This is a follow-up from my WIP post
Original model: Origami Greater Stellated Dodecahedron by Meenakshi Mukerji, instructions from her book Exquisite Modular Origami
I know the colors don't look exactly like the model in the game, but I think it still looks pretty cool!
About a month ago, the devs posted on their website that although they've been busy with university and such, there is a new patch available through Steam's beta program.
It seems like it's just bug fixes and optimizations at the moment, but it shows they still are dedicated to the game.
The huge problem with RoR right now is that it was created in GameMaker 8. GameMaker Studio, the most recent version, is much much more efficient. Hopoo is currently having RoR ported to Studio; when that finishes, there will be an update pushed out. There is also a chance that it'll become available on Mac and Linux (cross-platform multiplayer is iffy). Anyway, GameMaker Studio should allow your clearly decent PC to play through an entire game at 60 FPS. There's an article on the blog, here http://riskofraingame.com/blog-61714/
Right direction, but absolutely too far. Mocked up a quick graph that helps demonstrate how god awful the new sticky bomb is (x-axis is number of copies of an item, and y-axis is average damage increase). The functions top-to-bottom on the left are Syringe, Old Sticky, New Sticky, and an example of what a properly nerfed sticky could look like. Old sticky was far and away too good, new sticky is far and away horrible, and only gets worse and worse compared to other items the more of them you get, and a potentially "solved" sticky bomb is really very easy to mathematically hash out (5% chance +2.5% per stack, and 300% damage +25% per stack).
I like linux mostly because it is free, I really love getting new software updates, and I like the philosophy behind it.
Thanks, I read in the Risk of Rain faq that they were planning on supporting Mac/Linux if things worked out, and I just wanted to make this post to remind the developers that there are linux gamers like me that really want to buy and support the game if it supports linux. :D
Three virtual desktops with Scite, RiskOfRain and my browser / engine infos / wiki pages open using SharpE as my windows shell (which already comes with the virtual desktop feature). I basically just play RoR, kill a few waves, swap over to Scite, code a few lines, swap back and kill the newly spawned mobs while thinking about problems or bugs in my code and swap back. Pretty relaxing after you have the basic item setup (infusion, 100% crit rate and so on).
When you have alot of barbed wire stacks, mobs will start to die when they enter your screen. Flying mobs (like those jelly thingies on the very first maps) mostly die on the same two places top left/right from you and their chests (all mobs elite artifact and elite drop chests artifact) will drop on both side's on the same place. When you go there and press E, select a item and press E again it does that for all boxes that are on that spot already. Which isnt limited i guess.
The game is coming to the Playstation Vita so it's a pretty obvious that they're still working on the game. I wouldn't doubt that it were to be released on the Playstation 4 at some point as well.
Survival mode, arena mode and mutators were promised as stretch goals. I'm not sure if the artifacts counts as mutators, but it very well could be.
They also mentioned this on the Kickstarter page regarding stretch goals:
>Stretch goals will be added post-release, in a free patch.
>$15,000+ At this point, we have jam-packed our game with as much content as possible. We promise to keep updating the game into the foreseeable future.
It's not out yet, according to steamdb.info the latest update was about 5 hours ago and the depots for both the mac version and the linux version are still empty, which means that you can't install anything. I'm checking this daily/hourly, I really want to play this game (only played for a very short while on pc, I'm on a Mac)
Not since they upgraded to the latest version of the GameMaker engine and got a big performance boost. That was in October 2014, concurrent with the Linux/Mac release.
You can also opt into the beta on Steam, which contains "small optimization additions": http://riskofraingame.com/blog-22015-test-version-1-2-5-on-steam
Have you tried verifying the integrity of the game cache?
You could also try out the current beta build
Here's the link to the website.
I've played quite a bit, and I like it a lot. Very difficult yet rewarding.
Watch some videos on YouTube as well to get a good feel for the game. Bisnap has a pretty informative series on it.
