I have the leatherbound paperbacks and really like them. The leather covers make it easy to take with me without worrying about them getting damaged, plus the whole set is only a little more than $50 on amazon and I've seen them in bookstores for as low as $35. The only drawback with the paperback set is the small print, so if you have trouble with that then definitely go for the hardcovers.
If you're going to provide pirated material, at least give people the source so they can purchase it if they'd like to support the creators!
They are from the official Lands of Ice and Fire map book, which you can buy on amazon https://www.amazon.com/Lands-Ice-Fire-Game-Thrones/dp/0345538544
Yeah, I can agree on some. I own this series as well https://www.amazon.co.uk/Song-Ice-Fire-Volumes/dp/0007477155 and it has a sleek look that doesn't look too bland like some other versions, like the ones sold in most bookstores, which are all black with just a symbol on them and a big sticker slapped on them saying "THE ORIGINAL TO THE SUCCESSFUL HBO SERIES GAME OF THRONES"...just ruins the look.
AFAIK, this map is from the media of which we do not speak, as evidenced by the eastern portion which isn’t canon since the release of the TLOIAF maps. The Lands of Ice and Fire is what you’re looking for if you want beautiful and accurate maps.
Here’s a reddit post of the HQ world map from TLOIAF.
The Rogue Prince (reign of Viserys I) -> The Princess and the Queen (Targ civil war after Viserys' death) -> Dunk and Egg (starts during reign of Aerys I, should end with death of Aegon V, most hasn't been written) -> A Song of Ice and Fire (starts during reign of Robert I, ends with reign of ???)
The World of Ice and Fire contains no spoilers besides Joffrey being dead. If you're coming in from the show, you should have no worries about major spoilers in any of the works.
In fact, I recommend you start with The World of Ice and Fire. You'll appreciate the context when you start reading the main works. Also, you should buy <em>The Lands of Ice and Fire</em> and follow along with the maps as you read (it makes everything a lot less confusing).
You're going to have a good time. Welcome to the books, and have fun! :)

I have this map pack and it's fantastic. I have a few of them framed up on the walls, I highly recommend buying them!
Martin has written for television. Television deadlines are unremitting. Martin knows how to hit a deadline.
In On Writing, Stephen King says, "Don't wait for the muse...this isn't the spirit world we're talking about here, but just another job...Your job is to make sure the muse knows where you're going to be every day from nine 'til noon or seven 'til three."
King also says the writer needs to close the door to outside world. Literally. Martin, with all his extracurriculars, has chosen to not close that door. He has chosen to not finish his book.
Ahh well if you're going digital I recommend audible. You can start a free trial and basically listen to it for free if you can do it in 30 days or less.
That's definitely usable in English, just doesn't get used often in real life. Here's a google ngrams on it
Link for amazon. $30 is a steal.

It is an archaic meaning of the word: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/stark
GRRM might also have chosen it because of one of the other meanings, like "rigidly conforming (as to a pattern or doctrine)".
I am one of those people who finds that spoilers improve the reading experience. Initially, the show was a good time to bond with my show-only friend, and they always came to me for additional background material from the books, but at some point the show just stopped making sense, and became more about spectacle than plot and character development. I still watch it, but it has no more relevance in my mind to the books than mediocre Internet fan fiction.
The graphic novel versions are also worth a look. Even if you have read the novellas they are worth it, very well done and enjoyable. Here's the digital versions which go on sale from time to time.
All the Chapters (The Canadian version of Barnes and Noble) locations had it out of stock in store and online so i just ordered it off Amazon. Have you seen the illustrated edition for A Clash of Kings, which is coming out this November? It looks amazing. I can't wait to get both. https://www.amazon.ca/Clash-Kings-Illustrated-George-Martin/dp/1984821156/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=a+clash+of+kings&qid=1558909557&s=gateway&sr=8-2
It’s the same price on Amazon. I snagged a copy today for my first read.
Fire & Blood: 300 Years Before A Game of Thrones (A Targaryen History) (A Song of Ice and Fire Book 1) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C6TBTV3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_fvSbEbHAQ73CD
> If you want hardbacks and illustrutations though, you can go with anniversary editions.
I tried Google, but didn't come up with anything. Did you mean the <strong>Illustrated</strong> edition?
If money is no option, the Folio Soicety's are by far the best that have ever been released, both in terms of aesthetics and how enjoyable they are too read. Two have been released this far, with the rest of the series forthcoming.
Otherwise, Bantam's Illustrated Editions are decent enough. They're nowhere near the quality of the Folios, but still decent hardbacks with some art included. The first two have been released, with ASOS coming in a few months.

Hi there. This is a result of our CSS/style sheet updates we did many months ago. We changed the colours, font, layout, etc to its current state. (I don't really know how to work any of that stuff, but /u/Topped2013 did a great job with it.)
I noticed almost immediately afterwards that this change is what caused the sidebar to disappear in mobile browsers. As far as I'm aware there is no fix for this, but again I'm not an expert on this design stuff.
I strongly recommend using the App Relay for Reddit (/r/RelayForReddit) if you're on android. I've tried a lot of Reddit apps and it is by far my favourite one. Very smooth browsing interface, and best of all it gives you access to the sidebar!
