>Google sheets will work just fine for this. The email gets captured in a cell in the sheet, and all info from the guest who submits the form is captured in one row.
Seconding this. I use forms to collect the info of people who attend a monthly support group. They google sheets populated wonderfully and all I have to do is copy the line of emails and paste them into an email.
If you really are struggling with the forms, I would also suggest looking into TypeForm, which is also great at collecting information and keeping it stored online and on a google spreadsheet. I use SS forms and typeform and prefer typeform so I can more easily access info.
You can just do all of your images at Squarespace’s recommended size. They have it set up like that so that they can make the correct sizes for different views/mobile etc.
The real difference in loading is not just dimensions but image quality and compression. I have a very image rich website and sticking to the recommended memory size (saving at 50% quality from adobe, screen resolution, then compressing with Tiny JPG ) has made things load better. As a visual artist, I was very reluctant to sacrifice image quality, but found that “good enough” was over all better since no one wants to wait for images to load.
Squarespace has nothing to do with it, unless you got your domain through them and then they are your domain registrar so you'll have to set up the DNS through them.
It's not a "regular" Google account like your Gmail. Go here to sign up and start set up.
Do whatever you want to. The COMMERCE plan has the e-commerce functionality that you're missing.
If you want to go on the cheap, and still benefit from a real cart, use https://gumroad.com/ ... add your product on Gumroad and embed the "cart" on your basic Squarespace site.
Thank you for you reply. I will be giving Wordpress.com a try as it is very easy to use. I was really impressed with the Squarespace templates which I felt I could not duplicate on Wordpress.com. I also thought I could set up a standard WP site and use a site builder but I don't have the time and frankly the design skills.
The scolds here just keep saying how easy Squarespace is but I just don't see it and wanted an alternative which the scolds did not provide which hey... scolds are gonna scold.
Is that the self-hosted WordPress.org site or WordPress.com blog hosting service? There's a difference.
If you're looking to transfer to Wordpress.org, (a real website instead of just blog), you need hosting from a third party. Because Wordpress.org doesn't do their own domain and hosting*, like Squarespace does.
As for the domain, you have to "point it" from Squarespace to Wordpress. You can do this in control panel of your new hosting provider. Most likely not something you'll know how to do if you've never done it before, so maybe chat to Squarespace support to guide you through the process.
*Unless you're looking to have a website with Wordpress.com, and not .org
Good luck!
This will only work if you have paid Acuity and Zapier plans. You first need to add Zapier as an integration to your Acuity account. Then use Webhooks by Zapier (you need a premium account for this) and trigger it on whatever Acuity event you need. Then select POST as your action in the next step, where you'll enter the url, headers, and data. This link might help you set up the webhook if you have any trouble, but the UI is pretty intuitive. Let me know if you have any questions.
You can follow these instructions for the code https://itch.io/updates/introducing-game-embeds
Then add them into a CODE block on Squarespace. It won't work until you refresh the page since it tries to hide code while you're editing to prevent errors.
I can't really say what exactly is going wrong without a link to your site or a more detailed explanation of what's actually not working, there's just not enough info here to work with.
I think there are easier and better ways to get your game in your site. I'd use https://itch.io to embed your game instead. PM me if you're really struggling with this, I regularly work with both Squarespace and Unity.
I use and recommend TypeForm. It’s not native, but integrate nicely into SS (even the low discontinued templates) and is easy to use.
It sounds like you’re looking to create “logic jumps”, which Typeform offers. I use the forms on three separate websites. One is embedded onto a page of the site, one is linked to the announcement bar on another, and I have it as a button in the pop-up on another. Works great for me. Hope this helps.
Unfortunately it's not possible yet. WordPress itself has people register for accounts that they use to subscribe to WordPress websites that they like. Squarespace doesn't have people register to subscribe so they would need to get permission to email someone for updates for each website they want separately. You'll either have to wait (and pray) that Squarespace implements a way to do this, do it manually, or schedule it according to https://mailchimp.com/resources/guides/mailchimp-for-bloggers/html/
It looks like your images are 2400 pixels x 2400 pixels. Just resize it to 1600 at the longest edge (which is more than good enough for now). Since you have a few images on the slider, loading them will be a pain. Another thing to do is save them as JPEG to save on file size, and even lower quality to 60% through photoshop. Or use something like https://tinyjpg.com/
transfer your domain to namecheap.com it'll be 8 bucks a year thereafter and it comes with whois protection.. the others are going to try and charge you 20 bucks a year just for the domain.. you'll have to pay for another year immediately to transfer but it's only 8 bucks and you'll end up saving a lot of money in the long run
Are you using height / width in pixels? You could try using em or vw instead. https://elementor.com/help/whats-the-difference-between-px-em-rem-vw-and-vh/
These are relative units rather than saying an absolute size in pixels.
Any reason you’ve used a custom map and not Squarespace’s built in one?
The script parts should go in SETTINGS → ADVANCED → CODE INJECTION. Just the stuff between <div> and </div> should go in the code block.
So in SETTINGS → ADVANCED → CODE INJECTION you should have the following.
<script src="https://d3js.org/d3.v4.min.js"> </script> <script src="https://d3js.org/topojson.v2.min.js"> </script> <script src="/datamaps.world.min.js"></script> <script> var basic = new Datamap({ element: document.getElementById("basic") }); </script>
And then in the CODE block on a specific page, you would have the following
<div id="container" style="position: relative; width: 500px; height: 300px;"></div>
This website it's been built with Webflow https://webflow.com
I am not sure about reaching the same result with Squarespace unless you completely customize/override their templates with HTML and CSS...
Idea: I'm thinking of starting up a new "workshop" like the first 2-3 episodes where I designed a site that looked like Square.com. Maybe designing a Squarespace website like http://theverge.com, http://twit.tv, or some other popular website?
Really awesome site, only thing I could find was the page load time was a little on the slower side (I doublechecked my internet speed so I am good on my side), but it wasn't bad or anything. For websites I build I use https://gtmetrix.com/ , it goes over everything on your site and gives you exact data on load time, and will tell you what's slowing it down etc. Other than that site is built really well, Great job!!!
I've used both IFTTT and Zapier. Zapier gives you much more control over what you can do and you can use it a few ways. For one, Squarespace Form Block have a direct integration to Google Docs. If you use Zapier you can connect to Google Docs on one end, and pipe the data into any of their other apps. This is great.
I built a Zapier "Developer App" that scrapes data directly from the website itself using the JSON API: http://blog.squarespace.com/?format=json-pretty
It's beta because I haven't touch it in awhile but use this link for an invite to try it out: https://zapier.com/r/o3vy1
Squarespace app for Android is now out of Beta! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.squarespace.android.squarespaceapp
