There are endless resources on the internet for bolstering your writing. Just search a few keywords and you'll find thousands of websites for that stuff. You can also read some of the "On Writing" titles released by all kinds of writers. If speech writing is something you want to pursue, read some speeches. You can find transcripts everywhere. Also, always look up words you don't know. Sam is regularly referred to as a genius and his vocabulary is epic.
The most important step you can take is devoting time to writing. Writing is a skill and it is honed just like any other. It takes hours and hours of practice on top of research to become a great writer. Also, READ. Read like your skill depends on it, because it does. Reading different authors and different genres is crucial to finding your own voice.
>I really wanna learn how to write as good as Sam!
I'll be snarky here. It's "write as well."
There's an app/website for that: justwatch
You tell it what country you're from, and you can view and search the contents of all the streaming services in your region
You can sort and filter by category, rating (imdb/rotten tomatoes) and more.
It's free. Check it out ☺
Even cheaper on Amazon, and no risk of it being removed from a distributor
You could certainly check out Aaron Sorkin’s MasterClass Product offering. They do also provide many many others, even one from David Axlerod and Karl Rove too.
I highly recommend the Script Books. I love reading the scripts, seeing what was cut, and the stage directions are just as poetic as the dialogue itself. They’re super expensive right now, I found them second hand for half this price, but I’ll link to Amazon so you know what you’re looking for. Maybe you can find them cheaper somewhere else
See if this isn't it. this
Also, we need to make some decisions on what we watch and when. The next episode in the Netflix queue is "Isaac and Ishmael." S3 also has the documentary special in it.
So, here is a survey for those questions. I'll check it before I post the next rewatch thread on Sunday.
No Spanish audio track, only subtitles. My set for comparison.
The book "When they go low, we go high"
Includes everything from Gettysburg, to "We will fight them on the beaches" to the modern day. Highly recommended.
It's got a bit of a silly title I'm not necessarily wild about (The American Patriot's Almanac), but I have really been enjoying it as part of my morning routine.
Funny story - I ordered one of these when I was living in the UK from this seller on Amazon. I wanted to be like Toby and have a pink spaldeen ball to bounce off the walls. If you look at the title on the Amazon page you can see it says "Spalding High Bounce Handball", singular. When the package arrived, it was A WHOLE BOX of pink spaldeen balls, about 24 of them. So I've been giving them out to people as gifts.
The little pink ball is a fixture on my desk, and I'll even take them to any internal meetings I go to.
At the moment, I'm using DaVinci Resolve (it's free!) to edit the video files into short chunks and then adding in the subtitle from there. Then uploading to ezgif to convert and optimise.
The complete series on DVD is available here for $98.76, which isn’t a bad price - you may want to wait until a B2G1 or Prime Day sale, though. I picked mine up in the 80s. It is a very nice package that looks lovely on a shelf.
The series is not available on blu-ray, nor is it likely to become so in the future.
NordVPN usually works for me with all the American streaming sites. However, I do wonder if you'd need a Spanish Amazon Prime account so you can watch though – I haven't been able to try myself. Hope you are able to find something that works! :)
I picked up the book when it came out in 2018 on account of being a bit disgusted by everything going on. It was actually a pretty decent read. Basically, Jon Meachem tries to put into perspective how things are (or were in 2018) by detailing other times in US history where we basically lost our damn minds and did a bunch of messed up stuff, then talked about how we got through it.
Kind of the right book at the right time, still pretty relevant: https://www.amazon.com/Soul-America-Battle-Better-Angels/dp/0399589813
Now the kid just needs this. ;-)
Congratulations, OP.
Btw, Amazon still has this set as part of a “Buy 2 get 1 free” promotion, and at a very nice price to boot. But I’m a physical media guy, so my perception is skewed in that direction.
Sorry. We tend to block any sort of ecommerce.
If you edit your comment with this link (stripped of all the referral codes and Amazon tracking, I'll manually restore it.
Try using a different VPN? One that allows you to select your location? I'm in Saudi Arabia visiting my family(I do this every year) and Saudi Netflix doesn't have it. When I connected to my VPN, Netflix immediately recognized it telling me that the service won't progress. However, I found out from a friend that it doesn't recognize it for *every* vpn, so using the same exact service(ExpressVPN) I literally switched the location from New York to New Jersey(not kidding) and for some reason it works. I don't ask questions because all I care about is my WW fix.
Nope, not in Sweden.
But I have found something at Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Rhodia-Classic-Staple-Bound-Yellow/dp/B001DCDSTY
Maybe it's them they're using? But they are frenchmanufactured. Hmm, not lightly.
It all revolves around a book that a lot of the characters have been reading. Donna is the first one that mentions she's reading the book. Don't think there's any real symbolism to be had here. I'm guessing it was just something Sorkin wanted to use to depict how race relations haven't changed as much as people like to think they are. There is a real book out there that could have been the inspiration for this part of the story.
