WinDirStat, it's a graphical representation of the contents on your harddrive, highly recommended if you're looking to free up some space
Also Everything, it's a program that instantly finds files on your computer, it's much quicker than the built in windows one since it indexes shit. It's very quick and light weight
> You can use everything.
You should at least capitalise that if you're not going to link, otherwise it's just confusing to someone who doesn't already know what it is.
https://www.voidtools.com/downloads/
Arguably it wasn't the best choice of name, but it did provide me with this amusing screenshot:
Everything by VoidTools. Very fast file search which builds an index for searching and is nearly instant. Can remember removable disks and search for files on them when they are off line.
On a side note: After installing, you can compress the game from 74GB back to 21.3GB using CompactGUI. The game can still be played normally with no performance loss.
> Apple does not have a good record of resisting such pressure in China, for example, having moved Chinese citizens’ data to Chinese government servers. Even some democracies criminalize broad categories of hate speech and blasphemy. Would Apple be able to resist the demands of legitimately elected governments to use this technology to help enforce those laws?
This right here and PRISM is why I've always kept one eye open with Apple. I think there comes a certain point when they will or have to give in somehow. Possibly be given a gag order to not tell the public about something either.
Over the past couple years I've been leaning more towards open source software and now I am even more. I got onto FF a few years ago and don't have any reason to switch. I looked into and started using cryptee. I'm willing to give up convenience for privacy and personal security. I'm rethinking what software and apps I use and working on replacing them.
For a second I started to actually think that Apple really was for the user. What goes on in China and the latest developments show that they really are not.
Here's a list of games with results from compression
Not every game gets compressed very well, but some of the results are almost mind boggling.
Note that if a game/file is updated it gets decompressed, so you'll have to rerun the tool after a major update to your game.
Just added this to the Wiki:
It's compression, so extra CPU power is required to decompress the program files as they're needed, however the XPRESS algorithm is highly efficient and designed for minimal CPU overhead. Any reasonable CPU will have minimal to no performance impact, and those using slower HDDs may even see a performance improvement as the smaller files can be transferred to the CPU much faster for processing. See the Microsoft doc here
I have accepted that it just doesnt work, I installed "everything" it gives you literally everything and is amazingly quick.
It's the first thing I install in a fresh windows installtion, I don't even touch that search bar.
The Windows 10 OS has a compact file function. You can download the UI for the function using this link: https://github.com/ImminentFate/CompactGUI

The game will still be functional, and shouldn't have any performance changes. Cut my ARK file by about 40%.
Check out https://www.multcloud.com it's good for switching between cloud services. Just copy and paste all your files, and they're all copied over the cloud so it doesn't use any of your bandwidth.
And the first 10TB of files is free.
Shoutout to Search Everything, an alternative to Windows Search. Only 1000x better. Searching for a translated version of a Windows app won't give you any results though. In order to find 'Kladblok' with Search Everything I have to search for Notepad but I guess that sort of makes sense.
To use this, download Veency and Apple File Conduit "2" from BigBoss. Then go to the settings pane of Veency and set a password (optional, if you don't set one it will always ask you via a popup if you trust the connecting pc).
On your pc, install iFunBox and a vnc viewer (I use TightVNC) and connect your device via usb.
In iFunBox, go to the toolbox tab and choose USB Tunnel. It will show you an internal ip of your iDevice and a port for vnc.
Open up your vnc viewer and connect to said ip with the given port. If everything worked it will ask you for your password you set after installing Veency or show an alert on your iDevice. Type in your password or give permission and you shoud be able to see and interact with everything on your iDevice.
I hope I could help!
I love mlocate in Linux. try Everything for Windows. Yeah, you could poke around in the word processor's settings and find the default save directory, but the tools I mentioned are great for finding stuff fast.
"Everything" is one of the first things I install. Builds an index using the NTFS file-system, effortlessly keeps the index updated (can index NAS as well), and then presents results instantly as you type. Wouldn't know what to do without it.
