ASDR Sample Manager - ADSR Sample Manager makes your entire sample library searchable and audible directly in your DAW with smart and custom tags. Preview any sample in your library in the context of your track using MIDI or drag audio directly to your project. Standalone and plug-in now included.
You could try the free plugin called ADSR Sample Manager instead of the Media bay. I have too many samples for the media bay to be efficient to use as well, and this plugin has saved me. You can drag and drop samples directly onto your tracks from it.
The ADSR Sample Manager is a favorite among many, and for a good reason. First, it's free, and it has plenty of features, including extensive tagging, previewing, and integration into your DAW as a VST/AU/AAX plugin!
I actually really like ADSR, it's great for when I know exactly what I'm looking for, EG kick, snare, 808.
But it's also really good when just searching for interesting sounds, EG metallic, funk, sheen.

You can download this https://www.adsrsounds.com/product/software/adsr-sample-manager/, add all your libraries, including your splice folder, makes it a li'l easier to access them, as long as the tags are good.
I'd download as many samples and sounds as you can and use ADSR Sample Manager. You can use it to explore your entire sample library and find sounds randomly. It led me to trying out sounds I'd never have, and then creating beats or learning things I wouldn't otherwise have done.
Explore new workloads and methods. If you don't ever use chops, start chopping, if you only use loops, make a melody, if you never use a vocal sample, use a vocal sample.
As mentioned before, using User Library folder to keep all of your samples (in subfolders) is a good idea. Just don’t “collect and save” your projects (to avoid duplicates).
You can add shortcuts to a specific folder (for example “Drums” subfolder that resides in your User Library) in Ableton Live’s browser for faster browsing.
Bonus tip - use a sample manager to catalogue your library.
Was gonna mention Sitala as well! And if you like to organize your samples, then definitely try out ADSR so you can drag your files to Sitala's app.
These are two recent apps I'm just learning about, but they've been promising so far!
Here's a tool I found that might help. It's free and looks pretty useful. Also works as a plug-in so that's cool. Sadly I haven't delved to deep in it yet (spent the last year planning and getting married) but I'm looking forward to giving it a go. https://www.adsrsounds.com/product/software/adsr-sample-manager/
I have hundreds of GB of samples on my MPC Live. Everything from corrosive Mirage samples to vox to multi gig pianos. Only way to survive is using the search function and quick links(current folder/save folder/samples/programs/projects). After that it’s super liberating to have all the sounds you need with you. To me it like being in a massive recording studio, you don’t need everything all the time but it’s there when you do.
ADSR sample manager is free for the computer. It organizes key, tempo, tags, and allows you to repitch or timestretch them: https://www.adsrsounds.com/product/software/adsr-sample-manager/
You mentioned sampling the Drumbrute, this guy did an epic sampling of the Impact: https://www.reddit.com/r/TechnoProduction/comments/seijeu/free_sample_pack_3000_oneshots_from_the_arturia/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
Just use the ADSR sample manager. You can put all your samples in one folder and the sample manager will organize everything in a VST plugin with tags and genre and search terms. https://www.adsrsounds.com/product/software/adsr-sample-manager/

It's a free audio file management tool. Most of the files I have have keywords in the meta tags and the program can also use the filename and folder names to match search queries.
On my HDD I keep the SFX files in the following structure.
SFX > SOURCE > Collection > Sub Collection
Where source is the site I got it from and then collection is the bundle it came in and if that bundle had folder they are the sub collection.
I also keep a copy of the license with each collection.
I don't believe so but you can always download ADSR Sample Manager and do that.

For music and SFX I use ADSR Sample Manager. A nocost audio asset management tool.

To do this efficiently you need a sample manager plugin. I use the ADSR one as its free and fairly lightweight. Just drag it onto a MIDI channel add the FX you want and then single click to audition your samples. It also auto analyses your sample folders so as well as browsing folders you can tag search like 808 or SNARES or whatever. https://www.adsrsounds.com/product/software/adsr-sample-manager/
Get a sound sample manager. I use adsr to manage my 25,000+ sound and music library I've collected over the years.

It's free and work quite well.
XLN audio XO (pretty pricey though). Another alternative would be ADSR Sample Manager which is free which automatically tags all your samples, which you can filter and browse depending on which sample you're looking for, kinda like Splice.com, if you've used it. Here you go: https://www.adsrsounds.com/product/software/adsr-sample-manager/
ASDR Sample Manager is free and tags all your samples for you. I used it for years. It obviously will miss tags on certain samples but I was SUPER impressed by how many tags it actually got right or were helpful. never manually organized again

ADSR's free Sample Manager should work for this purpose. It's intended for audio samples for use in programs like GarageBand or Logic Pro, but also works well with any standard audio file type in the standalone version. Install it, point it at your audio files, let it index them, and you should be able to audition each one almost instantly.

If you're using Alchemy for "sample management/previews" just get an actual sample manager software and call it day.
Logic 10.5 also includes a redesign of the DMD which literally leverages the existing sampler within Logic.
ADSR Sample Manager might be what you are looking for. It automatically scans your library and tags the samples so you can easily search through them. It's for free as well.
edit: u/djinnmusic beat me to it lol

I don't remember if it comes with standalone version. I would have to check out yourself. I use it t as vst in any daw, over their in-house sample browsers.
No problem! Also I saw you asking about free VSTs. Well here are a few: Komplete Start by Native Instruments, Spitfire LABS and Image-Line FLEX (included in FL Studio). Also since hip-hop is sample-driven, get yourself a decent sample manager like ADSR and get as much samples as you can from sources like Cymatics, Loopmaster, Samplemagic, Splice Sounds and even Native Instruments (their expansions). Cymatics has also a lot of free samples you can download.
I use ADSR sample manager. It's got all the features you need in a browser. It's free btw.
It runs as vst inside FL. Adds tags automatically to your samples from the filenames. You can add all the folders and search inside ADSR sample manager find all the samples. Also you can add to favorites.

Put your active Cubase projects on your SSD (and Cubase & your OS, obviously).
When you're done working on a project, move it to an HDD "archive" (I personally put mine on an external drive if they're older than X years, leaving newer ones on one of my internal HDDs).
I put samples that I've created & use often on one of my SSD's, and my giant unsorted sample library on a HDD (which I typically access with ADSR Sample Manager).
People recommend putting your sample library on an SSD, but if you have a large one, I wouldn't really recommend it unless you got money to burn.
And if you haven't already discovered it, ADSR's sample manager software is great for organising/finding samples:

ADSR Sample Library manager is free, and has many of the features found in paid-for library library tools. it doesn't support regex though :)
