I've found a workaround here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lagache.sylvain.ice_android
It's an "In case of emergency" app that's visible in the lockscreen, via notification. Enough for me.
I found a way to do this. Install this app called Storage Analyser and Disk Usage. Go to the tab labelled File Categories in the side-scroll menu at the top, tap on OTHERS and delete the files.
The app WalP, stock wallpapers is "all" that it does. You'll find pretty much any stock wallpaper from almost all makers there is. I bought the pro version myself, because ads

Vanced Settings.
To mention a few:
- tap to seek feature (which has been removed from the original app)
- pure black theme
- swipe contols like in vlc
- removing stories and other stuff from yt home streen
- many more: features
They've gone back to Snapdragon. Looks like the 8 pro having the MediaTek didn't work out. Lack of dev support and stalled MIUI 11 update rollout.
Also I wish they would reduce the number of device names. https://www.kimovil.com/en/compare/xiaomi-redmi-note-8-pro-global-6gb-128gb,xiaomi-redmi-note-9-pro-128gb-global,xiaomi-redmi-note-9-pro-max,xiaomi-redmi-note-9s
If the Microsoft app doesn't work, try using KDE Connect. It works wonderfully for me:
Windows download: https://binary-factory.kde.org/job/kdeconnect-kde_Release_win64/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/kdeconnect-kde-1.4-482-windows-msvc2019_64-cl.exe
Playstore app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.kde.kdeconnect_tp
you don't use nova for that, as it doesn't do it in the "correct way".
You can set wallpaper the correct way if you do NOT do it with nova settings but go through regular settings and under Background set the one you want.
Sure, I will at some point experiement more with disabling miui optimisations but will do that at a point where I'm ok to factory reset.
But, I use poco launcher now as it does what I want pretty much. And, since it's from xiaomi and made for miui it does things the miui way. The default launcher needs some extra things to enable app drawer and lacks a bit that poco launcher does.
Have you tried installing GCamator and then downloading the APK listed in the app?
