I use Hyperdock(USD$9.95)! It also provides window management tools like snapping. Also, you get to have bubbles above your dock icons showing previews to the windows. Especially useful if you minimise your window into the apps.
Edit: thought I would add on another useful tweak/app/tool. Bartender Helps to organise that overcrowded status bar. Also, I insist my icons are monochrome so this tool helps me hide those awful odd coloured icons.
If you download an app that you want to record voice notes into, you have to allow the app to connect to your microphone. It doesn’t mean the app is recording you when you talk forever. Same thing here
Actually, the developer said you can upgrade for free if you purchased Bartender 3 after April 2020 or something. I’m not totally sure how it works but if you scroll down in the website, you can see where it says that: https://www.macbartender.com/
But I will say, I’m also not a fan of the pricing model they use. Now I’d be more than happy to support the developer if they still supported older versions, but in order for Bartender to still work with new versions of macOS, even if you don’t need the new features, you have to upgrade. It’s essentially a subscription in order to keep using an app you’ve payed for and I think that’s why a lot of people opt for free versions.
Main details are
What you see:
Bartender: https://www.macbartender.com
Minimal Theme: http://noshery.deviantart.com/art/Minimal-Themes-macOS-642931426
mySIMBL: to get rid of window title and icon
appicns: http://appicns.com
Also custom toolbars in both safari and finder. Got rid of buttons that I don't use and added some padding to keep the search bar centered.
In the meantime, I would recommend Bartender (1mo trial, then $15). It allows you to hide basically any menubar icon. You can either hide them completely or put them in a separate bar. It's really great, I've been using it since its beta.
Same! The notch is just not something I notice and I appreciate the extra screen real estate. It's funny how just adding like 100 extra "pixels" at the top for the menu bar to live in makes things like browser windows feel so much taller.
The one thing that annoyed me for a second was how the screen handles menubar items, I'm one of the weirdos that has a bunch of them, and then I heard on a podcast about an app called Bartender that lets you stick all the ones that aren't always needed (but you still want easy access to) into a separate bar, and all my problems disappeared.
Because the System Integrity Protection (SIP) is further tightened in High Sierra, system menu bar items (battery indicator, Spotlight, clock etc.) can't be controlled by Bartender.
Fortunately, it's been fixed in Bartender 3 which is a free upgrade (if you're in Bartender 2):
Connect the magsafe + ethernet, power off, restart holding CMD +R. Select disk utility from the menu. Like this. From disk utility select erase follow the pompts. THIS WILL DELETE ALL DATA!!! Close disk utility and from the main menu select reinstall OS X follow the prompts.
TLDR: I think Apple should buy the companies that make TotalFinder, Bartender, Boom 2 and integrate their work into OSX.
It's called Bartender: https://www.macbartender.com
It's a menu bar manager for Mac OS. If you click the three dots it will expand the panel and reveal all of the icons I have on my menu bar. I highly recommend checking it out!

Only thing I can think of is Bartender. https://www.macbartender.com
I have been using it for years, LOVE IT! Lets you hide unneeded icons so that the menubar is not over filled on a MacBook.
it allows you to hide and manage menubar apps.
The Bartender Blog has instructions on how to get it working again.
u/SecureEnclave, want to add that link to your post?
Edit: New blog post: https://www.macbartender.com/blog/macOS-Mojave-Beta1-Test-Build/
New test build specifically for Mojave users. Automatic update will suggest the new version if you are running Mojave Beta.
Isn't there a Bartender like application on Android? Bartender, btw, is a Mac app for Menu Bar app:

