I use hitfilm express, it's a free editing software and it's way better than movie maker or any other free software IMO.

That would be a large amount of tracking and parenting. There are a lot of tutorials on both of those processes on YouTube. Specifically tutorials of how to do this using Hitfilm
That's a free program made by good people, all they ask is some recognition but you'll get to that with that link.
Thanks! I used Hitfilm Express! It's free and for my purposes at least, it's great for doing sprite gifs/videos. It's easy to get a handle on it after learning how to do composition shots from tutorials.
I've just started trying to do some editing and the people over at /r/videoediting suggested HitFilm Express as well as a few others. But that's the one I went with. There's a great YouTube channel that has tutorials that I've been using. There are the ones they themselves have posted that are good too. I did this the second day I was playing with it.
As a solution for the audio problem this might work?
You might have both people record through OBS on their computer, and separate the different audio streams (MIC, game, discord, srs) in OBS. This generates two large video files (multigig). There are files like Virtual Audio Device to add more "lines" to record from in windows
Share the files through g-drive.
Then the editor uses something like Audacity should be able to extract each of the audio streams from the video file and uses a video editing software to sync the video to the audio and then splice everything together.
If you're not a student of a college/university, then HitFilm Express is a decent, powerful, and free* film editing package you might consider. * - full version costs $$, and the add-ons cost $$.
I'd run through tests, like playing a multiplayer game together (DCS, Team Fortress, whatever) to test levels, system load, game speed, getting a feel for the workflow in the beginning, etc.
One thing you might consider, is that I don't think there's going to be a lot of training for the RIO position. Some might take a swipe at it, but I don't think there's going to be a lot of in-depth training done. Hell, the best training is from mistakes, and stopping to point out the mistake and corrective actions can be a teaching moment, too.
There are TONS of good editing software out there. If you are looking for something high-end I would suggest Adobe Premiere Pro. If you are looking for something free, Hitfilm is very good.
I use a piece of software called Hitfilm Express, it has just about everything you need for some high levels of video editing for free (although I imagine it would be limited in certain aspects of professional filmmaking) but they offer more features and whatnot for a price. you just need to share it on some social media (I just made a Google+ account to share it on). It's one of the few too good 'to be true' deals that's actually legit.
I have to edit on a potato, and I'm looking at the specs between Shotcut and HitFilm Express and it seems like Shotcut is less system-demanding but comparable to HitFilm in terms of features. What exactly makes HitFilm Express the superior video editor?

EDIT: I currently edit on Davinci Resolve, it is way too slow on my computer.
Try the free version of Hitfilm. It has significant capacity to work on improving the look of a video.
There is some learning if you never edited before, but it is manageable using tutorials on YouTube.
Audacity or Reaper are good audio editing programs and are both free. Reaper is much better, but can be a lot to take in for someone new to audio editing. Being able to see the waveform makes it easy to identify disrupting sounds. And looking at it from a timeline perspective is intuitive. But if you want to work with both the audio and video at the same time, Magix (formally Sony) Movie Studio is really good. I've heard a lot of good things about HitFilm video editing software. It's free, but if you want to do any advanced editing, you have to pay for module/plug-ins. I have not used it though, but again, have heard good things about it. https://fxhome.com/express
People will tell you this is the wrong subreddit, but I thought I would give some feedback. I also find it cool you did this. I found a "diy" audiobook (short story) on YouTube many years ago of Isaac Assimov's "The Last Question" and it got me into audiobooks. I've thought of doing a certain controversial book, since I don't think any commercial outlet would risk doing it....but audiobooks are becoming a very popular way of consuming written knowledge.
If you aren't the type to pirate software, HitFilm Express seems like a pretty powerful free option. I've used it a little in the past, and it seems to have the core features of modern editing software.
Ok, now I have a better grasp on what's happening here. Go grab one of the editors from the monthly software request thread. Personally I recommend DaVinci Resolve, but it can be demanding if you don't have a good GPU, and a lot of people like HitFilm Express. Both are free and have a plethora of useful functionality.
Anyway, so what you do is create a new project and set either the project settings or the sequence settings (where and how you change these settings depends on which app you're using) and set that to your desired dimensions. You then import your video in there, and scale it so that it fills the frame.
It's not too hard to do, but the details depend on knowing what tool you're using. But it's a starting point!
Generally speaking we don't recommend web apps. As you can see, they're rather limited in what they can do, and can be costly. Free tools like HitFilm Express and DaVinci Resolve can deliver quite a powerful experience with very few strings attached.
I usually recommend HitFilm Express or DaVinci Resolve, whichever works best for you, but I'm sure there are other free NLEs out there that could do this.
Most editing programs can do this, you just need to set the project or sequence resolution to a 16:9 aspect ratio. Super basic apps like iMovie take all that control away because they think it'll confused users.
I'd check out HitFilm Express or DaVinci Resolve.
A motion graphics too like After Effects or Motion. Maybe you could do it in HitFilm Express, I'm not too familiar with its limitations.
Can do a lot of creative text in Powerpoint software and then import those into imovie or other program.
There's also https://fxhome.com/express Which is something has a unique learning curve but very useful.

