I know this was 3 weeks ago, but just thought I would let you know in case you were interested, I have also done a piano/vocal version for "Audition" from the new La La Land teaser. Here is the music.
Ty ty lel, here's the original sheet music... ig it had some interesting bits (https://flat.io/score/5f528a08a8237664d67499ff-oh-look-a-random-butterfly)
Also i guess i'll link my soundcloud so u can see how much i improved (https://m.soundcloud.com/embrace-da-meme)
I bought this a few years ago and it's AMAZING. Well worth the price. I hope the link works as it's in Japanese characters.
MuseScore can actually run on linux
Here it is in the Arch Linux repos https://www.archlinux.org/packages/?sort=&q=musescore&maintainer=&flagged=
And in Gentoo repos https://packages.gentoo.org/packages/media-sound/musescore
I found a cool site that identifies songs... but it couldn't find it. Click the play button and see if it sounds familiar. Thanks!
https://flat.io/score/5b4a999580f6e3295b8a25a3-black-hole-sun seems to be similar to the official ones ($5 at sheetmusicdirect, also available at jellynotes). Some mistakes like missing ties and using ties where notating with a different rhythmic value but readable
it's hard to find a full sheet of it for free, but here's a "beginning" of it https://flat.io/score/5d49623356cdd341a32b6b06-the-dismemberment-song.. sadly that's all i could find.
No, but I fell in love with this piece as soon as I heard it. There are chords available here and here so that would be good start. I'd like to learn this myself though so what I've done so far is downloaded the video and flipped it back around to the way it's supposed to go and then zoomed in so I can see the notes that she is playing. If you're interested in the end result I would be happy to send it to you. Learning a song this way can be time consuming though but it doesn't seem to be that hard of a piece. Maybe some day soon after I learn it I could make a midi or sheets for it but I wouldn't want to put a time frame on it. I wonder if there would be a demand for that. Who would have thought a royalty-free song would be so beautiful? Anyway, I hope this helps - let me know if you'd like me to send you the video.
Not sure what your experience level is, but I came across this cool piece of software the other day called Transcribe. If you click on that link it will give you a nice little overview of what it can do - I played around with it the other day and I liked it. You will have to have at least some fundamental knowledge about transcription to be able to put it to good use though. Other than that here's the chords to that song. Maybe that's all you'll need. Good luck!
I looked for this piece in all of my usual places but only came across the chords. I actually quite like this piece and would love to find the sheets myself. It looks like they were never published in any official capacity though, so I think we'd have to rely on someone to transcribe it. Other than that, this song might be a good candidate for a music transcription software since it's only piano. AnthemScore is the only one I have any experience with and I have been pleasantly surprised at times. My trial is up or I would run it through for you... good luck on your search!
> We play a lot of embellishments that certain programs can interpret as not fitting the time signature. It often looks like you've accidentally put 6 beats in a measure in 4/4, but it's just the way it's written.
I think I know what you mean, I've seen it in wind band choral books.
As for programs, I'm sure lilypond together with its frontend frescobaldi is up to the task.
The link is good for 14 days (today 2/26/21). if you know a site where I can upload a PDF permanently let me know and I'll do that.
These are also great, for the price.

There's 4 or 5 of them, plus a Christmas one. I'd say 80% of the arrangements are excellent, the rest are either crap or need some tweaking to be decent.
Well you're going to need some way of playing the song back and figuring out how each notes sound. I've heard some people use Audacity, but personally the best free option I've used was this app called Music Speed Changer, it can slow down and change the pitch with out losing so much quality and can even loop certain sections. I know with this kind of genre it's hard to do a "direct" transcription since it may not sound the same, but if you're able to figure out a nice chord progression you could turn it into your interpretation.
In terms of actually writing the notes down, what I use is Musescore since it's free and works well, or you could do it the old fashion way and do it on paper.
I saw it on Amazon for like $80. https://www.amazon.com/Toto-Isolation-Songbook/dp/B000XPTI4G
I'll try having a look for you later bud! I've also got the FULL studio score of Africa (drum track, all guitar tracks, vocals, literally EVERYTHING on the original) if you're interested? :)
The following Amazon listing dates it at 1920. I wish I had a more authoritative source.

Well, Transcribe doesn't actually transcribe music. It just slows down what you hear. The competition is probably AudioScore, which is priced at around $230.
