Boveda sucks up water soluble terps. It's a horrible thing to use, but it's got all the mind share.
The best technique I've found is using a salad saver, and putting just about 10 ml of distilled water in the bottom chamber. Put in a dark cool spot for 12 to 24 hours. Also seal the salad saver itself.
The idea is to find the right amount of water, so that it's all evaporated by the time you get the RH that you want.
I got in to growing just so I could press at peak freshness. Now I'm breeding the best pressing strains that I've found and making my own hybrids.
I got a little washing machine thing of amazon deff makes making bubble easier and better. Pressed it on 12 ton harbor freight press.

Whenever I press dark looking bubble it comes out looking like more of an amber color before I collect all of it. When I flatten it out after collecting, it's consistently translucent and various shades of amber depending on the thickness of the slab.

I haven't used it yet (I don't have a press yet lol just ogling) but it looks pretty lit
If you get a super cheap press, don't use full power on it. If it spits the jack it could kill someone.
This is close to the one I have and it's only like $124? And no problem man it will also be really useful if you ever decide to run BHO or for drying out bubble hash before pressing for rosin You can always pull it in a vacuum and then put it in a vat of dry ice which I have done for a sort of ghetto freeze dryer and ebb and flow temp. I do this sometimes because freeze dryers are incredibly expensive and it's a good idea to freeze dry the bubble hash before pressing
I bought a temp gun for $20 off Amazon so I can heat any banger to ab 800 Fahrenheit then use the temp gun to measure til it hits 550 Fahrenheit then I take the dab :))

These have worked so good. If you can, buy one and rehydrate your flower. Also put one of those humidity pack at the same time and be blown away in 24hrs.
Not sure if this is helpful for you or not but the best $15 bucks I spent was on the Dulytek "glass stamp sticky wax collector"
It's basically a glass disk with a handle that works *amazingly* well at picking off both room temp and "pulled the parchment from the freezer" rosin loads for me - it was the only way to handle the more runny and sticky strains I was dealing with at small homegrow scale
Amazon link if mods allow (straight link, no referral BS ..)

It's 35lb for the 12 x 12 and 27lb for the 14 x 14. It's worth it. They are called dixie pizza sheets on amazon.
It actually looks like parchment paper, because it's real cellulose, combed properly in a singular direction of pulp. https://www.amazon.com/PIZ121-Parchment-Silicon-Treated-Length-Sheets/dp/B007G1E5NO
I whip in glass on a 6160 aluminum cold plate as well while the rosin is warm...not sure if that helps you? I hate silicone now...used to love it. I whip for around 2 mins or 3 mins...seal it up and let it sit for a few hours to overnight on my cold plate. You can get a custom made one from amazon for $15 bucks or less just add some cool stickers on the edges...saves you money on buying a braned one from press club or NS...but, since I had a huge sheet given to me I just cut mine...it's posted in my reddit. Yeah I bought a cheap one it’s really nice to learn and mess with on small scale 2-3 grams per press and I’ve been yielding average 20% but only did one type of flower so far (just got into this myself) it’s called the Dulytek DM800 and so far I have nothing but good to say bout it. Comes with some tools too 🤟

Here is a product called "Rosin Tea Bags" - http://aqualabtechnologies.com/ape-ten-rosin-tea-bag-screens-90.html. I don't know why they opted for a 90 micron screen.
That said, I wonder whether something like this http://www.amazon.com/Finum-100-Filters-Large-Brown/dp/B000KDW9MO/ might also work. Obviously tea bags are food safe, but I wouldn't want the material to burn and impart flavor.
These "rams" are designed for industrial uses, and some come with a variety of saddle accessories. There is slightly less surface area on the pin, but not enough to make a difference given the setup.
I was previously considering just swapping out the ram for another on amazon that also has a interchangeable saddle; but without the saddle, the difference is negligible now @ 4.75" vs 4.92".
Reasons why Dabpress chose to keep the saddle? 1) it looks nice 2) less pumping since there's less height 3) now you have to buy a pre-press to fit anything in there ;)
Do be careful if you try! The springs hold TON of force. I was foolish enough to use some zip ties the first time I tried to try and hold the plates in place -- bad idea XD
DabPress 4T - $320 with couponDabPress Bags - $20 for 40
That will let you do "Bottle Tech" which gets you 10% ~ 20% returns depending on the quality of your material for flower rosin. You'll want to press 3g ~ 5g at a time ideally, so something like an eighth is a good amount to test.
-
And as others have said, if you get into pressing you're eventually just gonna want something like a Nugshasher XP, but for flower rosin you can certainly start with an inexpensive machine and get excellent results.
I use this and do 5G pucks for the NS Mini with a lot of bag room to spare.. I just always do 5 in 1 out avg.
Thanks! Used this mini washer from amazon. Very shallow layer of ice on the bottom, buds all on top of that, second layer of ice to hold it down and then water on top for a 15min presoak. Three 6-minute cycles, two 10-minute all on the slow wash setting.