Hitfilm express is free as well. Here are the specs required (https://fxhome.com/express/specs#tech)
Hopefully this will work for you. Though, I'd suggest YouTube tutorials to teach you how to figure out how to use whichever software you want.
I'm not that familiar with iMovie, but most editing software should let you change the resolution and move the clip to the center of the frame. Hitfilm Express should let you do this if you are looking for a free option, but other software also has the capability.
The video itself is very intresting , it does not feel a video production studio level of polish, like one of Vsauses videos , and it sits kinda on the on uncanny valley of polished , idk why , i just feel this , i cant help you with this , i dont really know how to make a polished video , as the edining style i know is a flashy edining style , like youtube poops or MLGs
and that style whould look werid on a informational video
If you look at the beggining at the PC that is playing footage you can see that there are som nonsensical cuts in the shown video , and form that i can deduct that you put the videos in the actual recoding , and like can spot some cuts that where supposed to not be seen as cuts
my advice on this is to put a empty greenscreen on the PC , then edit the stuff you want to be shown by using overlay and chroma key
About the shotcut thing , i think shotcut isnt made for a polished video editing , i think it is made for a Flashy , fast , funny , editing style . Shotcut for its price (Free) is very good
If you want a polished video , try using hitfilm express , idk if it is any good , its layout is kinda confusing (for 10-12 year old me) , it seems like something a pro whould use , movies have been made on hitfilm so it think it is good
Try Hitfilm! There is free version, I believe it is called Hitfilm express. It's a little limited in features being free version, but it allows you to buy extra features if you don't want to pay for full version!
Here's OBS. Just install it and learn to record with it. If you need to edit your videos Hitfilm Express is free too. Tutorials are even easier to find than the OBS ones. It can't fix this recording but it's good to keep these in your back pocket for the future. You never know when one of these once in a lifetime events will happen.
I wouldn't download the Mac OS for light video editing. I use HitFilm Express on Windows for free. It's pretty decent, and I was used to using Adobe for years.

I suggest getting another drive. One for your dad's stuff and one for you're games. It'll keep things more organized and secure.

I suggest trying to save up a bit more money to get an RX 580. If you can't, then a GTX 1050ti seems like your best option.
I haven't tried many besides Camtasia and Pinnacle editor. but I'm having a blast with Hitfilm. I'm using their free version (Hitfilm Express) and considering on upgrading to full-version.
Give it a try, OP! https://fxhome.com/express
Hitfilm 4 Express - it's basically Adobe AE and PR for free, tonnes of free plugins from the devs and community content. It has extremely advanced tools for post-processing and VFX. A complete editing package for amateurs all the way to high budget movies with advanced CGI.
I can recommend Hitfilm Express! This video editing software is very good, has a lot of tutorials for it and is easy to learn (I think). The program is free and I've been using it and so far I've really enjoyed editing on it (except for when it lags)
Here's a link: https://fxhome.com/express
One other editing software I can recommend is Davinci Resolve (there is a free version and a paid version) but I personally prefer Hitfilm Express!
Hope this helps you out ^^ Good luck
Thank you!! I found it so much more fun to record candid videos of people in action rather than to try to stop and get everyone to pose for pictures. There's a lot more I wish I could have captured but I wanted to enjoy myself too! 😊
You should totally make a video for Nocturnal!! I used HitFilm Express. It's free and there are tutorials on YouTube if ya need it!
If you're looking to tinker around, HitFilm Express is easy to use and has plenty of features that come in the free version. It does 4K, has slicing, transitions, color correction, etc. All the basic stuff that you can learn on before deciding to purchase something like Adobe Premiere or similar.
have you heard of this. https://fxhome.com/express
just looking at the screenshots it seems to work in a similar fashion to premier, I can't personally vouch if it is any good but maybe worth checking out.
https://fxhome.com/express/whats-new
The site says one of the updates is the ability to put text directly into the editor by using a text effect, but there is no such effect in the Effects tab, so I'm stumped.
Except for that, the changes are pretty nice. There's now a much needed layout tab for aligning things to the centre, there's a more natural way to switch to full screen, some small new effects, and some new layout options that make it a lot nicer. I don't think it's any faster. The best feature is being able to keyframe effects in the editor without making a composite shot. But the text effect is really bugging me because I've wanted them to sort this for ages.
