The easiest and best solution IMO is a removable screen that covers the whole window by going over the top of the door. I am amazed that I almost never see them suggested on here:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YI3IGA6/
They are $20 for a set of 2, require no assembly or otherwise need to be “made” from multiple components, provide privacy (people can’t see in but you can see out pretty well), you can open the windows as much or little as you want, and they pack away into a tiny pouch (all 4 of my shades take up a space about half the size of a loaf of bread and can be stored anywhere).
I am currently using a Gazelle. If you unzip the opening it fits the back of my Prius v with the hatch open like a DREAM. I can also use it on the side of the car and have rigged an awning to help with any possibly rain by using small strong magnets and a small piece of rainfly. I attach it to the Gazelle (5 sides, screen, no floor, you can add screen pieces as needed) and while it does not offer an entry it does expand the Prius without making me have to step "outside." I use a foam/mesh mat that allows water to drain through and keeps the dirt to a minimum. It is large enough that it tucks up into the back of the car to keep out bugs that might make it under the bumper. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B084QDMQ8V/ref=twister_B085QP33DY?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 the mat is "adventure camping floor mat" from Aldi a few years ago. It's fab!
You can wire up a second battery in parallel with your main 12v and draw off the second one with a smart battery isolator in place. This will cut the current from killing the battery that you need to start the car. Also helps the battery last longer as it won't over drain. I used one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Isolator-Voltage-Sensitive-Watercraft/dp/B08T19NQ9W/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=smart+battery+isolator&qid=1622296895&sr=8-4

For $13 and a free app (dr prius) I was able to kill that gawd dang reverse beep! I asked two dealerships about doing it, the first said that "toyota" had told them they aren't allowed to do it because it could open them up to liability. And the other had no problem doing it, for $75!
I've been using a Journey OB660. It's a travel guitar that's carbon fiber so you don't have to worry about heat/cold. Has a pretty big sound for a little guitar, but it does cost a good bit

Have you shopped inverters? There are quite a number like this one which have regular outlets for plugging in your laptop charger, and also USB ports for charging your phone, etc.
The most common ones top out at 300W because that is the current limit of the cigarette lighter fuse. Ones with higher output need to be wired directly to the 12V battery, not plugged in to the lighter.
Do tell us what kind you get!
I purchased the box at REI in store, they have a 1year return policy which is invaluable in my opinion and free shipping to store.