This is the type i have . Not the same but its manual press so the pressure is not as much as the automatic ones
I use these filter bags
Press at 180f in between parchment
I use a yocan evolve plus with donut coil. I love it.
Straight rosin no added terps or solvents. Dab all the time. Except at work. Responsibility.
You could run the entire thing off of a PID outlet, but then the stirrer would cut out with the heating element and you end up with a temperature gradient in the liquid column and all hell will break loose. I bought this controller and relay combo (forgot to mention the relay, verify with your pops that the amperage of the relay is sufficient to handle the amps of the element). The thermocouple that comes in that kit won't be sufficient, I use this one.
For larger (1-2L) batches, insulating the beaker helps to keep temps more stable by reducing convective/radiant heat transfer. I do all of my de-carbing in oil, works great for making cannabutter/coconut oil too.
Happy cooking!
The Ohdaze brand seems to be good, with 40 rosin bags (25 micron) and the pack comes with silicone container and parchment paper. Good value at $32.00 , they also do 37 micron and variety trial 20 pack (bit more cheaper, so worth trying before going with the 40 pack)

These are less than ideal given the price along with the platen size versus pressure output on these. Pretty sure that patent is for a hydraulic tortilla press and not the manual system/electric system you posted. A t shirt press is far cheaper and will yield the same results. http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Auplex-New-5000-PSI-Rosin-Heat_60395263552.html?spm=a2700.7724838.30.102.tMRH2p this thing is junk but atleast it's cheap.
Get it to temp (digital ones are easier) have a folded piece of parchment paper and your bud (usually a single nug maybe 2 if it's popcorn buds) in the middle of the layers of paper. Close hot straightener parts on the paper & bud sandwich with enough pressure to keep it from falling out and let it warm for about 10 seconds. Then squeeze the hell out of it like one side on the floor with body weight pressing with your knee or I've used this with better success. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OFNMRMC/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_DQE3ASF1M53AQ2D0FZH6?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Hold for desired time, release, and collect.

This is the one I went with it's about $20 more the entire bag is mesh. Lighter and much easier to work with when wet. The normal bubble bags only have the micron screen at the bottom. I tried both and prefer the mesh, spilled less water when cleaning and I use Frenchies method. Once I wash the trim I just used a cardboard box cut down to height of pizza box lined with parchment and put in fridge till dry enough to micro plain.
Hey, maybe he can afford one of these. I'm pretty sure you can custom fit steel plates for not much more.

This one is pretty cheap got a friend who uses it and works great
Honestly I would build your own, it’s wayyy cheaper, what I did was got a cheap hydraulic press from harbor freight (about $150 or so) then bought heated plates from Amazon (about $260) then you have a press that’s capable of anywhere between 10-15 tons depending on what press you buy and has 3x6 plates which would normally cost $1000+ if you bought it all together in the form of a nug smasher or other device. Here is a link to the heated plates I bought: 3x6 Inch DIY Caged Heat Press Plates Kit, Two Channel Heat Plate Kit Working with 10-20 Ton Hydraulic or Air-Operated Shop Presses https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DKNZWF9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_2SW6ZRZETC2E87P45Q1K
Depending on how often and how much you want to press, this may be a good option. I smoke bud more frequently but I like to press whenever I want to hit wax or just get a gram. This does a good job for the little presses, but if you wanna press a lot more I’d recommend buying heat plates and an Hframe as suggested before.

