> I shouldn't have to change permissions from every file manually, there should be a simple way to give myself full access.
There is and it's called running as TrustedInstaller. Use this to launch a third party file explorer such as Explorer++ or even 7-Zip with TrustedInstaller permissions and this will bypass all NTFS permissions. However the WindowsApps folder is protected for a reason and you shouldn't be manually messing with the files located there.
You need to be very careful deleting anything related to the Windows Store. The UWP system is permission sensitive and can easily break. Windows is supposed to remove it. If that didn't happen, the install was effectively broken to begin with. Windows Explorer, even in admin, can modify permissions even when you don't intend to. Instead you should use Explorer++. This utility, when ran as admin, bypasses Explorer completely thus permissions are ignored for the most part (SYSTEM owned and locked can't be touched.) allowing you to delete or see what you need to. Just in case. It's a safety net for anyone.
>I get the same error OSxAptioFixDrv error
What's the error that you get?
>There's apparently a way to make the partition readable via a Windows 10 partition
Yep! You should be able to mount your EFI partition via Disk Management in Windows, and then you can use a program like Explorer++ to get access to it (since the regular Explorer is blocked from it).
>which is why I've turned to you fine folk.
Awww you! We'll get you squared away, bud :)
I used Clover for a year or so, but I've just uninstalled it because it was very prone to crashing (Win7) and I grew tired of it restarting (and restoring duplicates of all tabs when it did so).
Now I'm using Explorer++ and wish I'd switched a long time ago. It too has tabs, but it's more powerful, more stable, less buggy, and I particularly love the fact that it's a compact layout - no needless white space here.
I think the part is the confusion on your request. I have read the original post as you wanting an explorer tool now you are stating you want comparison tools. While it is not apples and oranges it is still apples and pears.
There are numerous other ways but your request of exactly what you want is not clear. Maybe it is the personal commentary getting intermingled with your explanations causing the frustration. Overall it is great you can deploy these things to all your servers but that is just not a typical good practice because if you become hyper-dependant on these tools to do your job you get hamstrung skill-wise if you move to an environment that restricts your ability to install any of these tools on servers. I think that is the point people were trying to make in an ineffective manner.
That being said check out Explorer++ or learn about FileCompare
You forgot to mention these...

Hope this makes 10 easier to use.:)
For backing up, you can use the bootable flash drive and explorer++ 64 bit.
Simply copy the executable to your windows flash drive and boot from it.
You will get to the windows setup screen, then click next, then repair my computer.
Click advanced options then find command prompt.
Find your USB then switch to it (this involves typing A: then dir, B: then dir and so forth to identify your flash drive.)
Assuming you put the Explorer++ exe in the root, you can type "exp" then press tab.
You should then be in explorer++ where you can access your files to copy to another USB device.
Hm, they were working on it but It seems to be cancelled .. it was available in previews during 2018 even but disappeared in 2019 again :(
So third party software it is. https://explorerplusplus.com/ for instance.
It only crashes when trying to open that specific drive? Before we start thinking of any hardware issues, we should try to use an alternative to file explorer. It might be just that file explorer is just acting up. You can search for an alternative yourself, I can recommend "Explorer++" since its free and if I remember correctly, open source as well.
https://explorerplusplus.com/ is their webpage. The download itself is tiny, and should just be a zip file with the executable and a couple text files inside, you don't need to install anything, it will work if you just run the .exe file itself.

If you can open the disk with the other program, then you might want to try using the recovery tools included with windows. If not, then we will want to look elsewhere for the issue.
Explorer can't easily be ran with admin or TI permissions (even if you try launching it with higher permissions it still launches as a regular user), however you could try running Explorer++ with TI permissions instead: https://explorerplusplus.com/
Personally I use Double Commander but if all you need is Explorer with tabs then you might want to check out Explorer++ (https://explorerplusplus.com).
It's a one-file application that nicely integrates with Windows.
The difference between UEFI SSD1 and SSD1 is the later attempts to boot the drive as Legacy.
Have you tried selecting "Clover start boot.efi preboot"?
Check with your computer manufacturer about how to hard reset CMOS. On my HP laptops, it requires pressing the power button for 10 seconds with power disconnected. That should clear NVRam, putting things back to normal.
Another thing you might try is to mount your EFI partition in Windows by launching CMD with Administrative privelidges and entering:
mountvol X: /s
Edit it with Explorer++ to rename /EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi
Then reboot. Once you're into Clover, you can use the Clover Tool to Load Clover Boot data to NVRam. Name bootmgfw.efi back after getting into Mac OS.
Launch a third party file explorer like Explorer++ with Trusted Installer permissions. This should bypass all file permissions. Do be careful though since you could break something by copying files into places you're not supposed to mess with.
Fair, seems like a good challenge.
I assume the ping buttions would open a new window, but how do you get pass the user account to explorer to open C$ with privileged account? I am currently using explorer++ as this can be ran as another user.
For future reference instead of changing file permissions that is hard to properly reverse you can simply elevate yourself to TrustedInstaller permissions and then edit the files. You can use ExecTI or nsudo to run a third party explorer like Explorer++or even 7-Zip with TI rights and then edit whatever you want.
Sorry this might be late but it could be useful for someone in future. So first you need Explorer++ and Mini Disk Partition Tool (google). Then assign a letter to the EFI partition on the Mac drive you want to use, click Apply. You can use the Windows Partition Manager but I prefer MiniTool because you can easily undo operations so better to be safe. Right Click Explorer++ , you MUST run it as admin, and you'll be able to access the EFI partition as usual and copy stuff. You have to do all the copying within the program and not Windows explorer.
Use Psexec to launch a Command window as the local system account (psexec -i -s cmd.exe) then from that prompt launch Exporer++ and you can browse around without breaking the permissions.
I don’t remember this part very well, but, you need to mount the EFI partition
and when I was doing it, I couldn’t rename that file, so I had to use this to open the EFI partition and rename the file.
You can try https://explorerplusplus.com/ or http://www.eonet.ne.jp/~gakana/tablacus/explorer_en.html
These are portable Explorer replacements, just select to open zip file in browser (don't save to disk if you cant get to download location) or save to desktop.
Anything by sysinternals is very good. While they are mainly admin tools, programs like autoruns are extremely useful for everybody. I know you already have Process Explorer, but many of the other tools are simply amazing
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-au/sysinternals/bb545027
If clover doesnt do it for you, Explorer++ does a decent job of a tabbed file browser too
EDIT: Read the list and missed clementine. Whoops