I tried it this Amazon umbrella windshield shade on my gen 3 to help with the upcoming summer sun.
It misses about 5 inches up top but is still very convenient. I was previously using a diy custom reflectix sunshade but ended up repurposing it for my front side windows because it kept sagging.
I read reviews on how storage is a pain for the heatshield weathertec sunshades and decided to try my luck with this umbrella.
Width is almost perfect. It’s just lacking at the top but i have some tint up top anyways.
Materials are nice. We’ll see how it holds up. Comes in a little velour type bag. I use that to pad where it comes in contact with the dash. This model has a bendable center column before it turns into a handle which is def more versatile than the other models which don’t have that flexibility.
It seems to help with condensation as well, compared to my reflectix shade.
Just thought this might help anyone considering it.
I'd be happy to; i made a mistake in the brand name, which is probably why you couldn't find anything. I apologize for that.
Have you looked at portable displays? May be a good option and portentously usable in the Prius.
Here’s a random one I found on Amazon: ASUS 15.6" Portable Monitor (MB168B) - WXGA (1366 x 768), Auto-rotatable, Smart Case, Ultra-slim, Lightweight, Sleek, USB 3.0 Powered, For Laptop, PC, Phone, Console https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00FE690DI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_T8CXGDR4GCWFAXAZMTY7
This guy has been a super sourpuss in this subreddit to the point where I think he's just trolling.
There's plenty of safe and good ways to cook in/out of your prius, and to prove it I'll throw one in the pot: I like my hotlogic mini, it cooks food off of the cigarette lighter:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074TYC7DY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_KEFZJEFS6Y4EH7AK925N
Works great, you just need a little patience.
I’ve done this, works great! I have a 40L model. Remember to keep the exhaust fan unobstructed.
Note: I didn’t go the hardwire route. I found using something like this is flexible, cheap and instant.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00H3R9S1K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_cyO0FbPJC6FN1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I have been using this to secure my dividing curtain and 1 strip of it does manage to hold the whole thing up, and its reasonably heavy, but that's only because I have stuck some actual Velcro to each of the plastic central columns which helps a lot. I don't think you would be able to hold all the panels with only this and the Natural roof lining
For that price I would rather get a full awning/gazebo. I was looking at this one myself :
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KT783ZC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabt1_Ob0SFbJA6B862
I like it because it has that one "privacy" wall thing. That would be on the far side away from the car.
I've never had an air mattress that didn't leak. I thought it was me but it's such a big problem that several air-mattress companies have gone out of business...because they pretty much all will develop leaks.
I know it's not what you were asking, but just my opinion that the air mattresses are going to cost you more in the long run, so I went with the solid but foldable setup.
I just do weekend camping and I use the trifold mattress that many others here also use, from Amazon. It wasn't enough for me to sleep on my side though, so I got 3-inch thick foam slabs from Walmart in the crafts section. They are green, 24" wide, and around 36" long so you'll need two. I put the foam down first and the mattress on top of it, and it sleeps incredibly well.
No problem. I haven't told my family and only told 3 close friends about my decision to Prius dwell due to the stigma, so I enjoy talking about this with whoever I can. I think this is the one I got: AMAZON LINK
I recommend a Prius v (wagon) as every little bit of extra room helps. :) But either way, with the amount of use and wear you will be putting on the car simply by living in it, I would recommend going used. The Prius is extremely reliable. I had the option to get an extended warranty for an extra $1200 on mine, but I talked to a trusted mechanic, and he told me there was no need. And in the off chance something does break, there are plenty of used Prius parts you can get for cheap.
That's probably because the majority of people who buy things like car fridges and inverters are truckers, who often sleep in their truck. There's usually nothing specific to the type of car other than the max wattage you can run without blowing a fuse. As far as I know around ~200w seems to be standard on most vehicles, including trucks. You should be able to safely run a ~150-200w inverter with your cigarette lighter socket. Just make sure to get one with an auto shut off option if you plan on leaving it plugged in 24/7, otherwise depending on the make it might drain your battery. Some also have noisy fans as well, if that bothers you then look for a silent one.
I just ordered https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LO20AIK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to use in my prius, it arrives tomorrow. I just need it to charge my phone/laptop, and drill batteries for work, so a cheap solution is what I went with.
I don't like the grabber type phone holder but I need the long neck. So, I combined 2 products.
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0773F8S74/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B019T4RBQ8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Something like this one is all you can run off the, um, powerpoint aka lighter. The lighter has a fuse that will blow above that amount of drain. (n.b. the fuses are found in a box under the hood and if you're going to fool with this stuff you might carry spare fuses and know how to change them.)
What you want is something like this one which needs to be connected directly to the 12V battery. That lives in the back, you know where? Any auto-electric outfit that does stereo installations and such, should be able to do a neat job of connecting it. You'd want to find a way to stabilize it so it doesn't ramble around the trunk when you hit the brakes. Velcro, duct tape, something.
And yes, the Prius 12V battery is a pitiful little thing that won't stand putting out 1000W for very long, unless the vehicle is in "run" mode, then it gets charged continually.
I just ordered one on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Noggle-Conditioning-Comfortable-Traveling-Quatrefoil/dp/B00LXT23RU/ref=sr_1_3?crid=IQQT8WOP4QFS&dchild=1&keywords=air%2Bconditioner%2Btube&qid=1584827978&sprefix=air%2Bconditone%2Btube%2Caps%2C203&sr=8-3&th=1
Hopefully it works and doesn't stick out too much since it would run through the side from the front to the back.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N6KTU29/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