Hello, I had installed a splitscreen mod before the update. After trying to reapply the mod, the game doesn't load. Would your solution of reinstalling the game work, despite having no connection with BepInEx? I'm out of my element and I just want to be able to play Rex in local co-op! Please help!
Still have one left. To hinder bots, let's do it like this:

The formula isn't correct because I translated it to percent incorrectly (fixed now) The formula on the site I linked was: y = 1 - 1/(0.15x + 1). y measures the chance to block an attack on a scale from 0 to 1. I multiplied both the numerator and denominator in mine to get percentage, which is incorrect because that would just cancel out and do nothing. I fixed it by reverting back the denominator to the original and just multiplying the denominator.
Here's a graph showing both equations (They overlap because they're the same) https://www.desmos.com/calculator/rgtwalwfp6
Ah, yeah, I've had Desktop recording on since way back when so I guess I never noticed that. But you can enable "mostly" exclusive fullscreen through Steam launch commands.
It's a known issue. So you're using a DS4 controller, are you using this program? http://ds4windows.com/ I was saying if you were using it, to try disabling it.
The next step would be to play ROR1 in big picture mode and try going through the gamepad settings.
There's a program, DS4Windows, that's pretty mediocre; not quite as good as DS4Tool. But DS4Windows has drivers for making the touchpad emulate the mouse. It works pretty well, but it ended up bugging out for me, so I just switched to DS4Tool.
Probably just hasn't gotten far enough launching to create the folder. Other thoughts are if you're using Wayland it might cause this, I think ubuntu 18.04 defaulted to Xorg but I'm not positive and you might still be using it, then the other comments suggested nvidia 415 but according to this 418 is required, so depending what you ended up installing that could still be the issue.
If that's not it you could try enabling logging in proton as mentioned here and either see if you notice something or upload the log.
Consider buying games you want on steam through steam or directly from the game's official page. Sometimes the game is cheaper on the webpage vs Steam. G2A might as well be buying pirated games most of the time.
I wish I knew. I've only had the game for about a month now and I'm unfamiliar with how consecutive updates are.
If it helps any, you can go to the website and try to find a pattern in updates.
I think that it's some kind of area defense system, like a stationary Tesla coil. It's because you can see near the end of the gif here that lighting is shocking the enemies.
The most recent thing on Mac release I could find was on the FAQ page of the website http://riskofraingame.com/faq/ > Will this be released on Mac at any point?
>While Mac and Linux was planned, GM:S has proven to have some issues in converting our files. If we resolve the problem we would love to be able to provide Mac and Linux support.
But you probably already knew about this
There is a demo which lets you try out 2 of the classes and a pretty wide variety of the items. You can download it right here.
Made it myself. Used this clear acrylic globe as the base, cut open the opening and sanded it enough to fit my head through, designed and 3d printed the skirt around the opening, glued it on, then lightly sprayed the outside with some mirror-effect spray paint.
Any laptop stronger than this one right here can run Risk of Rain 2.
To run Risk of Rain 1, you probably won't need as much horsepower.
Either way, head to Facebook marketplace and look for gaming laptops. Then, look for;
Windows 10.
The GPU or Graphics Processing Unit is a little more complex. Find it in the post or ask for it, then google "(GPU they tell you) vs (the GPU from the Amazon listing.)" If it scores higher than the Amazon listing, you're good.
The CPU or just the "Processor" must be handled the same way as the GPU. "(CPU they tell you) vs (the CPU from the Amazon listing.)" If it scores higher than the Amazon listing, you're good.
Congratulations, you've spent between $300-$600 on a machine that can run games like RoR2 at low to medium graphics. While it's not always the best bang for your buck, it's the easiest for newbies to the PC world to dip their toes in. Your next goal is to save up $3000 so you can build a high end PC.
I would like to add there are apps on Google play and IOS app store that tell you all what all the items are and what they do. Very useful if you are new to the game.
I dont know the IOS store one but here is the one for android. Risk of Rain 2: index
