"Get instant access and start playing over 8-12 hours of single player campaign and multiplayer deathmatch. Xen is not part of the Early Access release, but will be included as a free update when ready."
There's a reamke with updated graphics for half life 1, but they haven't finished the whole story yet, when they are done I might give a shot. Seems like they are almost done with the final chapter.
The good people at Crowbar Collective could always make their own mod with this story line. . . but then again, I'm still waiting for the Xen chapters to be released.
I thought it was built on top of the Source engine which is maintained and updated by Valve, hence the original name and URL Black Mesa Source. Do you mean they're updating it for a newer version of the Source engine?
I think a lot of the original team leveraged their work on Black Mesa into full time jobs with other companies, and hence left the project.
There's an officially sanctioned remake in the works that uses the same Source engine as HL2. Last I heard they had everything done except for Xen, which is the finale of the game.
If you want the Crowbar Collective to see this, I suggest posting this on the Black Mesa Forums or messaging on twitter. If you really want to share your ideas with them you can't just expect them to see this post.
If the graphics turn you off, may I recommend Black Mesa?
These developers remade the original HL in Source Engine (EP2 version). If you don't like to pay consider the mod which essentially has more than half the game.
> I didn't even know Black Mesa existed.
Well, then I'd suggest you should give it a try, it's really amazing :)
> Besides, I already own HL: Source so I'm going to save the money.
The legacy release is free, only the version on Steam (that will get the Xen levels) isn't: https://www.blackmesasource.com/#download
Theres a Valve endorsed (but independently made) remake of the first game called Black Mesa which has most of the original Half Life in a more modern engine, Xen is still unfinished and they trimmed out of some of the flow breaking parts of 2 of the levels but its still worth playing. There used to be a free version of it in an older version of the source engine but I can't seem to find it.
I haven't. They're selling the finished version for like $20 on Steam and I didn't want to buy it. I know the original mod is on their website though, so I might check that out.
Hi!
I wish I could play Half Life (the original) again for the first time. It was the game that showed me how a first person shooter could be not just an action frenzy, but a slowly unfolding story, with the tension and mystery of a good suspense film. I'm glad that the remake exists, but unfortunately, I already know the spoilers, so it will never be like it was the first time.
My favorite animal is the ocelot. Rawr!
No worries, but if you've heard of Black Mesa (the fan-run Source remake of the original Half-Life), then it shouldn't be surprising that Project Borealis (a fan-made rendition of what HL2:E3 would have been) is a thing.
If you decide on actually doing that, it might be worth it for you to check out Black Mesa Source. It's a fan-made remaster of the original Half-Life - the only catch is it's not (to the best of my knowledge) complete yet.
Well, there's quite a difference between the original game and Black Mesa.
Postoji i "moderna" verzija (bolja grafika) Half Life-a 1, zove se: Black Mesa. Nisam igrao, ali prijatelj koji je isto veliki fan HL franšize kaže da je odlična.