You may have to break it in a bit first. May be a bit firm. As for the feet I have a sit down job and mostly sit anyway. Have a bit of a issue with my leg. i use a pressure wrap or sock. If you are active you can probably get some circulation going with walking and stuff.
I have also found the face mask is really needed for good sleep although I have done without. For a bit when my brothers car was damaged and we went in together my shift started later(2nd shift) so I had to get a good portion of my sleep in the car at work with it very bright out side.
https://wwww.amazon.com/dp/B08R3B946X
I don’t use it on the steering wheel because I’m too tall and it just sits awkwardly on my knees but I go to the back and put it over the drivers headrest.
It can hold my 24 inch monitor with no issues. I can also put my laptop on it as well and work on it.
I don't think the coffee pot is a big deal. It's a big draw, but only for a few minutes -- that amount of wattage will heat that amount of water REAL fast.
As long as all your heavy DC wiring is solid and rated for 200+ amps, and it should be if you're attaching a 2000W inverter, then running 1400W into a coffee pot shouldn't stress it at all. And the car will replenish the energy back into the batteries in fairly short order -- if you're using 150A for 2 minutes, then recharging at 50A will take 6 minutes to get back where you started. A non-issue.
To boil water a bit slower and gentler, pick up a little immersion heater. This only draws about 300 watts so it takes a lot longer, but the inverter won't even break a sweat. (That's roughly 30A from the DC side.)
Note that there are 12-volt versions of the immersion heater too, but read the reviews -- moving that amount of power at the lower voltage means much higher currents, and they tend to have problems with the plugs melting. (Or blowing the lighter-socket fuses.) Don't do that! The lighter socket is not wired for heavy current, it's just meant for charging phones and stuff -- darn thing can't even support an old-fashioned cigarette lighter! By putting the load on the thick-as-a-sausage DC wiring you're adding with your batteries and inverter, you'll sidestep the wimpy lighter-socket wiring, so you can draw more power more safely.
Just to be perfectly clear, expect to spend a few hundred bucks on wiring, terminals, fuses, circuit breakers, and cable protection (nylon braided sleeving, etc) to get this all wired up in a way that's not a total fire hazard.
This. Millard TRI fold. No idea why link is so long...
But this mattress is what I'm using rn and it's great. I actually took out the 3rd part of it, so it's mostly a 2-fold mattress. And my feet dangle off - I just have blankets there. Just easier to fold up.
Before you buy, MAKE SURE YOU MEASURE!
Here is my recommendation... This transforms any terrible bed or in this case terrible plastic... Into an unbelievably comfortable bed.. and it's super easy to work with you can cut it with a razor... WEEKENDER 2 Inch Memory Foam... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071CQ91RP?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Just throw an inverter in. I have a 2000-watt, modified sine wave inverter under the front seat ($149 at HF), jumper cable wires ($29 at HF), a disconnect switch ($15) that turns on the inverter only when the car is on and a 100 amp fuse ($12).
I turn the car on and I can run an instant pot, air fryer or Kerig-style coffee pot (I have the coffee pot mounted on the console for easy "on-the-go" caffeine). You will never regret spending the $200 when you can make coffee or tea on the go.
A 12 volt solution would be a RoadPro ($36) oven, which plugs into the power port. That will heat a frozen meal, cook rice, bake a potato, etc. in about 30 minutes. I use bread loaf pans in mine, lined with foil to make cleanup a breeze (about $0.89 each). I make up and freeze the meals I need and put them in the cooler.
Whichever way you go, I highly recommend a little rechargeable portable fan like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T96D16V?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Then you can run the AC really cold right before bed and roll up all the windows to keep it cool in there for as long as possible with the engine turned off. The fan will make it much more comfortable. You may have to turn the AC on again half way through the night and repeat the procedure but you’ll save a lot of gas and maybe wear on your car.
These car window shade covers are fairly inexpensive and allow you to roll down the windows while maintaining some privacy however, they’re mesh.
It's this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0998D5GRQ
Somewhat mixed reviews. We'll see how it works. Most of the negatives seem like something that comes with using it in a larger area like a house or outdoors. I imagine since we are using it in a small car space that it will be more effective.
Just buy this mattress
Milliard Tri Folding Mattress... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00W67PAPK?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Fits folded up in the back with the seats up for storage, you don't have to cut to fit to lay it out, and it's so comfortable that you need to make no mods to your car.
All of that wood is too much for me. I just use a cooler behind the passenger front seat and the center console to span the gap behind the front seats with a little piece of plywood that hides in the hatch under the trifold cushion (4").
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00W67PJ4M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The trifold fits neatly in the hatch with the back seats up with room for pillows and blanket. It is the exact size for folding the passenger side rear seat down flat. Because of the color, mine looked soiled after 3 years, but I was able to buy a new cover for $30.
I recently bought a very similar one. I haven’t used it in my Prius Prime yet, but have slept on it a few times in my house to test it, and it does the job.https://www.amazon.com/dp/B091JPL6R4
I got this and am happy with it:
It kinda fits in my 2022 LE AWD and is very comfy.
Not exactly small when folded, though.
I used this for a year, takes up some space but it fits in the trunk. There’s even a sale on it right now for $75. Olee Tri Folding Mattress
Milliard is also a respected brand that gets recommended here a lot.
If you have more money to spend, I recently bought the Exped MegaMat 10 from REI and that is a self inflating mattress which is extremely comfortable and packs down really small. Can’t speak on longevity yet though, but the reviews are really solid.
It’s tough, getting my cat stolen or getting broken into is a major source of anxiety for me especially since the latter has already happened to me while I was away from the car.
