (Drilling and measurements), Wireline, Fraccing, Artificial Lift
I work at a bank and there are a lot of people who do trading. Any decent sized bank will have a trading desk and likely will have internships. A lot of companies have a finance department with people who run their hedge books. You might have to move if you really want to work in that field. Houston has a larger market than Dallas. Go to indeed and search "trader", "trading desk" , "commodity desk" , etc. and search nationwide.
Your degree would still be useful for credit analyst positions at banks that have oil & gas loans. All the major banks plus regional midsized banks like these https://www.fool.com/investing/general/2015/02/17/10-banks-with-significant-exposure-to-the-oil-indu.aspx
would have positions that you could apply for
You got that resume from the TAP class didn't you. My advice, throw that shit into the garbage and start again. My original look similar.
Here's what Version 2 looks like.
You more than have the qualifications to get in the door. Midland, TX is the current boomtown, but be willing to relocate anywhere. Hiring events and job fairs usually get you the first chance at a face-to-face and not have to worry about getting screened out by some fucking computer program.
Good luck dude. Sorry about OCS, been there before. Washed out of Primary in Navy flight school. Message me if you have any questions.
I'd recommend a Boost or Ensure product. They are designed for people who need nutrients or calories but cannot eat enough, whether it be due to appetite or sickness. They are extremely high in calories per ounce. The below one is 66 calories per ounce. To compare, I posted a high calorie protein powder, and it only comes out to 46 calories per ounce.

I’ve seen this book around my office quite a bit: Pipeline Rules of Thumb Handbook: A Manual of Quick, Accurate Solutions to Everyday Pipeline Engineering Problems
I had a good discussion a while back with the folks on /r/stocks about oil price. This was 4 months ago and so far so good. It's a crap shoot though. There are sooooo many factors that go into the market price and many of them can't be quantified like the general sentiment of the speculators. Here is a great article:
http://seekingalpha.com/article/3010096-when-it-comes-to-oil-prices-nobody-knows-anything
Basically, like the old adage goes it's not timing the market it's time in the market. Get in now while prices are low on quality companies and hold hold hold for a long time.
Here is an article in the OGF published in November that supports the point of view, as pointed out by Rupert.., that the current downturn could last another 10 years. https://www.scribd.com/doc/293155995/Oil-Price-Super-Cycles-OGFJ2015Nov
Honestly, If you get books done by a good enough actor, they are way better.
If you are interested in trying them, I can recommend you 2 great starts:
World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War and Storm Front: The Dresden Files, Book 1
The Offshore Imperative is a great history of Shell's exploration of the Gulf of Mexico. It's also part of a series of Oil and Business History books. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B005HTRJY4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_xSTaGbSAC7K2J
Do you have your license yet? I think with five years of experience, and some references you can take your PE exam and get your license. Also, Coursera (https://www.coursera.org/) has a shitton of free classes you can take. The PE license is only handy when you are doing reserves work or government work for the most part but maybe it's something worth at least looking into?
Something like this. North safety used to/does sell them. They were good for hot days.
And with the heat we have now, it’s a huge safety factor. They would need to be FR for use on oil rigs or in the field.
This stuff. It comes in bar soap too. No it isn't cheap but it is amazing soap.

$15 Energizer head lamp and a $15 brick of AAA batteries.
I must have at least 20 of these this between the house my personal vehicles, all the trucks and the shop. I love a good flash light but a head lamp is the way to go to free up both hands and keep the light where you’re looking.

Not an oilfield guy, but I have two suggestions.
If your looking for power, I love this flashlight. I use it for hunting. Just the right size. Really bright and it’s got a spare rechargeable battery so you can run for a long time.

The first 100 pages of this Book is really good for understanding all the components of a gas plant. If you're and engineer at one, the whole thing is a good read/reference. Although its a little pricey.

I have some decades old infantry feet so my experience may be different than yours. I have sweaty feet. I wear dress socks all year long sweaty feet. If you see a guy in FRs in North Dakota in winter wearing sandals that's me.

There are 24 stories in the book, some as short as 2 pages and others up to 10 pages in length. Twitter is most likely protected simply because it is a new account and hasn't been opened up yet but thanks for letting me know that! The book is available for sale on Amazon at this point in both paperback and Kindle/eReader versions. Here's the link: https://www.amazon.com/turmOIL-Short-Stories-Oil-Industry/dp/1662900465/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=turmoil+short+stories&qid=1594194389&sr=8-2
Published is defined as having prepared and issued a book, journal, piece of music, or other work for public sale. No mention of quantity of actually having made a sale is required.
The excerpt and entire book as been through two content and context editors and two proofreaders. Their feedback was positive but I'm open to any constructive criticism you might have. No scam intended so sorry if it struck you that way. Just offering a book of fictional short stories for you to read or not.
Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I was looking at the salary and it is way higher than my other offers. It appears from the offer I would be doing projects, which doesn't sound too exciting. I was hoping I would be involved with more design work but I guess at some point I would have to approve some drawings or verify some engineering requirements.
I was contemplating buys some books to help improve my knowledge on the subject.
Mechanical Design of heat exchangers
Any reading you would recommend?
No one is going to want that functionality. For the most part 2-ways are highly typical.
This is the one I use. It works great, but not many operators know which channels they operate on. Which is stupid.
My boyfriend got a portable food warmer for Christmas last year and he said it works pretty well if you remember to plug it in beforehand. It takes a few hours (2-3), but it comes with a Pyrex dish and holds quite a bit of food.

I would also recommend Leffler's Petroleum Refining in Nontechnical Language
The title sounds like it would insult your intelligence, but it's a very good intro to Lieberman's books if you're not well versed in crude distillation, hydroprocessing, FCC, reforming, alkylation, coking, etc
I took Alistair Brown's class and his textbook has since been an invaluable tool. He doesn't cover much with Kingdom but you'll learn that stuff through trial and error anyway. It's an excellent high level intro to seismic interpretation.
