Dude, if you haven't played Bloons Tower Defense 4 yet, get ready to lose about a week of your life.
EDIT: Holy shit Bloons TD 5 is out! I'll see you dudes in a month or so.
Bloons Tower Defense 5 is the best tower defense game i'v ever played. There's over 30 levels/maps to play on, over 25 different towers, all of which are useful. I don't think there is a better tower defense game out there.
It's mostly In-Browser and on Mobile but Bloons TD 5 is my favorite TD game. Used to play it at work all the time. Set up towers and watch them fight. Only action during the level is placing an emergency spike trap if your towers fail to pop all the Bloons, but I rarely use them. Can unlock tons of new towers, maps and upgrades.
I'd love to hear other suggestions if anyone knows of any TD games like that!
Bloons TD Battles. Involves strategy and you get to play BTD against somebody. Buy towers and send balloons to gain economic advantage and to beat out your opponent. http://ninjakiwi.com/Games/Tower-Defense/Play/Bloons-TD-Battles.html
Buying game time with gold is against the TOS, so I can't think of any way to get game time without exchanging cash money.
Level 1-20 is free to play with no time limit, I think, so you can play that forever if you want to.

I wouldn't. I played the free flash version for a while and wouldn't consider having it on my steam list. It wouldn't be bad, I suppose, but it just seems odd to me to pay steam prices for something I had for free for a while.
I'd consider it for $1 though.
I spent way too much time playing Bloons Tower Defense, which, thanks to you posting this, I now know has released a 5th version. There goes my productivity for the day...
Bloon Tower Defense 5 (and if you want to waste even more time you can start with the earlier and somewhat simpler Blloon variants).
If you haven't been back in a while they added a couple of new tracks just before Christmas.
Best Game Ever. Its a tower defense game, but your towers are monkeys that shoot darts at balloons. Sounds boring, but its so much fun and a great time waster and distraction.
Also, reading is fun. Watching a TV season is fun. Especially if you can download or own any on DVD, then you can have a mini marathon! If you don't want junk food then pick up some healthy snacks. Grapes are great because you can eat them like eating popcorn and they're delicious.
EDIT: And I know its lame, but as for cheering up...this always does it for me. Seriously. I will watch it like ten times before I get bored. But I'm weird like that lol.
This one usually does the job, too.
Skyrim... however, I stopped when I started playing Eve. Sometimes I'll play Bloons TD5 or Cat With Bow Golf.
The Tower Defense games are referred to as "Bloons TD" now. "Bloons" was the original balloon-popping game upon which the TD games are based (and from what I gather, "Tower Defense" is a protected name now, so they had to go with "TD").
Bloons TD 4 Expansion came out last year.
Bloons TD 4 Just got an upgrade, including two new tracks (and a Fast-Forward method similar to the Expansion's).
TD 5 is due out at the end of 2011.
I have wasted countless hours on all versions.

Build various monkeys(towers) to kill all the balloons(bloons/creeps) before they reach the end of the maze. That is tower defense.
And, I am sorry to anyone who clicks that link. Game is addicting.
I know some fun web games.
"N" is a basic platformer that starts off easy, but gets pretty hard quickly. It has a total of 500 levels + community created ones. Jump with Z (can be changed).
"Bloons Tower Defense 5" is, without a doubt, the best Tower Defense game I have ever played. 'Nuff said.
"Quadradius" is "3D Space Checkers on Crack", according to the website. You start off with 12 (I think) pieces of your own (if you play with a standard board), and your opponent gets 12. All the pieces are the same, and can only move one step at a time, but not diagonally. Over the course of the game, "Orbs" pop up. These can be power-ups (for example, getting a piece to move diagonally), weapons (for example, destroying a whole row of pieces) or "Field Modifiers" (non-official name) (for example, raise the tile you're standing on). Destroy other pieces by jumping on them. ^(I'm sorry if I'm not explaining it good enough, the tutorial on the site does a much better job at explaining than I do.)
These are some of my favorite web games, and I'll think you'll enjoy them too :)
If you have friends in the same building, Tiny Tanks: http://www.multiplayer.gg/
If not, Bloons Tower Defense 4: http://ninjakiwi.com/Games/Tower-Defense/Play/Bloons-Tower-Defense-4.html#.VTsgafCYHag
I didn't know they put it on steam. If it looks and feel the same way as http://ninjakiwi.com/Games/Tower-Defense/Play/Bloons-Tower-Defense-5.html, you might get better performance for free on the Android version.
Here's a reply i had to a post someone made yesterday:
Bloons Monkey City is a game i've been playing lately: http://ninjakiwi.com/Games/Tower-Defense/Play/Bloons-Monkey-City.html[1] Basically a mix between an Idle/Social/Tower Defense game. Giving the player an overworld 'city' to build/research tower, and conquering new lands through TD maps. Maybe a little more like a social game, than an idle game. But logging in every couple hours to get money requires minimal investment. Not giving the player all the towers/upgrades at the beginning helps the learning curve, and lets the player create they're own 'tower team' as well as giving them a map selection. I don't like tower defense games with pathing as much, as they are difficult to balance and easily exploited (most of them have one 'dominant' strategy or path design)

This is my personal choice for a time waster. It has a few hundred maps, PVP (with bloons of course), and it's easy to get addicted to. One thing, start with Ninja's ASAP. They happen to be one of the best classes in the game.
Bloons tower defense 5 on the app store on android or apple is a good game. easily played with one hand and the other hand can either watch the left hand work or hold the tablet. There is even a pc version here: http://ninjakiwi.com/Games/Tower-Defense/Bloons-Tower-Defense-5.html
It might seem childish but this game is very fun.
Flash games currently.
Bloons D #4 is great: http://ninjakiwi.com/Games/Tower-Defense/Play/Bloons-Tower-Defense-4.html#.Uq_NwtJDt5w
Bug slayer: http://www.kongregate.com/games/Awoke/bug-slayer
etc.
And if you want to waste even more time you can start with the earlier versions but they're of course a bit less complex.
I used to love playing Bloons Tower Defense 5 but don't play it much anymore. I play SimCity Social on Facebook all the time now, and I'm really enjoying it. :)
I took a class one time about the meanings behind video games, and we had to critique each others' writing assignments. I ended up reading this girl's review of the flash game Bloons Tower Defense, and her thesis was basically that the monkeys symbolized "gorilla" warfare.
I go to a pretty prestigious university, and she was a senior. If she's really one of the brightest and the best, I don't want to live on this planet anymore.
Have you tried Bloons and Bloons Tower Defense? There are a lot of sequels of them also.
One that seems to fit the bill (insofar as I can understand what the bill is) is Bloons Tower Defense 4. Normally I hate TD games but not this one.
