I wasn't sure how successful the song would be. The Avalanches have always been more of a cult success worldwide, with popularity among certain groups (e.g. Aussies and the British, music critics, and fans of indie music, electronic music, hip-hop and sampling), but being very unknown to huge segments of the music-buying public.
I was legitimately surprised at all the hype over the release of Frankie Sinatra. At one time the Avalanches had the top three posts in /r/Music, they were trending on Twitter, they were featured in newspaper articles everywhere and every music magazine. There was even a live blog at The Guardian.
If the album is very good (which I suspect it will be - the boys never having let us down yet) then it could be a big hit.
btw, I just noticed that this Youtube video has in the description the first production credits we've seen for any of the new songs:
> Video Credits:
> Video Directed by Fleur Fortuné
> Video Produced by Division
> Single Credits:
> Produced by Robbie Chater
> Mixed by Robbie Chater and Tony Espie
> Engineer Aaron Dobos, Michael O’Connell, Matthew Neighbour
> Recorded at Sing Sing Studios, Melbourne
> Mixed at Sing Sing Studios, Melbourne
> Master by Joe LaPorta at Sterling Sound NYC
Hmmm. I tried to extract the vocals using https://www.lalal.ai and it couldn't tell the difference between instruments and vocoded vocals :( Playing around with some of the instrument extractions makes it a bit clearer, but not perfect.
But I always heard it as "The summer sound" and then it becomes unclear. Later maybe "sound 1990" and "we get around"
Maybe something like this (bits in brackets are complete guesses):
The Summer Sound, (nah nah nah nah nah) it's the summer (?) the summer sound (i get around) its the sound like / The Summer Sound, (nah nah nah nah nah) it's the summer (?) the summer sound (i get around) its the sound of
But I really have no idea. I wonder if they are a sample or if it was part of a live performance?
Okay so I might be going a little crazy on 'russian facebook', but there's a group saying they will leak it if this post has 300 likes by Friday: https://vk.com/wall-9325830_46544 Get on there and like!
Nice work! Have you tried using something like spleeter ( https://github.com/deezer/spleeter ) or one of its derivatives like RX8 to do source separation? If there are any more missing samples buried under other layers I'd be happy to try separating the relevant parts into stems if someone tells me where to look.
You should include in an update that a song by The Beatles is on the song "The Noisy Eater" with Biz Markie, and this sample. http://www.whosampled.com/sample/431829/The-Avalanches-Danny-Brown-MF-Doom-Frankie-Sinatra-Percy-Faith-%26-His-Orchestra-My-Favorite-Things/
Um, there's not too many.
Are you familiar with Emancipator or Bonobo? Somewhat of Downtempo/Trip-hop stuff. Very pretty beats.
Another record I snagged recently - Gasoline
Halo's & Heartstrings was my old tape, using the Yoga Mind Meld Zombie Relaxation Tape as an opener, with a few edits and also some more edits at the end for my closer, using original samples from the SILY Recipe package. Imagine how stoked I was to hear pretty much the same bit I chose emerge on Wildflower as Zap! Not claiming any credit here, but great minds and all that.. I wonder if they listened to my tape?

Ive heard a bit of it from the Amazon France preview links , its been around for a while and even appeared in a mix and was even up on the Avalanches youtube channel as a trippy trailer for Modular. Its the first song on this mix.

Also, ask friends what they hear, but don’t tell them the guesses first. Our brains can be very easily convinced they hear things that aren’t there.
The Avalanches used this to great effect with a number of samples. The lyric ‘Since I left you’ is really ‘Since I met you’, but we know the track is named Since I Left You so in turn we hear that. Some people think that they manipulated the sample to make this change, but I don’t believe so; if you convince yourself it says ‘met’ then you can hear that clearly (and you can do the opposite with a pitch-shifted copy of the original sample).
I found and posted the version of "Favorite Things" they used on Whosampled. http://www.whosampled.com/sample/431829/The-Avalanches-Danny-Brown-MF-Doom-Frankie-Sinatra-Percy-Faith-%26-His-Orchestra-My-Favorite-Things/
Bought mine yesterday from this guy on discogs:
https://www.discogs.com/user/7inchsingles.nl
He swears it's a new re-issue and that his copies arrived from the supplier yesterday. He doesn't know if they are blue or black vinyl as he hasn't opened any. I doubt I'll open mine either! We'll see if it's a boot or not in time I suppose. For now, just happy to be getting this on vinyl without having to sell my left testicle.

Also, if anyone has, or has heard, this promo, I would love to know if those are clean standalone tracks. I doubt it, but I've never been able to find that one.
Thanks for the link. I've never seen a real copy on sale before. discogs.com doesn't even have an entry for it.
I wonder who did the remix? Maybe The Avalanches did it themselves, as there's no DJ name in brackets after the song.
I'd like to hear this song too, as it's one of only two released Avalanches songs I don't have (the other being Rock City (Live at the Wireless)).
Yeah! I love it. Got it on Amazon.

I put together a 3 plus hour playlist/mix a couple weeks back that has quite a bit of stuff that has an Avalanches vibe. I've read a lot of recommendations on reddit about stuff people say sounds like the Avalanches and in my opinion there are songs on this that definitely fit the bill and have not been mentioned in any of these posts. I usually don't share this stuff but since you are asking... https://www.mixcloud.com/Jediak/jediak-fine-tune-a-ryhthmic-mix-for-summer-2016/
Good find. My mind instantly went to Cypress Hill's 'Insane in the Brain'. Apparently this sample was everywhere in the 90s: http://www.whosampled.com/Mel-%26-Tim/Good-Guys-Only-Win-in-the-Movies/
Don't know about the label part...I have a few boots that have the original issuing label on them:

Fwiw, I dm'd the avalanches earlier to see if this is legit. No response yet.
/u/RobbyGotshall, have you ever seen this compilation featuring Etoh? Maybe, just maybe, it contains the clean ending needed to add Etoh to your collection.
It was put together by the label that released Since I Left You album and the Frontier Psychiatrist maxi-single in Spain. They were given away free so looks like it could be obtained relatively cheaply.
The cover looks like a slight variation on this Reader's Digest box set:
> Correct me if I'm wrong but there is no way to record in to an iPad is there?
Thankfully, you are wrong; the iPad accepts audio input through the headphone jack, Lightning connector and, of course, the mic. Using the Camera Adapter dongle you can use any USB input device too; the Behringer UFO is commonly used with iPads.
Any app can record this input, eg. Garageband specifically has a sampler. If you have a specific input need there is a large industry of input accessories, e.g. this site’s catalogue.
I’m not a musician, so I won’t be much help, but I’d suggest you look into Audiobus. It is an app that allows you to route audio through a chain of other apps. This means you can use effects from multiple other apps while recording into your preferred DAW (instead of having to export all your individual changes). Audiobus is compatible with over 900 audio apps, so incompatibility should be rare.
You can use Amazon to buy the digital version of the album for download
Edit: Alternatively you can buy the CD and rip it for about the same price
I found it being sold on Amazon by a 3rd party seller in the UK. There were actually several, it looks like there was a repressing of the 2012 re-release. This seller had the best feedback and I've heard from several others that they're legit and don't produce bootlegs.
EDIT: Here's the link to the Amazon listing I found:
