This is something I'm fascinated with because I think crowd-sourcing it could be incredible. While I didn't use, and don't know enough about the software you refer to, I created this sheet for OperationPullRyan as a quick demographic profile (note that there are two tabs). My hope was to show the numbers needed for that particular effort, and start the discussion about where to plant seeds for his challenger (on college campuses, I thought). And another redditor created this for an r/politics discussion about vulnerable 2012 seats (sorry, I don't remember who made it), which I thought was fantastic as well.
IMHO, this could be huge, but it would best to focus on a well-coordinated, well-planned operation, and that's a considerable challenge on reddit.
That has been the policy in the UK for years, and it has done wonders increasing broadband availability & speed, and decreasing costs.
There's a launchpad for the dev group and the design group. All are welcome to come with ideas or suggestions--regardless of your familiarity with building web applications. I am not a web developer, and I still pitch in what I can.
I enjoyed A Treasury of Great American Scandals. It's an informative (and entertaining) read.
I find it a good reminder that corrupt politicians aren't new. If anything, they're a constant.
Capitalism and Freedom by Friedman, is a dense read, but not too difficult. It's appropriate to the times. I can't remember if it was this book or another where he discussed the importance of letting companies fail & go bankrupt.
There's a great app on Android called, simply Congress. It's great, but only contains data for national reps. I'd love to see the same functionality but for my state and local government. If I had an easy way to track what my local people had voted for and then quickly contact them, it'd be great.
As I understand it, let's say you purchase 10 GOOG FEB Calls with a strike of $525 @ $21.43; you'd pay $2.143 in transaction tax (at .01%).
If you exercised those options and purchased 1,000 shares of Google, then you'd pay a tax on that transaction equal to $52.50. If you sell the options then you just pay a transaction on the new premium/transaction value .
.01% is a small tax and small options traders - or really, swing traders - would(/should) not notice or be affected by it.
Edit: and again, if this is how it actually would play out, it showcases why options are so fantastic - but I'm guessing you already knew that ;)
I set us up a Github repo for version control. It's currently empty and open source.

I am setting up a google doc with our resources (human and technical). Please message me your email address to get it shared.

We could emulate the UK's local loop unbundling. It has done wonders for increasing broadband availability/speed and decreasing its costs.
> the copyright stuff is mandatory by the FEC
Do you have a source for this claim? Copyrights are implicit whenever creative works are published, whether or not they include a notice. Here's a SitePoint article about it, and here's a relevant circular from the US copyright office [PDF].
Sweet! We can use any help we can get. If you want to get in on what's going on, get on the dev team mail list in launchpad and we'll be able to keep you up-to-date. Feel free to PM me with any questions.
Cool, well if you haven't yet (and anyone else interested) get on the mailing list on the launchpad page: https://launchpad.net/~osdf-devteam ... I anticipate that being the place where any project (whether it winds up going to this FCC competition or not) will ultimately get hashed out..