I have ownCloud setup on mine. There a few neat add-ons you can install on it as well, so in addition to using it for file storage (Dropbox Clone) I also use ownCloud News (Feedly Clone). You can also add a calendar, task lists, contacts, documents & notes.
There are many alternatives, Launchy is a good one but I will insert my two cents.
For blazing fast file searches go for Everything Search.Everything Search. You'll love it. I don't know why Windows' file search still sucks after all these years.
As for a launcher, try WoxWox. It has a variety of plugins and is themable. Although I would recommend you downloading a fresh build instead of the latest release. 183 is still buggy with Windows 10 (I contrib on github to it, and yes we need to make a new one like yesterday). There is a getting started guide there too so you don't feel overwhelmed.
Here's exactly what I do. You will need WiiBackupManager
I'll go throught the steps: (First format your usb thumb drive to "fat 32" insert it anytime after you download the game but before you open wii back up manager)
1. Download the game (I download mine to my download folder)
2. On your C: drive create a file "wbfs"
3. Put the game in the wbfs file on your C: drive
4. Open Wii Back up manager
5. Once it's open you will see some tabs: file, dvd, drive 1, drive 2, etc...
6. Click on drive 1, below where you clicked you will see a drop down tab that says 'inactive' change that tab to C: (your games from your wbfs folder should show up.
7. Drive 2 click the 'inactive' drop menu to whatever drive your usb thumb drive is, mine is E: yours could be different
8. Go back to drive 1 and you should see your games click on the boxes next to the game name you want to 'transfer', once you click transfer it will give you the option to pick drive 2 (your usb thumb drive)
9. Just wait while it transfers (depends on how big the file is but about 3-5 minutes per game)
10. Put your usb thumb drive in the back of the Wii, boot up home brew channel and you should be good to go.
I find it easier to follow along with youtube directions vs reading so if you just youtube wiibackup manager all the steps will be there to show you how to do it. It's really easy once you do it once.
EDIT: I also use Wii Flow for my loader on homebrew vs UBS Loader GX don't know if it makes a difference but Wii Flow works great for me.
Or you could just install the free and open source 7-Zip which supports a smorgasbord of formats:
> Supported formats:
>
> Packing / unpacking: 7z, XZ, BZIP2, GZIP, TAR, ZIP and WIM
>
> Unpacking only: AR, ARJ, CAB, CHM, CPIO, CramFS, DMG, EXT, FAT, GPT, HFS, IHEX, ISO, LZH, LZMA, MBR, MSI, NSIS, NTFS, QCOW2, RAR, RPM, SquashFS, UDF, UEFI, VDI, VHD, VMDK, WIM, XAR and Z
WinRAR offers features 7zip does not, like profiles for different compression settings, recovery records in case of corruption, and the ability to delete archives automatically after restoring, to name a few. For the average user 7zip is fine, though. WinRAR does still have a place for some.
By the way, there's a security vulnerability that allows arbritrary code execution in 7zip that was found last week. If you use it and haven't updated it recently I would highly recommend you update it now.
Go to https://www.voidtools.com/ , download and install "everything". Never look back.
It is lightweight and incredible fast, it finds every file on your PC everywhere.
I never got why the win10 search sucks so much. I mean, google is able to search the whole world internet for anything in milliseconds. The Win10 search does not even properly find files or apps that are installed on a single harddrive in my system.
> And don't get me started on the shoddy QA they do with Windows 10's search function... (Can't even find a application thats pinned to the damn start menu)
Everything Search picks up the slack.
For those who are having trouble getting a link to the profile, there is a very easy solution: Download and install iFunbox to your computer, plug in your device and make sure that it is unlocked, go to the "My Device" Tab and click on Stop OTA, your phone should automatically go to the install profile page. Hit install, done. Hope this helps.
