Take a look at this one: https://www.amazon.com/COSMO-C1-Transmission-Transmitter-SDI-Loopout/dp/B09K75Q533
Livestream the interview videos to the internet in real-time, and your VIPs can watch and listen to everything wherever they are in the whole world! Not just monitoring on phone APP 50 feet away.
Now there is a TON of stuff that is Creative Commons or in the public domain that you can use, remix, recut, etc to your hearts content... it’s just not the AMC or HBO clips you were thinking about.
https://ccsearch.creativecommons.org is a great Creative Commons search engine and https://www.appropedia.org/Public_Domain_Search is great for looking across public domain.
I use MPEG streamclip. Free and has a lot of options for you. A little confusing at first but after a little fiddling with it it's nothing.
Squared 5 is the developer. Also if you ever have any errors with the stable version there is an updated beta version that you can download that usually deals with whatever it was.
I'm an instructional designer who creates content and training for a large aerospace manufacturer. I create training videos and screen captures that link to a Learning Management System (LMS) to keep track of who's taken the training. Might be more than you need, but I use software called Articulate Storyline to do it. It also has screen capture capability.
If you're looking for a less complicated route, try VLC Media Player. It has capture capabilities, and it's free to download at https://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html.
Synology NAS if you've got cash to burn.
Or throw them all into a cable management box and call it a day.
You can use any camera with HDMI as a webcam but you will need an adapter
Oh, no, my phone has an audio jack.
I actually was looking at this mic on Amazon to buy: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088PPVYCX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_FZfdFb913H368
I guess I was just wondering how to use an audio splitter with a lapel mic like the one linked above.
For one, OBS is plenty, it is free, but in this case it is just as good as most alternatives. If you wanted to go professional, you would use something like Wirecast (I use it to run a podcast), but the difference between what you can do with OBS and Wirecast for most purposes is marginal. You do need a capture card, and the Blackmagic mini recorder is super high quality and will work on windows as long as you have thunderbolt (if you have thunderbolt 3 you will need an adapter from 2 to 3) but if you don't have thunderbolt, I would buy this one but honestly just looking on Amazon you can select one of your choice.
Hope this helps.
This is my favorite DIY for softboxes. I haven't had a chance to make them myself yet but I have ordered some cabled light sockets and will be attempting it soon.

The video from the webcam does look fine under normal circumstances, but I run into a lot of trouble using a chroma key backdrop. See here: https://youtu.be/74oet4pSNDs?t=1m44s
I can't resize us vs. the backdrop any more without some major artifacting.

HD webcams that are connected to the laptop just with regular usb?
Yes or via active usb extender cables such as https://www.amazon.co.uk/BlueRigger-Active-Extension-Repeater-Female/dp/B005LJKEXS/ref=pd_lpo_147_bs_img_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=5XTF7EG145X9N1PZY2Z9
Any suggestion to which one? Could you suggest mics and mixer? i use a cheap behringer usb mixer https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B008O516L0/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1481858123&sr=1-6&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=behringer+usb+mixer&dpPl=1&dpID=61gv6f5oIkL&ref=plSrch
many good quality mics available for under £100. you could even just use the mic on one of the USB cameras and do away with the mixer altogether if it was close enough to the person - audio quality will not be as good as using dedicated mics. if you let me know about the anticipated set up / scene you're wanting to broadcast i can advise in more detail
I actually have a VIXIA R500--I'd forgotten it has HDMI out! So really, all I need is the capture card. I've got a desktop I can put it in, so it looks like an internal one is the way to go. Is there any reason not to go with this one?
Thanks again for all your help.
