i looked up the model number on it and this is like the exact one i have i think if anything my screen is just bigger bc it was marked down at best buy. but either way for the money i spent i love it. i used a lot of mods for awhile too and it was fine the only things that would suck are just the bugs the game itself has
I game frequently and my Lenovo Legion 5 handles all of my games very well while being relatively cheap for a gaming laptop!
you'll need 7-Zip unless you already have a different software to decompress files. if on Mac you'll need something like The Unarchiver.
as an example, this is for Windows: https://www.7-zip.org. click on either the first or second download link (depending on your computer) and click 'save' on the window that pops up. save it to your desktop. then double-click on that .exe file and it will install.
as for mods, they go into documents / electronic arts / the sims 4 / mods. creators will often mention this. you'll need to unzip them which is why you just had to install the above software.
also, they'll need to be enabled in game, under options -> other.
this one is a good addition if you enjoy more realistic gameplay: https://roburky.itch.io/sims4-meaningful-stories
if you like the idea (or just want to try) download the file called roBurky - MeaningfulStories.zip and save it to your desktop. you can right-click on it and extract it. then move the files to the sims 4 folder mentioned above.
My sister got this one She really likes it and it works great for both sims 3 & sims 4. And is budget friendly! Just make sure you get the one with the i5 processor not the ryzen. Ryzen will still work but i5 is better