Good meme
In Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, etc) go to File > Options > Save
and see where the autosave location is set to (it should also have a button to open the folder)
For everything else, install Search Everything (it has a portable version, if you're on a school computer) and just search for "autosave" or similar.
You're welcome :)
If you have a look at Disk 3, you'll see it's absolutely pegged. I'm not sure if you read my bit about performance, but basically your CPU is blitzing along much faster than your drive can give it information, resulting in low CPU usage. If you were to try compressing on an SSD, the CPU would be a lot more hard hit :)
Also, when you've finished compressing, would you mind sending me a screenshot of the final compression, or opening an Issue on GitHub and posting the details? I want to add it to the wiki list even if the compression isn't great so other can see if it's worth compressing their games :)
I meticulously sort my data into different folder systems so that I know exactly where ever file should be located.
But if you want to be able to search all your data, I would recommend Everything. It indexes all your files, making them instantly searchable, and the even have guides for setting Everything up with a network drive.
FDM is a program that you can use to queue and schedule downloads. It supports both regular HTTP/FTP downloads and torrents. Everybody only uses it for regular downloads though and uses a dedicated torrent client for torrents.
Uwah, 12h straight programming. I need sleep.
I'll read your comments and answer your questions tomorrow.
DDMK 0.1 pre-alpha
Installation
Navigate to your DMC HDC root directory -> data -> dmc3.
Typically this is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Devil May Cry HD Collection\data\dmc3.
Open dmc3-0.nbz with 7-Zip.
Open GData.afs and type pl000.
Now hightlight all pl000_00_X.pac files, ranging from 0 to including 31.
So 32 files total.
Now go to your Desktop, create a new directory and name it MOT.
Back to 7-Zip.
On the toolbar click on Extract and in the newly opened window select the MOT directory you just created and click on OK.
Move or copy the MOT folder to your DMC HDC root directory.
Now download this archive and extract its contents to your DMC HDC root directory.
Start the game, once ingame you can open the menu with CTRL + D.
The rest should be pretty clear.
to install:
Then Everything to find files.
I think you should install this tiny program called Everything. Basically, It's a search engine that locates files and folders by filename instantly for Windows. Unlike Windows search "Everything" initially displays every file and folder on your computer.
It's the same one: https://www.voidtools.com/
It definitely does do contents searching: >Yes, "Everything" can search file content with the content: search function. File content is not indexed, searching content is slow.
ok. how about taking a step back for a bit. look at what Everything is doing. how they do it. Buy it if you must!. Compare it to what you are doing. Is there anything you can make better/more effective/more efficient with what you learned? can you integrate some of their features into Windows search/Cortana?
I know you have a good eye for good software. for instance, you realized Swiftkey was doing all the right things and you bought it and integrated into Windows, now would be a good time to send David a check and integrate that as well.
I never liked Windows file search, I use Everything (look at the faq for full info). I know this does not fix the problem in Windows but wanted to share something that works for me and might be a solution for you.
What? You can always just encrypt everything going you put in the cloud, there is some software specifically dedicated to encrypting files for specific cloud services.
If you don't want that, there's always spideroak
And if you think that's not enough there's always owncloud so you can manage your own cloud storage on your own server using open source software.
If it were me, I'd search my drive to see if I accidentally moved the folder.
If you run Windows, an invaluable tools that I use daily for finding files is Search Everything. In seconds it catalogs every file on your system, and lets you search for specific filenames.
Here is a screenshot of a search for "2018 .png". The space causes the display of all files with "2018" in the name, with the extension .png. (Picture)
Best of luck in your search.
Depending on which type of reset, a Windows reset can include a backup of user files. Before losing hope, load a comprehensive search tool and look for "level.dat". I suggest Search Everything.
Best of luck.
Wox and Everything. Install both, set up a key combination to open Wox, and you can search for everything in real time, no lag. Will even find those files you forgot you had from a year ago.