All that tech is 15 bucks on amazon. Normally I wouldn't make a comment like this but fuck this e-thuggery you're putting out there. This dude is working his balls off probably so he doesn't have to suckle on the dispo teet however way he can - and since he's screen sifting and not smashing nugs he's improving, too. How are you gonna knock a man for having a work ethic and doing something good for himself? I don't see no work badge in that video, he's in it for love.
Bro don't get fooled by marketing scams. I don't know if these ship outside of germany, but these two are literally the same thing (Just w/o bubblebags ofc) and cost half of that:
Try using a dehydrator like this one. That particular model will accurately hold <165*F for up to 48hrs. Remove all but the middle and bottom shelves for making carts: glass syringes and sealed concentrate jar on the upper shelf, staged carts (to be filled) in a covered 8x8in Pyrex dish on the lower. Set it to 150*F and away you go! Way easier (and safer) than using a toaster or conventional oven.

I’ve tried most (I think) of the major US store brands: Reynolds, Kirkland, Member’s Mark, Kroger, Great Value… in addition to a few of the more popular brands on Amazon: Press Club, Raw, Dulytek, Rosineer… and these parchment sheets from LTQ Vapor are, IMO, the best bang for your buck. They’re obviously not top of the line, but I can get 100ea 8” x 12” sheets for around $16, and then use a paper slicer to cut them in half lengthwise; the result is 200, 4x12” sheets all for about 8 cents per sheet. These cut pieces work perfect for 4x4” or smaller plates. As for their quality/durability, I ran a couple 3.5g pucks through at 220F for 10 min (~8k psi) just to see how the parchment would hold up: only noticed some minor bleed through with no crumbling or tearing at all. I’ve had absolutely zero issues using them with normal heat/time cycles. I highly recommend giving them a try.
ive seen people have luck using a hair straightener and a clamp, doesn't have to be expensive to make good rosin, just needs to be good bud or kief/hash
i learned on one like this, don't even use a bag just press the bud on parchment paper until you get that down https://www.amazon.com/dp/B096S1XZDY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_P6G2N922K5CN65XHDF3X
Ive had this happen once before with hash, but usually with flower, my recipe is to put it straight in the freezer rather than "air drying" to avoid terp loss as much as possible, then it usually turns to more of a shattery consistency and I can get it in the jar.
Funny this comes up, just earlier I was discussing this on discord (collecting hard to collect rosin) - Im thinking of picking up an ice cream tray like this - think it could def aid in the process -

That said, heres the thing though, for me, every single time, once I got it in the jar and let it jar cure (cold cure - shelf temp around 70F) in 2 days or so id get a nice cold cure batter. I say that, but I did do a test press for someone of some old landrace flower that was almost liquid even with freezing and never would cure out, but that was just an oddball I owe to the strain and material age.
straight from my cart for you , edit: now having looked my regular bags for 3.5g-7g are 2”-4.5” so I’m not sure what the bigger ones I use for 14g are..maybe 3”x6”

$25 IR Gun ambient temp reader
$120-200 Terpometer surface temp reader

There are other IR readers out there between $100-250 but I haven't had a problem with my little $20 IR gun and I've been using it for months. More importantly than anything it gives you a point of reference you can work off of. 🤘

i bought this one and use the middle scrape tool for collecting and the scoop and pointy tool for dabbing

I was looking at those but you have to buy 48 at a time. I've been looking at these on amazon. Has anyone tried these? The ratings imply the lids stay on and keep a seal.

The high quality Reynolds Parchment is better IMO after using both. The Oil Slick is a bit too flexy and expensive. The Reynolds is inexpensive and releases as well on top of a $20 collection plate.

Best $20 you will ever spend. Just use it in an area with little airflow, wear gloves and put parchment paper beneath it because the rosin will harden and annoyingly small pieces will end up on your hands while you collect.
