Thanks for raising this concern.
We want to make sure all players and fans have the means to share their feedback with each other and with us. This subreddit is going to be a particularly good resource for that.
That's also why we have a public road map (https://trello.com/b/swzuqjxq/the-culling-early-access-development-roadmap) and Known Issues list (https://trello.com/b/sRUt8hNj/the-culling-known-issues).
The Streamer audience has a couple of other perks but as you said is by no means sufficient by themselves. In my personal opinion, the additional value is mainly the real-time "see what they saw" kind of feedback (clearly articulating your intended feedback purely in writing is challenging) and also to see how people watching perceive the same issue (a very quick "yeah that's bad" or "that's not really fair" or "that happened to me too" etc.). And while it's often rowdy, unfiltered does have its own merits in the right dose. :)
If y'all have more ideas on how/where we should look for feedback, please share them!
I think it's pretty funny.
> Denial, in military affairs, a defensive strategy used to make it prohibitively difficult for an opponent to achieve a military objective.
> A denial strategy can be best defined by distinguishing it from a deterrence strategy. In the latter a protagonist’s threatened reprisal, by changing the opponent’s mind about pursuing a certain course of action, precludes an opponent from taking undesirable action. A denial strategy likewise precludes an opponent from taking undesirable action, but it does not seek to do so by changing an opponent’s mind. Rather, the protagonist simply puts the opponent’s objective out of reach, regardless of whether the opponent chooses to pursue it.
> A scorched earth policy is a military strategy that targets anything that might be useful to the enemy while advancing through or withdrawing from an area....It may overlap with, but is not the same as, punitive destruction of the enemy's resources...
A couple of Medal of Honor recipients destroyed U.S. weapons and equipment prior to death or capture to deny their use by the enemy. I don't see what everyone gets so upset about. Your enemy is your enemy, not your friend. Why do a favor for your enemy?
I added a trello card to the community suggestions section of the roadmap. If you want the feature, rock the vote! https://trello.com/c/OaslWitu/25-use-stims-to-poison-an-unopened-container-as-a-trap-for-other-players
Look at the Development Roadmap, there is everything listed which is work in progress or what is wished from the community and other stuff.
https://trello.com/b/swzuqjxq/the-culling-early-access-development-roadmap
I've linked this a bazillion times here already and still people requesting things that have been on the trello board for months... This information is so easy to find. Spread the word.
Added to the Quality of Life feature requests list: https://trello.com/c/j0Gj2v3Y/38-make-ammo-for-bows-universal
As to why it's not already like that - design may weigh in here on desirability, I can say that for engineering, making the ammo universal is at least one iota more work than NOT doing that (I don't have a precise estimate in either Metric or Imperial iotas though). So yes, the feature has a cost.
We appreciate the feedback, we're taking it all in and processing while also trying to resolve bugs and issues, it's quite valuable. Don't forget to check our development roadmap and vote for what is import to you. You might even find a couple things on it like you mentioned. :) https://trello.com/b/swzuqjxq/the-culling-early-access-development-roadmap
If you need some sort of incentive to play a game, other than it being fun to play, you're gaming wrong.
But yes, ranked is on the table. Not confirmed, but highly requested. https://trello.com/b/swzuqjxq/the-culling-development-roadmap
I've added "Team Offline Mode" to the community requests section of the roadmap. Please head over there and vote if you want this feature to be considered. https://trello.com/b/swzuqjxq/the-culling-development-roadmap
Well, main reason for me not using Commando is that I haven't unlocked it. xD
Seriously, though, I think it's just a matter that the airdrop is too generic and people want to specialize themselves. Commando has a good melee weapon, has a good ranged weapon and has a good explosive. The problem is that most players will think "Ahh, if I'm going range anyway I might as well get Sniper" or "Well, if I need explosives I'll just use Sapper" and so on. Don't get me wrong, Commando is extremely strong (I'd personally consider it to be one of the top 3 best airdrops), but average players won't see its strengths because those strengths are not obvious.
What players miss is that, with Commando, you have a means to deal with every situation you could ever end up facing. I'll quote Sun Tzu from "The Art of War", the main modern reference for military strategies, when I say:
> Engage people with what they expect; it is what they are able to discern and confirms their projections. It settles them into predictable patterns of response, occupying their minds while you wait for the extraordinary moment — that which they cannot anticipate.