Keeping movies or pornagraphic content online with large/consumer hosting services can be hit or miss. I've seen posts about Amazon removing and banning people from its cloud services even with encrypted uploads.
Have you thought about setting up ownCloud?
I use bittitan migrationwiz quite some times. It really isn't that hard.
Also, MS is coming with a native mailbox migration tenant-to-tenant solution. For data you have mover.io (aquired by MS).
You only have 7 mailboxes, so what you did was fine (but far, far, far from ideal), but for bigger migrations, mover.io and bittitan work really well. It saves you a lot of time and headaches (you'll still get a few, though, but that's just MS you know.. :D)
Everything Search: https://www.voidtools.com/
It's a Windows program that indexes all your files across all drives in real time (runs as a service, or just in the background), and lets you search for folder/filenames instantly. By default when you open the search window, it lists every single file and folder on your computer, then filters down as you type each letter. So much smoother/faster to use than searching complete terms (and hitting enter) multiple times by trial and error when you're not sure of the exact name of something.
The nice thing about this project is that you can just build the GUI part. Shouldn't be a great deal of work, so well suited to a hackathon.
Instead of building the filesystem indexer/database yourself, you can just utilize an index database from another program, like /var/lib/mlocate/mlocate.db (not real time), or maybe even rlocate (real time).
For me the real time indexing aspect isn't so important, more the filter-as-type aspect, and a nice simple & efficient GUI where you can right-click on results and quickly do stuff like:
And of course like with a file manager, you can sort columns on: folder name, filename, modtime etc.
It's here, and it's free. Enjoy!
I guess that's the unfortunate thing with calling your app "Everything", it makes it tricky to Google for it! For future reference, I found it by Googling "everything search".
You can use CompatGUI after you install the game, it will reduce the size to about 70~ gbs with all the DLCs i guess. And yes, the game will run just as fine, even better tbh, it improves loading times and helps with the stutter for me at least.
OwnCloud. https://owncloud.org/
Open source, and you run it on your own hardware.
If you have to use dropbox.com or box.com for anything --- only put encrypted files (zip, gpg'd tar files, whatever) up there, and send the passwords through some different channel.
You can use 7zip or ResourceHacker to open ZuneShellResources.dll
in the Zune install directory. The specific image in your screenshot is named DEFAULTDEVICE.LARGE.DEFAULT.png
.
Boot into safemode, navigate to %windir%\System32\drivers
and delete the ESEA driver(s) manually from there. After that also empty your temp folder by navigating to %temp%
, pressing ctrl+a (to select everything) and then shift+del (to permanently delete everything bypassing the recycle bin).
Restart your PC and run driverquery | findstr ESEA*
again, it shouldn't find anything now. I also suggest downloading Everything and searching for "ESEA" with it. Great program for other uses too since unlike Windows Search it actually finds every single file on your PC and does so instantly.
Camera360 tweeted earlier this year about this problem: https://twitter.com/camera360/status/534174314744905728
And did you have 'sync to camera roll' turned on in Camera360? How much disk space does Camera360 take up (Settings -> General -> Usage -> Manage Storage)?
Edit: They want you to use a file browser (http://www.i-funbox.com/) to see if the photos are in the Camera360 -> Documents -> Darkbox folder.
Happened to me a few weeks ago after installing some kind of Wallpaper Pack from some shitty source, and it made WhatsApp crash over and over.
Anyway, I deleted this "unflod" manually, with iFunbox (for PC).
Download the software, connect your iPhone and go to this folder:
From there, delete the "unflod" file.
And that's it.
Tell me if it helped. Goodluck.
Try using "Wii Backup Manager (build 78)" to convert the iso into two wbfs files with the correct folder and file names. Then copy into the wbfs folder on your FAT32 drive. http://www.wiibackupmanager.co.uk/downloads.html
(The app will split the large iso file into a primary wbfs file with a second wbf1 file.)