To combat the thieves and the mental exhaustion, I’ve written off mentally everything in my car and my cat. I’ve also installed a cat shield. I don’t keep anything sentimental in the car and I’ve tinted all my windows. I have pepper spray in the car. I keep setting money aside in an emergency fund and if the inevitable happens then I’m prepared.
I’m thinking of getting one of those “thief deterrent lights” It’s only $10 and maybe it can make someone reconsider?
Why did Toyota have to make the cat with these precious metals ughhh 😂 Good luck man stay safe and enjoy your time with your family
I don’t see any responses yet so I’ll add my fridge here, not sure if it’s the best option but it’s been working well for me.
My fridge is an Alpicool C20
I have a 2007 Prius and it fits perfectly in my passenger front seat. It’s not the biggest so it requires more stops to the grocery store but I have not had any complaints with it. It’s really energy efficient and keeps my food cold with no issues. I power it with a Jackery 500 but you can power it with lower powered options as well. It uses around 40 watts.
I was contemplating getting the Alpicool C40 and fitting it in between the gap for sleeping, but I was worried about it making noise and bothering me while sleeping so I decided against it. If I slept with my head at the trunk maybe I would have done it but I prefer my head being nearing the steering wheel.
If money is not a concern then sure, but before investing that amount I’d try and get a camping table something like this that takes up less space than a folding table but still have enough counter space and do a test run. If you find that’s working well for you and the space savings would be worth it to upgrade to the table you linked, then you can sell or return the camping table and upgrade.
There’s another aspect of finding those parking lots that you can comfortably work out of outside especially if you’re in more of an urban setting but I’m sure if you’re committed it can be done.
Libraries and service plazas on the highway are my go to if I ever need to do something from my laptop.
I had a minivan all set up for travel and loved it until a family member totaled it. Now I have a Prius. With the Prius, I can leave it in On/ Ready mode, use ventilation, even low heat, and sleep in comfort. It draws from the hybrid storage batter, comes on as needed to recharge that battery. Can use the cig lighter & inverter and keep laptop charged and heat water, etc. I haven't used the AC on Ready mode, but people do.
I rigged something similar to a Habitent form a beach shelter; sets up the same way, snugged up w/ clips on magnets. For sleep privacy, I set up a dream tent inside and use a window cover on the hatch, secured by a bungee. Not stealthy, but ok.
Not much headroom. Easier for guys; get a medical pee bottle.
Friend has a Prius V, loves it; they're a nice size.
Before investing in a kitchen setup, I was primarily eating at chipotle and stuff and even though my setup has an upfront cost to it, it is 10000% more worth it and I’m able to do everything inside.
My setup is:
Jackery 500 [amazon](www.amazon.com/dp/B07SM5HBK1)
Alpicool C20 fridge [amazon](www.amazon.com/dp/B075R1LH8D)
Dezin Hot Pot [amazon](www.amazon.com/dp/B07MSDMT1G)
Rice Cooker [amazon](www.amazon.com/dp/B07Q81ZPGV)
The hot pot is the game changer. The 150 watt setting on the hot pot uses around 250 watts or so on the Jackery but it heats up quickly and is able to boil water. I’m able to cook chicken, steak, mushrooms, eggs, basically anything I want on it. I roll down the windows, place the hot pot on the center console and am able to cook from the drivers seat.
The rice cooker uses around 300 watts and is able to cook rice very quickly.
The fridge uses around 30 watts or so and that plugs right into the 12 volt on the Jackery. Keeps food cold and I’ve had no problems with it.
The Jackery gets charged by my Prius and since I sleep with the car on most nights, I never have to worry about it draining.
A usual day of cooking only uses around 20% of the battery which gets charged up quickly by the Prius.
This is what I use:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09NBQW6D2
It's in my trunk attached to a ring. It's a good lock, sturdy, not easily pickable, and fits quite a bit. I just take the battery out of my smart key and I think that does the trick.
I got this one. A stroller fan alleged to output 60 hours on low. I like what I've seen so far but haven't been able to put it through its paces yet since I'm not traveling.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0928M9JX5?psc=1&ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_product\_details
It's not the best, but it works fine and is small enough to store in the center arm rest.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TCLB39D?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
This fan has saved me! I definitely recommend it. I place it on my console and have it blow air towards the back. I only open the current about 2 inches.
That's way more inverter than you need, and more than the Gen-III can power continuously. The white cable connecting the DCDC (up front) to the battery (in the back) is fused at 125A and you shouldn't load it beyond 100A to reduce the chances of blowing the fuse accidentally when charging currents are added in. And it's not a user-replaceable fuse; it's part of the battery terminal assembly and designed to save you from a fire, but because it should be impossible to blow it in normal operation, it's designed to send you to the dealer for service so they can figure out what tried to burn your car down. Don't blow it.
100A * 12v * 85% efficiency (typical for inverters) = 1020 Watts. So that inverter is fine but it's oversized. (Although 1500 Chinese watts is probably around 1000 American watts...)
Anyway, whatever inverter you pick, I would put a 100A breaker on it, specifically this one: https://www.amazon.com/Blue-Sea-Systems-Circuit-Breakers/dp/B0051P01BW/
That way the resettable breaker trips before the you're-fucked fuse blows.
All that being said, I have a 34-inch LG ultrawide monitor, and it just uses a 19v laptop brick. I can and have run it from a 12v-to-19v brick like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Charger-ThinkPad-Notebook-Computers/dp/B095SF992Q/
Which just plugs right into the lighter socket because it's only a few watts and I'm not trying to run an Instant Pot at the same time so I don't need a kilowatt of insanity.
I bought this Giandel 1200Watts Pure Sine Wave Power Inverter in May 2020. I've been happy with it. I can run most anything that draws 800watts or less power. I like that this unit does not draw power when it's shut off. Some hot appliances will not work with it but I have found a keurig clone coffee maker that runs great and other appliances that will work. Power tools, air pumps work fine. I was able to power both my homes refrigerator (with ice maker off) and freezer at the same time for 15 hours during a power outage. I just ran long extension cords. They make a 1500watt inverter that looks nice too.