And:
> So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.
Look at these quotes and consider this : Not only does Commando allows you to be prepared for every combat situation your opponent could throw at you, but it also allows you to have a way of exploiting any weakness your opponent may suffer from. That's why it's one of the best, but that's also why nearly no one uses it; they want to fight the way they're best at, not the way their opponent is weakest against.
If you really want to make your opinion heard on this topic, there are separate requests on the Roadmap for team voice chat, and open proximity chat.
https://trello.com/c/zzMkya4F/19-in-game-voice-chat-for-teams
https://trello.com/c/NhNjkGax/18-proximity-voice-chat
The roadmap doesn't have down voting, but you can at least add your support (your VOICE if you will... GET IT) to the feature(s) you want to see.
There is a bug right now with the surprise me airdrop. Since the random airdrop chooses one of the airdrops from the game, it can happen that the surprise me airdrop chooses the surprise me airdrop. Since the surprise me airdrop is empty, it does not cost func.
The devs are already aware of this and are working on it.
Furthermore there are two rules which I want you to be aware of: there is a rule which says that you should look at the new page first to avoid duplicates and the other that you should use the searchbar; the problem you addressed got posted multiple times already ;)
If you'd like more information on known bugs, "click here".
I wish I could say EU server hype, but I don't think it's like that. If you look at their development roadmap it will likely be the female player model.
We are using a trello board to track known issues. Might be handy to have a sticky here where people can find the trello board and report issues that aren't already on it. https://trello.com/b/sRUt8hNj/the-culling-known-issues
One of my favorite air drop stories was in teams. I was being chased by an enemy team after they killed my partner, and I noticed an air drop coming down in the distance. So I ran to it, and noticed that the team waiting for it wasn't looking at me. So I ran up just in time for one of them to open it. It was a Pothead drop, and I stole the Orange Juice, popped it, and ran into the bushes before they even knew what happened. Then the chasing team caught up and fought them while I made my escape.
I love this game.
See it here at 1:06:00 https://www.twitch.tv/jimbei_/v/58723665
Vote for it on the handy roadmap, where you can also vote for other such desired additions as new maps, west coast servers, and weather effects.
This is an old known bug which is on their trello since the 3rd march ;)
here is the link.
It's on the feature roadmap. https://trello.com/b/swzuqjxq/the-culling-development-roadmap
>We'd love feedback on it (relative priority, specific features, etc.).
We are aware of the latency and lag issues regarding servers, and are actively looking into it for possible solutions.
The truth is that network performance is a top priority and something that we will be able to demonstrate progress on soon. We know that players won't (and shouldn't) be satisfied with that answer until their own experience meets minimum expectations, which is why we haven't talked much about it.
With that said, we aren't doing a good job communicating with you if you don't know that we're aware of the issue and actively working on it. As such, we've added it to the known issues list: https://trello.com/b/sRUt8hNj/the-culling-known-issues
For those of you who are experiencing issues, we feel your pain and hope you will bear with us!
There are some requests on the Early Access Roadmap that might be of interest to you.
https://trello.com/c/tj6EZIR1/16-private-servers
https://trello.com/c/6CqbAeqp/20-larger-team-formats-e-g-4v4v4v4-or-larger-total-contestants-per-round
This is absolutely wrong. In an engagement, fleeing because you have low health is a tactical and smart decision. Living to fight another day isn't being a bitch, it's understanding the situation you are in. Hell, Sun Tzu even included this important concept in The Art of War.
Blind aggression is just a retarded way to play.
Hi TheSorrowInYou, I have uploaded it here: http://www.filedropper.com/victory
It seems to be quite long as I played a few matches before this one. The match in question is the last one I played before exiting the program.
I agree that premade teams in FFA are an annoyance, although I enjoy the challenge.
It's also funny to see the correlation between trash players and teamers.
Edit: here's a video on 2v1v1 where the teamers had a gun, but still lost.
Word - I had a game the other night where my partner died early and I had to play extremely squirrelly. The game has one win condition - be the last man / team standing. That's the goal, ladies and germs. Do what you need to do.
the match: https://www.twitch.tv/analogstickradio/v/58647163
https://trello.com/b/swzuqjxq/the-culling-early-access-development-roadmap
this suggestion was floating around since march. i guess the devs wanted to improve performance, combat and overall game flow before adding skins, maps and more.
i agree though. im happy with the current game (despite some minor things), so they can implement more stuff now :)
There's a glitch right now where some items in your inventory don't match the same item in game. Probably what's going on.
