Reminds me of how the TasteDive site that's supposed to just be for finding shows, movies, etc. that you might like based on other things that you like occasionally shows random messages saying how bad socialism or communism or something is. (I've only seen it happen once or twice before, so I'm not sure how often they actually do it, but it was definitely a message on the site itself and not an ad or anything.)
Have you tried Taste Dive?
You could also try Letterboxd, but it's like IMDB. You don't get recommendations, but if you follow the right users, you'll always find something good. Its app has a good interface and is my go-to place for cataloguing movies and checking out what's popular.
Additionally, you might want to look into this link.
maybe Nirvanna The Band The Show, Joe Pera Talks With You, How To With John Wilson, Wonder Showzen. here is a full list of comedies i like tastedive.com/BennoArvid
Reading, if you like it is always a good option and will keep you occupied for longer periods of time. Assuming you have access to some kind of streaming service like Netflix, you could also find a show to start. Tastedive.com will recommend television shows to you that are similar to shows you have seen before.
A couple of years ago I watched the Bridget Jones movies and was surprised that I enjoyed them
also this is a super helpful website I just found
I don't think any of the competitions are really useful for finding new stuff to watch. It's more a measure of the networking skills possessed by the creators and/or distributors.
I mean, Harvey Weinstein didn't win all those Oscars because he was churning out quality stuff. Shakespeare in Love wasn't better than Saving Private Ryan, but Weinstein went around to convince everyone that his competition had no depth, that "it was all in the first fifteen minutes". And his methods worked, he could still just about guarantee at least a nomination whenever he wanted to.
While the Oscars are a separate thing, with their own separate problems, the whole clique-y thing is there in any body or association that hands out these kinds of things. These days you're better off using a dedicated search engine or looking for stuff based on other stuff you like. There's websites for that or /r/ifyoulikeblank does the same thing.
Hmmm have you watched interstellar? That kinda follows the theme you have going, also the new movie tenet is very good and mostly fits the build as well. Though it was somewhat confusing for my girlfriend so I dunno, depends what you like.
Also have you tried the site tastedive?
You can search for lists of films there and make your own favourite lists etc. https://tastedive.com/
If I had to recommend something a lot of younger people haven't seen I'd say the original jurassic park was amazing if you haven't seen it, aaaaand batman returns with danny devito and michelle pfeiffer as catwoman
SoaD is a nu-metal band as far as I know, so mayyybe you'll like Korn. Also after seein the Stage, for no reason I thought you may want to check out some Avantasia. It's actually power metal, unlike a7x but yeah... Ok I admit it, just wanted to recommend because I love Avantasia.
you should probably check out r/metal to discover new things. And try sites like https://tastedive.com/ . Just create an account. Enter things that you like and find out other things that you may like.
Here is a sight I use. (https://tastedive.com/). Go to TV SHOWS and at the top enter your tv show (example: Better Call Saul) and it will show you trending recommendations. If you liked "Better Call Saul" maybe try...Fargo, Breaking Bad, Mr. Robot, True Detective, House of Cards...the list goes on and on. You get the idea.
You could try TasteDive to get movie recommendations based on what you like. For The Big Short TasteDive recommends Spotlight, Trumbo or Bridge of Spies.
I agree that the stuff on the cinemas has been quite generic and bland for some time. But after digging around a bit there seems to be quite a lot of interesting movies being made in the last decade. I used tastedive.com, but I'm sure there are other similar sites.
The Guilty (2018) from Denmark - Trailer
The suspense in it grows in such an incremental way that you will be out of breath before you know what happened. And it doesn’t use anything other than amazing acting and an amazing story to achieve all of this. One man, in the equivalent of a 911 police center in Denmark, and a room. That’s it. He receives a call that turns his night around and puts him in front of very important questions on his ethics and how far he can go to help the people that call him.
here a little helpful website: https://tastedive.com/
These are my favs:
The L Word
How To Get Away with Murder
Better Call Saul
The Good Place
Please Like Me
Twin Peaks
https://tastedive.com/You can type in names of shows you like and it will give you a list of shows you will probably like.