This is the mattress I use, and it fits perfectly in my gen ii with the passenger seat pushed forward a bit. I can keep one half of the back seats up and it still works nicely!
Simplest way to shade the front/rear windows are window “socks”. Basically material you put on like a hat over the entire top of the door. You can leave the window up to roll it down.

Careful on the front window — may not cover the front 1/3.
Also they apparently stretch and get baggy over time.
I’m working on some coroplast / reflectix version that will have ventilation at the top.
Same car here. If you don't end up building a platform this is the mattress I got. It fits perfectly on the passenger side. You just need to put a piece of firm 3/4 to 1 inch foam under the floorboard to eliminate the hump. Talking about the kids size mattress, by the way.

Got this trifolding mattress for our weekend trips. It folds up and fits perfectly in the back space of our 2014 Prius V. It's extremely comfortable and I have no problem side sleeping on it. We also use it in our house for guest when we need an extra bed. Highly recommend!
Got these and they work great. Doesn’t come with rear window covers though so I just cut a peace of cardboard that I unfold and slide in the wedge of the window.
I use a 25" x 25" x 4" x 72" long Millard tri-fold mattress. It folds up perfectly into the under hatch area, and fits exactly with the 2016 Two passenger seat folded down.
You can buy at Amazon for about $100, or you can just buy the outer cover for $30 and supply your own foam. Here's a link to the cover:

What generation Prius do you have?
I have a 2nd gen and I can fit a 23 x 18 x 18 inches cooler in the back and my bed nicely lays flat. I had to remove the wheels of the cooler though to make it sit completely flat. amazon
I use the cooler as storage and I have an Alpicool C20 in the front.
I was thinking of buying a Alpicool C40 and replacing that with the cooler and laying my mattress on top of the fridge however I wasn’t sure if the fridge making sounds was going to bother me or not so I opted for the smaller fridge in the front seat.
Best of luck in making ur decision keep us updated!
It'll change your life the Wellex Pad I sleep more comfy on that then any other pad and it rolls up to a decent size.