On Wednesday's update there will be a lot of bug fixes as well as new features, the bombsuit one included. Also to view and help influence what is prioritised in development go the roadmap.
People have made several suggestions about this already, such as being able to craft explosive/poison arrows at barrels/pylons, poison spears/blades at gas pylons, from memory the Devs have said it's something they considered but not currently on the agenda.
EDIT: Apparently the arrow thing is on their roadmap now
https://trello.com/b/swzuqjxq/the-culling-early-access-development-roadmap
There have been a lot of requests for more robust cosmetics, it's on the roadmap. Go ahead and vote.
What bugs me is trying to wear a SWAT Mask with a Hoodie. You get that weird bit of collarbone showing.
Someone suggested this before and they added something similar after to their roadmap. https://trello.com/b/swzuqjxq/the-culling-early-access-development-roadmap
Maybe they didn't want a straight out trap airdrop so they compromised by being able to apply something to unopened containers. I still like the original idea better, though. Give up your own airdrop to potentially fuck people over.
Here is our roadmap where you can pick your favorites and help us prioritize. Maps are currently the most voted for new feature. https://trello.com/b/swzuqjxq/the-culling-early-access-development-roadmap
I think most people would be ok with some kind of matchmaking not sure where you got that from. If you look here you'll see that ranked gameplay is already on the roadmap. All in due time.
https://www.twitch.tv/fairlight_excalibur or https://www.twitch.tv/anthony_kongphan. They're usually teammates but both have a long history of playing survival games & very entertaining while teaching & explaining why they're doing things.
If you have an android, I developed an app that has a damage calculator for each weapon with certain buffs/debuffs.
A streamer who had this kill in my VOD had the announcer say "An enemy was incinerated in a horrific blast!" when I nailed the guy with the dynamite, so I think it's just coded to take only direct damage from the explosive as an explosive kill line trigger instead of the explosion, which is secondary damage.
Hear it here https://www.twitch.tv/joshog/v/59410740?t=10h30m18s
We've put some of these issues on the Known Issues list - if it's there, that means we've either confirmed the issue exists internally or have seen enough external reports that we're actively pursuing it.
I think on their website they've confirmed they're planning on making more ranged weapons and have confirmed they're making a slingshot weapon. Link to the stuff is here https://trello.com/b/swzuqjxq/the-culling-early-access-development-roadmap
We had an internal bug on this, but I just discovered that it wasn't on the Known Issues list, so I added it: https://trello.com/c/HOe5y7nE/27-a-match-that-ends-with-an-explosion-may-cause-sound-to-be-distorted-in-subsequent-matches-workaround-restart-the-game-client

I'll save the devs some time and link their Trello they always list. What you're suggesting is under their 'feature requests' section, if it's what you want for them to take priority, go vote and let them know
They're already working on it as well as a bunch of other additions to the game too. Check out their roadmap:
https://trello.com/b/swzuqjxq/the-culling-development-roadmap
Specifically notice the "In-development" tab on the far right.
Have you tried turning your steam off and on again?
The devs are already aware of this and are working on it.

This is the current development roadmap where you can look up everything the Devs share with us in regards to future content.
I never said we'll never give more options. We started with the minimum that it made sense to support. If it becomes clear additional options would be popular, we can expand it.
Just keep in mind every feature has a cost, and UI features scale "OK" but certainly aren't the highest bang for buck either.
Let's quantify this desire by putting it on the roadmap: https://trello.com/c/EfXyprEk/37-expose-more-video-settings-e-g-framerate-lock-in-the-settings-ui
As you can see here, private servers are coming in the future.
I think there is also the chance to customize those games then, if not it sure will be added too :D
The devs are already aware of this and are working on it.

Larger teams are indeed on the devs radar! Check out the development roadmap for more information on planned features. No promise of it happening anytime soon though.