If there's none, this would be a perfect time for someone to come up with similar solution.
Dock was customized with cDock. Icons are mostly from a mac-oriented icon set called "minimalist white icons", which I can't seem to find right now. Some are self-made. Changing the icons is possible manually, but much easier using LiteIcon. I use a dark menu bar with only the most important menu bar items visible, the others are hidden with Bartender.
I like Unclutter which is for quick note taking, quick access to some files, and clipboard history. It's $6, but worth it IMHO.
I also really like Bartender for organizing and hiding my menu bar icons. It also costs money, $15 to be exact, but there's a free trial all see if you think it's worth it.
There might be other similar ones for free, but I love these for the nice & tidiness they offer. Just something to keep on your radar.
FYI, they didn't fix the menu bar items not showing up to the right side of the MacBook Pro 2021 M1 camera notch.
If you have too many menu bar items, some of them just don't show up at all instead of spacing them closer together.
At the moment, you still have to use Bartender App to be able to view all menu bar items or connect to an external display. This is particularly problematic for applications that have preferences that are only accessible via their menu bar icon, such as Microsoft OneDrive, Nextcloud Client, or Google Drive.
You need to use Bartender to hide those. It's not new in Monterey. A small number of third-party apps use Menu Extras that can be removed with command-drag (e.g. iStat Menus), but 90% of them use a menu type that cannot be removed – except by quitting the app.
Yeah. Thanks.
If you have so many icons they hide below the notch you can check out Bartender:
https://www.macbartender.com/. Not free but for me worth the one time payment.
The nice guys from Top Notch recommended it.
There are various reasons to want to hide menu bar items, but if you're just doing it for aesthetics, you might check out an app like https://www.macbartender.com/ which will let you hide any number of menu bar items.
Try to install Bartender
That should show you all of the menu items installed. That may give you some clue as to what it is.
Also, install and run Malwarebytes just to be safe.
Spotlight not only allows you to search but you can do conversions and calculations.
If you download Cheatsheet you can hold down the ⌘-Key and it will bring up active shortcuts for the current application. Cheatsheet
You won’t find your Mac slowing down anytime soon but when it does, there’s a maintenance tool called Onyx that is really good. It is also free.
To keep your Mac from sleeping Caffeine has long been the app of choice but I don’t believe it has been updated in a while. I may be wrong. Amphetamine does the same thing and can be downloaded from the App Store or from the dev directly.
Alfred is another great app. It does similar things to Apple’s inbuilt search (Spotlight) and has other functionality. Free to use with an optional power pack that is a paid upgrade.
Then there’s Bartender which allows you to hide apps in the menu bar. It isn’t free but I believe you can try it out as they offer a free trial. Actually just checked. Their latest version is available feee for as long it is in beta.
There’s a whole lot more apps that are worth a mention. I recommend watching YouTube and searching for best free Mac apps as there many worthy your consideration. Of course there are loads of paid apps. Oh and finally if there is an app you are after, check both the App Store and directly form their website as sometimes it is better to download from the developer directly. I recently found an app that was free to download with optional donation or chance to buy that is a paid app on the store. Of course this does mean, you’ll have to update it manually rather than through the store. Enjoy your MBA. I have both a PC (desktop) and two Mac laptops (2015 MBP & M1 MBA) and I still get excited to use the Macs.
Ok, I didn’t look into this properly. In my original comment I thought every version of Bartender was a paid upgrade and therefore was skeptical of whether that was actually necessary; turns out Bartender 3 (at least according to their webpage) was a free upgrade.
In that case, I agree with you and I understand the cost for major upgrades
Some good improvement in menu bar management, but in typical Apple fashion, they'll let you only customize some of it, and some other they think they just know better than you how you should use your Mac so you're stuck with the Apple way 🤦♂️
I've used Bartender for years and it works really well. Haven't tried their Big Sur update yet, they're still "public beta" and you can use the trial until it goes GM apparently.
I installed Bartender3, (give the system permissions it asked) and the notification icon just magically appeared. Then I just uninstall Bartender3 since I'm not gonna use it.
Downie is a weird one since it has an animated icon when downloading, so whenever it appears in my dock it displays the normal icon ANYWAY. I might take a crack at it today though.
Also Bartender is very much NOT WORKING. The dev is working on a beta for Big Sur: https://www.macbartender.com/blog/macOS-Big-Sur/
Install Dozer or Bartender3 to hide menu icons, makes my Macbook feel fresh and new with only Wifi, Battery, Date and Siri visible in the menu bar and everything else hidden, removing clutter with above mentioned apps.
Hide your Desktop icons with simple automator script found here.
I use stock wallpaper, in this case Catalina Dynamic Wallpaper.
I made Automator script to Reset Dock to default.

"New feeling" passes with all the items and devices over time. It is normal, as our brain seeks new things to keep him entertained and occupied. If you think that makes problem to you go see therapist that can help you out as buying and returning devices because they aren't feeling new after short time is not normal.
Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but I've used [Bartender](https://www.macbartender.com/) for quite a while now and have been overall satisfied with it. I believe it's a paid license, but I got mine through Setapp. You can choose which menubar icons you want to show/hide either at all times, or specifically when that app is running as well. Really handy for when you want to avoid cluttering up your menubar, especially with native macOS apps.
Drag it approximately over 1/3 of screen height and wait for 2 seconds. If it shows "⊘" instead of "⊗", then it's bounded by app and can't be removed. In that case, you can only configure that app to stop showing menubar icons, or just quit that app. Many apps will have option to control whether the menu bar icon shall be used; try to look for it in app preference settings.
Alternatively, use Bartender 3 to hide it.
Great little app called Bartender. It hides icons from the Menu Bar. Really flexible, too – you can make icons reappear to the front if they've been active in the past minute, etc.
Night Owl - Like the nightshift feature for MacOS, but wish you could schedule it between day and night? This right here is the one.
Bartender 3 - Is your menu bar overly cluttered but you don't want to remove them, instead you wish you could clean up the bar and have a tab to quickly access those menu bar items? This is the one for you.
I'm expecting a notch. If I were making the hardware decisions I'd do that - its a good compromise design, and they have the conceptual and API groundwork laid already with safe areas [1]. It's just another smart thing to port over from iOS.
I don't necessarily think they'll go dark mode. Instead I think they might rethink the top menu a bit for notched Macs, handling cases of apps with many menus and menu bar items (probably like Bartender [2]).

I posted this a few weeks ago thinking of similar solution akin to Bartender 2 | Mac Menu Bar Item Control:
https://reddit.com/r/Android/comments/8grg8q/_/dyi7s5p/?context=1
Chris one of the things that you mentioned was that a lot of Mac power users tend to have a ton of icons there's actually an application specifically that allows you to hide them that's called bartender https://www.macbartender.com it's decently powerful and when I have to use mac I have it installed for just that purpose.
The current download doesn't work as it was discussed here and everywhere ever since el capitan came out - then someone recently converted it, since you're obviously too lazy to look up how, which is super fucking easy to find - I copy pasted and reformatted the tutorial here so you stop bitching :P
Here are some even more clear instructions.
Unzip
Disable System Integrity Protection (Only if using 10.11+)
Open mySIMBL.app
Enter password to install SIMBL
Enable System Integrity Protection (Only if using 10.11+)
Unzip
Open Flashlight.app
Install the plugins you want to use
Open Spotlight and start using Flashlight
... and NO, this isn't very straight forward because it is not a paid, supported app, it's a open source project which many would consider a hack... so yeah, it's not a drag and drop install anymore.
SIP can be disabled: https://www.macbartender.com/system-item-setup/
And some tech-youtubers like MKBHD have been recently praising Final Cut and are using it now. I don't know anything about editing videos though, so...
Everyone here should invest in Bartender..
But here's mine
Another thing I do and suggest is instead of having all these apps set to open on log in, which slows down everything, I just up and Automator workflow as an app to launch them once I'm logged in and ready to go. So I just launch a single app and they all open up.