Yup, all Google Apps for Education ones are unlimited to my knowledge.
If you have large files on another Google Drive you want to transfer, you can also use Mover.io and then, after moving them, share those files with your regular account. It's what I do to make all those photos appear on my computer synced with regular Google Drive while still using the education one for its storage capacity.
I think Multcloud (no "i") can sync it to another cloud storage site. Even if Google did take down user content, I doubt they'll bother trying to take down all copies of it across the web even if they somehow had the power to.
He means having a server at home (his selfhosted "cloud") that runs their storage, email, calendar etc., accessible from his laptop and mobile devices anywhere.
Things like ownCloud.
Bro stop paying: https://owncloud.org/
Other than the app. You gotta buy the mobile app for a buck.
Edit: "playing". I can't read. Hah! Whatever this is out there for everyone that has tech skills (and you probably do if you're in this sub)
https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Injustice_2
The Steam version saves in the Steam folder so you'd have to find where the MS Store version saves (doesn't mention it on that page) and move it over.
Doesn't look like it uses cloud saves so it should be in the same format as Steam. It'll probably be saved in the %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\ or maybe WpSystem - easiest way to find it is with Everything.
Even then there's no guarantee - unless someone answers that's already done it.
A while ago I found an app called Everything that works really well - the search is pretty much instant and can find anything, is really customizable and works full-text. Highly recommended, haven't used Windows search since (as I wasn't really able to find any files on my 3 disks without waiting a year or two)
^^also ^^paging ^^/u/vikramdinesh ^^in ^^this ^^reply
There's a really nice one. Download Everything https://www.voidtools.com/ and find literally any file super fast, better and faster than Windows search even. It's even faster than if you let windows preload all file names, it can preload terabytes of files names very fast somehow.
I understand how getting into something new can be a bit of a daunting task. So with that said, I will walk you through it from start to finish. Whether you do it or not is up to you. 1. Download/Install something like BitTorrent or uTorrent. Bittorrent.com or utorrent.com 2.Click this link. It will download a file that ends with .torrent. https://itorrents.org/torrent/B4531B9C5337B0B078CE8D8EEC3F8E83B2AEA583.torrent 3. When file is downloaded, open with choice torrent client. Torrent will start downloading to your computer. 4. While file is downloading, install 7zip. It allows you to decompress the torrent file you are downloading. https://www.7-zip.org/ Chances are you are on a 64bit version of Windows so make sure you download the appropriate exe. 5. When torrent is done downloading, go to where ever you chose as your download location. May need to change from a default location. Right click on the file (should end in .bz2), in the context menu hover over 7zip, select extract here. It will decompress and you should be able to view the file after.
Owncloud checks for conflicting versions and keeps both files so you can resolve the conflict manually. My Owncloud server has been running on a Raspberry Pi for ~2 years now and all in all I'm pretty happy with it.
CompactGUI can also bring down sizes considerably, varying per game, with minimal performance impact. For example, Payday 2 compresses to 30GB from 53GB.
All it takes is a few mouse clicks (and Windows 10).
You don't really have to use iTunes. Any music purchased from iTunes can be downloaded on the device as can apps. You can use http://www.i-funbox.com or dropbox for most other things. I have not used iTunes on my iPad for years now.
Hey, I'll just tell you how to do it. Zip files are easy to compressed and it sounds difficult, but you'll get habituated with it.
You can download 7-Zip if you don't already have it. (You'll need it)
1.) Create a folder
2.) Rename it "Animal Crossing Portraits" or whatever you want, your choice.
3.) You'll have to start creating folders inside the folder, so let's start with CharPortraits
I. Drop: Dwight, Meg, Claud, Jake, and Nea inside CharPortraits (Trapper, Wraith, Billy, and Nurse)
II. DLC characters have their own folders; DLC2 is Laurie and Myers. DLC3 is Ace and Hag. etc. Go into DBD game files and recreate the folders for your pack.