Get one of those and put it on the orange wires going into the inverter. Not the three wires going to the transmission
I don’t know why you would actually be trying to accomplish this because it says ready on the dash
Can you just skip out on the food safe wipes, and put soap and water in the unit, run it, rinse?
Also, how about some more examples of meals you've made with the rice cooker? Any good beef/chicken meals?
Would you go with this one, considering it would probably fit under the trunk space in that vehicle? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08QZ9LJY1/
I am absolutely in love with my mattress, which was recommended by a youtube prius dweller (they guy who keeps a big stuffed dog in his front seat): https://www.amazon.com/Milliard-Folding-Mattress-Removable-Non-Slip/dp/B07KWFNHMH/ref=pd_bap_m_csi_pd_ys_c_rfy_rp_crs_0?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_w=vk9yW&pf_rd_p=9ac6cc26-c474-44d5-bbf8-fa96b06e33ac&pf_rd_r=QMGE2A2HKNH2R6MK89EV&pd_rd_r=...
Remove the physical key portion from the fob and hide it under the car - it will let you unlock the front door only. It’s tiny so it’s easy to zip tie in a hidden spot.
Then put the rest of the fob inside of a faraday bag and hide that somewhere inside the car. The faraday bag will prevent the car from recognizing the key as inside.
Oh yes, I can confirm that the car has trouble starting sometimes now. I keep this portable jump starter handy and it never fails:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09KLCD71F/
I am planning on upgrading to a high-capacity LiFePo battery and solar panels probably by the summer, so I'm prepared to write the existing battery off
I have a 2017 Prius.
This front windshield cover and side mirror covers were a godsend:

Don't waste your time with this rear windshield cover Rear Windscreen Snow Cover: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H27TQC7?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Sorry, one more thing, not sure if it matters, but I’ll also be swapping the Toyota battery for this I’ll be getting another for the leisure.
Is this right for the MRBF fuse, and the Victron cyrix-120 isolator? ~ apart from that I’ll just have some 2AWG wire custom made
Weird the link isn’t working …...
I’ll actually be buying two of these batteries - one as the starter and the other as the leisure
Pick up a jump starter and keep it in the car just in case. I have the NOCO unit and it's already saved my ass once. I've come up on several people with dead batteries (including a large truck) and been able to easily jump start them as well. There are many cheaper models, but this is the one I carry in my car:
https://www.amazon.com/NOCO-GB40-UltraSafe-Lithium-Starter/dp/B015TKUPIC/
Agreed. Like this. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08WTNVPB7 They are everywhere (particularly Asian grocery stores) and the canisters are cheap. Go get a pot and utensils cheap from a Thrift Store and you are up and running.
Purchased individually, each can costs something like $5 at REI (probably much cheaper elsewhere, they are overpriced at Amazon though) and lasts a surprisingly long time. Personally, I went with a BLUU Mount stove that will take propane, isobutane or butane, but other stoves may vary. I also picked up a Lindal Valve (see below) which gives me the flexibility to refill the cans as needed. Cheap butane fuel is available at local discount stores in my area for about $5 per 3-pack of 8oz "tall" cans which I use to refill the short cans.
Np, if you need somewhere to start, I use this inverter https://amazon.com/dp/B082MDRC64 and a sunbeam electric blanket. There's probably better options out there, but those for sure worked. And the inverter is pretty simple to install, you just put the clamps on the 12V battery in the back of the car