Definitely can't offer any sort of relationship, I'm on the other side of the world, but definitely can throw some movie suggestions your way. I just watched "Under the Skin" and "Enemy" yesterday. Both great. Under the Skin is a mind fuck. "The Ritual" is another good one I've seen recently as well.
I find a lot of what I watch with this awesome movie suggestion website.
This site if fairly good: https://tastedive.com/movies it is usually films I have already seen though. If there are films you like, and want to see more that are in a similar vein, type them in with a comma separating each one. Then click recommend.
I use letterboxd as well, but look at the lists associated to a film. So for example If I really liked a film, I go the film page in question and scroll down to "popular lists", and have a look there based on the title of the lists. Sometimes I find interesting films that way.
I also follow people on Twitter who do film podcasts, or just generally are really into fillms. A lot of times people talk about films ask film related questions on there, and I find films that intrest me through that. Also some people make film related group chats on there as well. Other than using this subreddit, those are the main ways I find films.
Hi there,
This is not really the right kind of subreddit for your question. We are more about identifying a specific thing (movie,TV,Book etc) that you just can't quite remember. You are looking for recommendations and suggestions it looks like.
Might I suggest a sub like r/ifyoulikeblank/ or /r/MovieSuggestions/ ?
Also try the site https://tastedive.com/ (formerly TasteKid)- it gives you suggestion based on the movie/series/book you typed in.
There's TasteDive. It also gives recommendations aside from allowing you to rate things, but the recommendations aren't very good. I came up with what I think might be a better idea.
That's a phenomenon where when something is important to you, it gets foregrounded and you see it everywhere. There are films and TV that are less pandering, but more independent films, not studio stuff. https://tastedive.com/ Plug in a movie you like and this site will find others like it. I plugged in "Dances With Wolves," and it came up with several other good movies with strong and non-apologetic male leads.
In addition to what has already been suggested, there is also Tastekid - which appears to have changed its name to Tastedive since I last used it. You type in something you like and it suggests what else you might like. It works for books, music, films and TV shows.
Jesus Christ, I remember Wolverine and The Xmen. I got me feeling old now. She-ra's a pretty damn good show honestly. I ignored it for a while, but eventually gave it a shot. Loved it

There's a website that allows you to find really similar songs, if it helps:
This website literally is just for similar recommendations. Just search for mischief brew and it'll give you similar stuff. Works with music, movies, books, and video games. Spotify takes awhile but has a decent algorithm with the discovery weekly feature to suggest similar stuff too.
I'm removing the post because it doesn't have a specific enough description of what you're looking for/interested in (i.e. genres/decades/languages/plot lines/etc.). Requests that are primarily a list of films fit better on r/ifyoulikeblank. Please post there or repost with a more descriptive explanation of what you are looking for :)
P.S. you can also use sites like BestSimilar and TasteDive.
If you have any questions, please message us here.

You give it the name of the book you like and it'll use its AI to list a bunch of books that match the given book. It also works for movies, tv shows, songs and podcast.
It's frustrating, online servers don't last forever. You'll always get that person that says something like, "No worries, all you gotta do is connect to a private server... just hack your system." I get that, but some people don't want to jump through hoops, or risk damaging their hardware. Maybe a person is concerned about their own personal limitations, technically, and knows they'll brick thier console... they just know it. Phantasy Star Online is one of my favorite games of all time and I pine for the days when I could simply pop on my GameCube and rock with friends. It sucks, absolutely sucks that this stuff goes away. The best advice is to seek out a modern alternative. For me, it's Phantasy Star Online II. I've downloaded it on three different consoles so far and have yet to play it; I put the first PSO on such a high pedestal, I feel like playing PSO2 will be a disappointment - I need to get on it though, or I might miss my chance forever.
Here's a Taste Dive link for Battleborn. I hope this helps!

>Once signed in, you receive better, personalized recommendations for similar music, movies, TV shows, books, authors, games, and podcasts, based on what you like. You can build a taste profile, find people with shared interests, and keep up with their lists and discoveries.
I love this thing personally.
For general, non-genre-specific suggestions based on past preferences, you're much better off using a site that does specifically that. Taste.io and tastedrive are good options.
The Watch novels in the Discworld series are good but with the other media on your list, I’d start with the Death novels, specifically Mort by Sir Terry Pratchett.
You might be able to pull some more ideas from here: https://tastedive.com/kbingham313/nostalgia
You're welcome! I'm full of random website like that, I recently discovered https://tastedive.com/ - where you type in a thing that you love and it recommends other things that people love who also love your thing.
Psycho Pass is a thriller/detective. I don't know any others like that but that's a place to start. It used to be on Netflix, and Crunchyroll. It's currently on Funimation.com on subscription. Here's the tastedive page for it, they have stuff that's similar: https://tastedive.com/shows/like/Psycho-Pass
You're most likely bored with what you're listening to. Branch out and try new music. Here is a great resource: Tasetdive . Type in an artist or band you like and they will offer up recommendations. This is the best algorithm I've come across. It even knows all the weird and obscure experimental bands I like that you'll never find on last.fm.
Tastedive Very similar website but can suggest movies, TV and the like. Used to be called tastekid. I I remember correctly it can suggest you music based on a selection of movies/TV/books and visa versa.
I was looking around just now and came upon this! It's a website where you type in something that you like and it gives you suggestions. Maybe this will be of some help?
fatfingers.com
Searches eBay for listings that are misspelled/contain typos and therefor end with no bids because no one can find the listing.
I'm lazy, so here is wikipedia's description: A recommendation engine for films, TV shows, music, video games, and books. When a user types in the title of a film or TV show, the site's algorithm provides a list of similar content. It provides recommendations for TV shows to watch based on films liked by the user, and vice versa. It also provides recommendations for music, video games, and books, and includes film and TV trailers and music videos.
I consume most music through spofity and youtube. Spofity has a cool discover weekly feature where I can find new music, and youtube normally has some solid recommended videos for bands that i listen to.
Alternatively, there is a website called TasteDive that will give you recommendations based on what artist or band you type in (I think the site was created by a fellow redditor as well)
As far as Americana/Country type stuff, I'd like to humbly recommend one of my favorite artists Chuck Ragan - For Broken Ears.