This game was given to me by a friend i have 30 hours in the game and have been lurking this sub since i got it, the devs seem to care about the game and rely on the people for bugs suggestions. They have a roadmap that they allow voting for what the main things they work on shoulf be ( https://trello.com/b/swzuqjxq/the-culling-early-access-development-roadmap ) and they respond to most topics on the sub. I believe this dev team to be far above the other early access devs that you have mentioned. So yes, i do feel its worth the buy at a mere 13.50
https://trello.com/c/VsR3iovR/9-video-driver-crash-and-recovered-amd-driver-crash
In there there Chris Rathjen said, AMD GPU users with the "Crimson" drivers may be running outdated drivers even if your local software says you're up to date.
The solution is to manually install the 16.2 drivers from here: http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMD_Radeon_Software_Crimson_Edition_16.2.aspx
Hope this works for you! :) gl!
It's already been requested... check here for all the things the devs are planning on adding, and to vote on features you want.
> Hey Cull...ers?
I believe the preferred nomenclature is "contestants" :)
Good news is that the devs are indeed planning on adding support for private and local servers! Check out the development roadmap for more information on planned features.
PearlAries (https://www.twitch.tv/pearlaries), he's chill as fuck, really good at the game and open to suggestions. If you dream up a build in chat he will likely give it a try.
Also, my buddy Skrumpalump streams but he's awful and a douche but you should check him out (https://www.twitch.tv/skrumpalump).
Let me try to make this easy for you. They are going to need the same number of hours on the same number of machines to host the player base at any given moment no matter what regions the servers are in. AutoScaling adds and removes machines as demand goes up and down.
If the servers are in different regions the demand doesn't change. The machines are just spun up and spun down in different regions. Since the demand doesn't change, the total cost doesn't change.
Demand = Cost.
The only thing that makes the total cost go up with autoscaling is an increase in the player base (demand) at a given time. Because autoscaling will add more machines to handle it.
Sorry if I'm not making this clear.
Also your 5.7k number is WILDY off base, by an order of magnitude.
https://aws.amazon.com/ec2/pricing/
"On Demand Instance Pricing"
c3.2xlarge (which is the most likely instance type to host the game)
8 cores, 15 GB of ram, Gigabit network speeds.
Price $0.42 per Hour
Autoscale will keep a minimum of one server running per region at all times. So worst case it costs Xaviant $300 to add US West. But in reality part of the demand will just shift from US-East to US-West, with a net change of ZERO new servers (X will spin down in East, X will spin up in West.) So the cost of adding a new region is essentially FREE.
I randomly watched this guy yesterday and he didn't have the dot anymore, because "there were some really stupid people that were accusing him of cheating" (1:57:56 of https://www.twitch.tv/scottjund/v/55038800). It's just an overlay for the viewers (probably because he also streams H1Z1), it's not something he sees himself.
With that out of the way, if having an actual crosshair (not an overlay that's not there for the player) were bannable, you could just make a crosshair/dot yourself on your monitor. What would you do about that?
https://www.twitch.tv/pedrosaltana You just watch Ralph sometime. He is the best :D Sometimes he fails but still he just won by just using the punji dart thing. He killed the last guy who had 6 stungun charges and a rifle :D And his inventory was 5 times punji dart stick!
There is an area in the air port where you can hide in the stall and look through a wall into the rest of the airport and no one else can see you
You can see it here https://www.twitch.tv/pete_floyd/v/54296539
twichhunting drops in team made one player gets them self killed as fast as possible and films the other player take on team drop as a solo player. live stream weekend afternoon/nights.
This is just a question but is this server lag/My lag/Game lag/cheats? I don't know what to think if everything is the exact same with ping issue because this was never happening to me a few days ago.
Yeah - all our theories are going to be edge case territory at this point.
And while I noted caution around VPNs, one thing you could actually do to see if your network connection is a factor is to try playing over a VPN and see if that changes the behavior.
We can't recommend any particular product, but I can say that TunnelBear is pretty easy to set up and free for up to 500MB a month.
I am all for intelligent game play. I support that idea with all my heart. The problem I see is that there's a point where being tactical over rides fun and I feel that we are a little too close to that point. Right now, the tactical option is to avoid fighting which The Art of War even says that sometimes it is best to live to fight another day. I get that. But the issue we face is that there's no reason to go into a fight at all since you can get the same reward from waiting around for something else to happen. This just makes the game feel dragged out and overall boring.
i use this mouse from my WoW days. before it became not fun anymore. using numbers in a game has never been easier