I have a Milliard Tri Folding Memory Mattress with Washable Cover (75 inches x 25 inches x 4 inches) it works great! When it's folded it fits behind the seats & is long enough to go from the passenger seat to the hatch. Here are some pics of it in my Prius.
That's what I thought and not needing any fasteners was very appealing to me.
I also like that all but the large hatch shade are reversible one side black the other silver.
I like the window socks for $12.95 plus tax from Amazon they are a bargain work well to keep bugs out and let airflow while being very stealthy. They are great if someone else is driving and you want to work on a laptop, they limit glare a lot!
Brilliant, thanks for the tip. Wish I had known!
I got the Viofo A129 because it's recommended on /r/dashcams a lot. Also got the hardwire kit so it can record parking footage when the car is powered off. (Don't forget, you also need a microsd card!)
Not the most beautiful device or the best UI, but for me, a dashcam is a set-it-and-forget-it kind of accessory. It does the job and it stays out of my way.
FWIW I installed it myself and dismantling all the trim to run wires from the front to the tailgate was a huge PITA. Learned a lot though!

It was new. But you’ll have to cut it if you want it running like this.. if not look for single tri fold
Use something like maybe? Attached to some kind of arm that points to middle of the car.
https://smile.amazon.com/VIVO-Bracket-Horizontal-Assembly-MOUNT-VW02A/dp/B01CUSHR1O
Or portable monitors on tablet mount, which has its own batteries.
I haven't tried it but the concept of this fan seems promising. You put it on top of your window and roll it almost all the way up. Not sure if this would interfere with your rain guards, but this allows the fans to pull air out of the car and exhaust it directly out of the window. Solar powered during the day, USB powered at night. 10k mah Battery bank would last all night easily.
They have cheaper ones with less fans also.
You got me thinking about this for myself. I'm thinking about buying this and clipping it to the handle or window.
I just hang it on the 'oh shit' handle. I've been trying to get another one in but I need a bar along the passenger side for this.
Hey! I use these wet bags. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075JH9GGS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_H1F729GY46RH6P4PPQ83?psc=1&vs=1
There are 3 bags in the wet bag set. The biggest can be used for a change of clothes. I put everything I need to shower in the medium sized wet bag. I hang them on whatever shower hooks PF has.
Not technically a shower bag, but they’re waterproof and have worked wonders for me.
You can get a relatively cheapo multi meter with A clamp (https://www.amazon.com/Etekcity-Multimeter-MSR-C600-Auto-Ranging-Multimeters/dp/B00NWGZ4XC/ref=sxin_13) and measure your battery usage when "nothing" is going on. Probably you have something that is still plugged in and drawing power. Then it is just to identify those and if they need to be plugged in all the time then maybe something like Jackery battery that you charge when the car is running is the most cost effective solution.

Microwave recommended distance is more like a foot or under. 12 feet would mean the majority of kitchens would be a no go.
https://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/10/health/10real.html
If you have a way to power the microwave I would recommend getting an electric pot from amazon, you can get them for around 40 dollars and they’re easy to heat soups, rice, eggs, and other goodies with. That would expand what you can cook easily.

How did you like the inflatable? It hurt my back and i moved to this tri-fold mattress which I think is as comfortable as a bed. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0742B6F1H/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Your best bet might be one of these under bed safes but you are really looking for a glorified locker that will fit somewhere in your Prius.
https://www.amazon.com/SnapSafe-Under-Safe-Storage-Security/dp/B07831CKL7
These are the lights I use. I have like 3 of them, love the light they give out and they’re solar rechargeable.
I bought this one:

Thank you I appreciate the link. I actually really really enjoy micro histories, so just as good reading I am all about this.
Here is one about the pencil and another about baking soda that I thoroughly enjoyed. I look forward to reading this one about Glocks
The app that comes with it, works on ios... but for 13 and if you are happy, good to go. I got this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PJPHEBO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Because the Dr Prius devs said it is good, and it is! also around $13. But, the more expensive one gives a ton more data. TPMS per tire, and reads a whole lot more codes. I talked to the Dr Prius devs and they said their app is more focused on batteries, which is cool. But I want to see more.
oh Hey! hahah I picked one up today. I have been eyeballing them for a while. I also got one of these as I want to have a slightly more comfortable hand washing / "sinkish" experience. I figure I can use this with my collapsable water container some how.
I had problems with my fuse. I got a switched fuse https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LW1C0DX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and it had a big voltage drop. So, make sure you get a good fuse.
