I don't know what folks are going on about in this thread but at my last gig we used the Xamarin bindings for Firebase and it worked just fine. We used it for push notifications, both for registering devices and receiving notifications
We are small company, doing automation stuff. Now we have 3 xamarin apps in production: terminal for taxi drivers of local taxi company, app for that taxi customers, and app for automated trucks weighing terminal where authorized users can do some specific stuff.

If you’re using Xamarin.TestCloudAgent, make sure to remove it from the release build:
#if DEBUG
Xamarin.Calabash.Start();
#endif
Yes. Or, if you don't want to set it up yourself, here you can find VMWare images. https://thepiratebay.uk.net/torrent/15544144/Mac_OS_X_El_Capitan_10.11.6_(15G31)_(Image_for_VMware)_%5BSadeemPC
Good thing to know is I'm fetching data from the three current platforms via a cronjob to my database. The app connects via an api setup with Laravel 5. Images are downloaded and cached via the UriImageSource from Xamarin. The app is being build with Xamarin.Forms.
I've reached the point where I want to save local settings like favorites. I'm thinking about using Realm (https://realm.io/docs/xamarin/latest/) for this.
I'm a little new with this so any tips, suggestions I should keep in mind?
Thank you :)
I have this Idea Bag 2, it's written entirely in C# with Xamarin.Android. At my workplace, I'm also building the mobile app there in Xamarin.Android.
Uodate on my app. After a few back and forths they finally approved it!.I’m not sure why they changed their minds. Maybe because I told them I was going to post on Reddit :) If anyone has time can you please check it out? It’s a very simple app and I know everyone on here is chomping at the bit to see it (that’s sarcasm) The app was an idea I got after hearing a local radio station talk about the concept and how it’s legal in most states. Anyway thanks for the replies.

No I don't think so, but...
Another option you can take a look at is the Synfusion Image Editor from the Synfusion suite of controls. They even have a demo app you can download from the play store which shows how the image editor works.
I'm not sure whether it has the feature you're looking for though, but if you're going to implement this manually, you can use gesture recognizers on the image to allow the user to pan & zoom, and use SkiaSharp to produce the final cropped result.
I did something similar https://hastebin.com/xivedujeqe.cs
But now the issue I have is that I want to do a following thing:
When user click on the InfowWindow, to redirect him to some other page.
I tried to add GestureRecognizer on my AnnotationVIew, and the recognizer has delegate function with `Shell.Current.GoToAsync("//somePageRoute")` and it sets properly gesture recognizer but nothing really happen.
Hi. I just posted a response on Stackoverflow. https://stackoverflow.com/a/44247701/57114
Here it is again:
Yes. You can insert a token into the MobileServicesClient and then use it had been authenticated directly. That's the beauty of bearer tokens.
Just set the MobileServiceClient CurrentUser:
MobileServiceclient Client; ... Client.CurrentUser = new MobileServiceUser(username) { MobileServiceAuthenticationToken = authtoken};
Does this stackoverflow help? It sounds like it's what you need.
FWIW, It was literally the first hit from googling: xamarin "You need to use a Theme.AppCompat theme (or descendant) with the design library."
> In that case you would have to have a database of sorts and send the token to a server and make the connection between the option that is tapped and the device token. Then when sending you can query the list and send it to all the tokens that are subscribed to a certain channel
FCM has a built in notion of "topics" which are basically channels, so there is no need to do the heavy lifting yourself when FCM's servers can do it for you (CrossFirebasePushNotification.Current.Subscribe
should be enough to get started on that in Xamarin). When one dispatches a notification, you can then dispatch to the corresponding topics when you don't need to do fine-grained filtering of the recipients.
Hi Seraph321,
Sure it's https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vlix.contacts
It's on open testing. So far a few devices I've tested all of them launches fine. Just google tests doesn't seem to work.
https://www.udacity.com/course/android-basics-nanodegree-by-google--nd803 at the bottom are some project with the class listed under them. If you click the class it will take you to it to "start free course"
You can use https://www.virtualbox.org/ to create a Mac VM, which I haven't tried myself. I think if you do it this way you will be able to build for your IOS devices, but you will not be able to publish your app to the app store. To be able to publish to the app store I think you will need to buy a Mac, though maybe there is a clever way to do it with an Iphone/Ipad.
Ok so a quick Google has returned me the docs that explain how to do it.

Have a read of this, and if it doesn't look familiar or doesn't work, let us know with further details.
This is one of the things I find more lacking in Xamarin Forms and in the past few weeks I have been working on a port of WPF's CollectionViewSource that lets you do exactly what you want - sorting and filtering based on XAML properties/bindings instead of having to manually modify your backing collection.
It's still in preview and it is almost entirely made to fit my needs, so I would be very happy if you can give it a try and submit any feedback you may have!

Great! However I was a bit ahead of myself, from what I can gather, there is no way to take a picture, crop, and optimize size with Xamarin Essentials.
That, however, is something that James's Xam.Plugin.Media package does very well.
I feel like I should be wrong because it seems like such a essential feature to have so correct me if I'm wrong.
Regarding tests, there are non at the moment so I'll have to get on that before I make some serious changes.
I'd recommend using the fingerprint Nuget package that handles and does everything for you
https://www.nuget.org/packages/Plugin.Fingerprint/
If you go to the source repository, you ll also see the sample code
Yes, this is easily doable to do in Xamarin. If you want full control over your visualization, use SkiaSharp canvas, where you can draw any shapes in real time. For the sound input, use the AudioRecorder plugin in Stream mode. This could be a small Xamarin Forms application, where everything will work without platform specific code.

Of course Xamarin gives you raw access to all native APIs, and native Android XML layouts / iOS Storyboards, so if you hit something that cannot be done cross-platform, you can always go one level down and do platform specific implementations, but for your app it shouldn't even be necessary.
I used simple console logs two display execution time. Unfortunetly Xamarin Profiler requires VS Enterprise:
" You will need to be a <strong>Visual Studio Enterprise</strong> subscriber to unlock this feature in either Visual Studio Enterprise on Windows or Visual Studio for Mac on a Mac. " from Xamarin Profiler docs
I ran this operation in separate task so I can display progressbar for user. I need to save some document created by user (logic behind this is pretty complex). To not go into to much details this operation requires some calculations, db queries, updates and inserts. After that I navigate user to the previous fragment.
I'll try to increase thread priority. Thanks for that suggestion :)
I would very highly recommend this book: Xamarin.Forms Projects: Build multiplatform mobile apps and a game from scratch using C# and Visual Studio 2019, 2nd Edition eBook: Hindrikes, Daniel, Karlsson, Johan, Ortinau, David: Amazon.com.au: Kindle Store
You will learn a lot working through this, but specifically there's a chapter on building a real time chat application using SignalR and a chapter on building a scalable back end using Azure Functions and blob storage. You should be able to easily adapt this to what you want to do.
Hi u/imcoveredinbees880, I have successfully made a paid version of the app. You can check the permissions. You can check the pro version (paid) here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mecodes.filemanager.pro

An app we made with Xamarin Forms a year ago, took damn long time (night and week-ends) and still some bugs, but a ton of animations
I work for my local council and we are building a iOS and adroid app for the residents of cardiff using xamarin.forms.
I've been work with xamarin.forms for just over a year and i love it.

I was trying to find the code samples to the book below but I'm coming up with nothing. I bought this book and it's great. He uses NinJect for DI and it's quite easy. Definitely worth buying. https://www.amazon.com/dp/1785287192
