Pregnant women can avoid toxoplasmosis by simply wearing gloves while changing the litter box. If your cat spends a great deal of time outdoors, wash your hands after having contact with the cat as well. Technically, toxoplasmosis is transmitted in feces, but since it is difficult to separate feces from urine in a litter box, precautions should be taken when dealing with either.

But you seemed set on getting rid of your long time cat companions anyway so, That being said, the best way to get rid of the odor is Odorban. Because the cats can still smell it they mark again. Good luck with finding them a home. It could be more than just a UTI that is causing this. Another trip to the vet is in order to rule out diabetes or another underlying illness.

Put a post on nextdoor.com or facebook groups asking people if they would love to adopt this friendly cat or ask no kill shelters around you if they would take him in. He seems like he was an indoor pet lost or abandoned. Don't let him be an outside cat. He seems to sweet. If I lived close by I would adopt him. Looks like a nice sweet cat :)

If you have the ability to adopt another kitten too, it is certainly a possibility!
I had a blind kitty. You wouldn't have known it though. As long as you didn't move the furniture, he did fine. It will take her a little bit to learn her way around. Her age might mean it takes her a little longer but she'll get there. If she likes catnip, give her some of that. My cats go nuts for Yeoww toys, especially the banana and rainbow. Get her steps for the bed if you don't have them already. I got toys that had a rattle in them, things that made noise. My blind boy's favorite was an octopus.
Amazon has a ton of “cat recovery suits”. If you have t shirt fabric and basic sewing supplies you can easily make one based on this one I also was able to make a collar out of a stretchy enough sock.
i would suggest these
seriously though as Kaylafish said, start now by associating the carrier with good things. food, treats, scritches.. try to make her feel it's a safe space.
i haven't been able to get mine to go there automatically, but i've seen posts where people have taught their cats to go to the carrier if a fire alarm or tornado alarm goes off.