Hopefully this will help in your search for new music.
I don't even know where to get suggestions to download that many movies. I'm a little under 2,500 and I'm busting my hump trying to find something decent I don't already have. Hell, I just added the Garbage Pail Kids movie, and even considering adding Vanilla Ice's movie Cool as Ice.
IMDb's suggestions are just a circle jerk of the same recommendations of movies with the same star in them, and tastedive's suggestions are a little better in that there's more than the 12 offered at IMDb, but they're often from the same small circle of movies, too.
Not sure if it would help you but I use a website called tastedive.com you put in thing that you like and it recommends you things. Like for example you can add your favorite music, movies, tv shows, books, authors, games and podcasts and it will recommend things based on what you like/dislike.
Tastedive.com is incredible for finding movies. Just add movies you've seen and it will match you up with other people who have the same tastes. Look at their lists and find ones you haven't seen. Tastedive aslo recommends movies based on the movies you've liked.
Hey, maybe you like what TasteDive recommends as similar movies for Cam, Searching and Ingrid goes west.
How about trying TasteDive's podcasts recommendation engine for this precise purpose?
https://tastedive.com/podcasts
Would love to hear some feedback on how it works for you!
Im always looking for shows like this. I absolutely LOVE historical shows! I really got into HBO’s “ROME”, The Shannara Chronicles, Game of Thrones, Vikings, Black Sails, Merlin was good but its not as action packed as the others and is family friendly but still a good watch. The Borgias is pretty good too! The Tudors was AMAZING and has some pretty accurate historical parts to it from what Ive read. Westworld is a great show too! The Last Kingdom, Marco Polo, Da Vinci’s Demon’s, Camelot was good but didnt last long but still worth a watch if youre into these types of shows. I started “The Bastard Executioner” but couldnt get into it at the time. Probably gonna try an watch it again though. Hell on Wheels was really good too! Turn is a good show if you hadnt seen it? Into the Badlands, The Musketeers, Falling Skies, Deadwood, The Pacific and Band of Brothers were AMAZING! Here is a website with tons of great shows and movies on it that has an awesome list on it! Theres just too many for me to write on here. Check it out and watch some trailers and see what you like and binge the hell outta some great shows and movies! Here ya go my friend! ——-> https://tastedive.com/like/Spartacus-Gods-Of-The-Arena
you should try this website: https://tastedive.com/

but here are some movies like this in my opinion:
To All The Boys I loved before (it's getting a sequel)
TKB also getting a sequel!
The first time
SPF-18 - this one is really bad, but you can watch it for Noah Centineo :)
Love, Rosie
Love, Simon

Do you have any more info on location, actor or actress, etc? I'm having a hard time just with plot details.
You might have heard of this website, but its pretty good af recommending movies similar to movies you type in. You can type in several movies separated by commas to get a more distilled recommendation.
https://agoodmovietowatch.com/
If you give https://tastedive.com/movies a film that you like it will return similar ones. It has "likes" but has more to do with a film's popularity than an assessment of its quality.
More resources here: https://www.google.com/search?q=movie+suggestions
I've used this one in the past and like it: TasteDive. Basically you enter something that you like and then it finds other people who have liked it and then it will recommend you other things popular among those. You don't have to make an account or anything like that though.
If you want to follow a standard web-dev route, you're going to be doing petty, boring work. Like others have said, you could perhaps use your ideas for mathematics for more complex scientific projects, with applications in deep learning for example, but that is clearly a much more untested route. Some examples of projects like this are https://tastedive.com/ a recommender site, http://www.pictriev.com/ finding lookalike celebrities etc
On reddit: /r/ifyoulikeblank, websites, there's a ton, like TasteDive, both for everything.
I myself recommend you go to Pandora, or if you already have an internet radio site you like go there, and enter band names you like and view "their" radio station- they'll play songs by the band(s) you like, and bands like theirs.
Everything is Illuminated might work for you; it's funny as hell and yet made me cry.
I found a website that seems to be in beta that gives recommendations across media that you might like called Tastedive. I already had Everything is Illuminated picked out and then they recommended it so I'm trusting it so far.
Pandora, Spotify, Wikipedia, local radio station playlists, are really good for music discovery. There's also a website that I use once in a while. Works for movies, shows, and books too.