4.) Make sure that the image files are .PNG and not .JPG and the Dimensions are 350x350. If they are, skip this step.
5.) Assuming you've installed 7-Zip you're ready to compress your pack. Right click on it, Scroll down to Send to, and click on Compressed (zipped) folder.
(Right Click on pack > Send to > Compressed zipped folder)
- 7-Zip is a tool that allows you to open zip files and it's very efficient.
6.) You're going to need a file sharing site. Luckily, Google Drive exists, it's free, and it works well for beginners.

7.) Upload the Zip folder on Google Drive and mark it as Other people can view.
8.) Copy and paste the link into the subreddit and I think you're good to go.
I looked into cloud based storage some time ago, and decided that not even SpiderOak is good. It's not open source, so we can't trust it.
First prize would be a self hosted cloud service like ownCloud.
If that is too much effort or technical know how for you, then I'd recommend mega.co.za. This is of course from a privacy point of view. They will keep your data private. From a dependability point of view, maybe not so good, as they might get raided by the FBI or whoever again.
Me, with the latest OS-native, damn-near-worthless, thrash-the-hard-drive, be-all-end-all indexing system that's supposed to solve everything. And then I still end up just installing Everything.
Filesystem, people. It's a system. For your files. Use it.
Don't use WBFS, if you're tempted. It's a horrible solution that breaks more than it fixes.
Format your drive as a single FAT32 partition. Just use Wii Backup Manager to transfer your Wii games to the drive- it automatically splits them into smaller *.wbfs subfiles, which any modern loader will be able to read perfectly.
Also, make sure you're using Nintendont, rather than DIOS-MIOS. You're in for a world of pain if not.
"Everything" works really well on Windows, else it will depend on your file system, overall setup and what amount of data/files/metadata we are talking about.
Here is the link: https://www.voidtools.com/support/everything/
You can use the compression tool built into windows and save about half of the space for ARK with little effect on performance. Idk how the dlc will scale but you can see how the base game will compress in the results sheet.
For the beginner I highly recommend iFunbox! Installing afc2add from Cydia may be needed for it to show "Raw File System" stuff though which we want. It's much friendlier to work with as it shows thumbnails and can parse the application names. My favorite thing about it is how you can make shortcuts to things like App Store Applications, Regular Applications, and Themes, so it's just a drag and drop party.
Also something I just recently found was AppInfo from Cydia. It basically removes the need to do all of the info.plist stuff, but it's somewhat touch and go with icons. Half of the time it will list all of the icons it uses, and a small bit of those will pinpoint which is the legit icon.
Download Everything, it's a search executable which can literally find any file anywhere in your computer within seconds. It is MUCH better than Windows default search. https://www.voidtools.com/
Open it, type "Capcom.sys", right click the only thing that shows up, delete. Done.
Right click Windows icon > Control Panel > Indexing Options
Consider not having the index look for a bunch of file types that you don't care about. If you want to do super fast total system search to look for any file or folder, where wildcards are permitted install Everything.
*Also Note: There seems to be a bug that if you click the windows icon and immediately start typing to access search it will show no results, however if you click the icon on the bottom or top left of your results (Find results in apps) then the items will pop up.
This so much. Everything can search my whole drive in miliseconds, but Windows struggles to find my Photoshop exe, most of the time bringing some text file with the actual program. Fix your shit MS.
Don't get me wrong, I love Windows, but coming from Linux everything is just so sluggish and slow.
I love your work, but could you do everyone a favor and zip up the the 4K versions, then host them on a public Dropbox / Google Drive? Imgur compresses the hell out of image uploads and makes them look bad.
You can use <strong>7-zip</strong> to zip up the files.
<strong>Artstation</strong> is another good option, but 4K uploads are only available to Pro members.
If you have all the dropbox files locally you can just copy those into your OneDrive sync folder.
Edit: I just googled it and found this service, sounds like it will do what you want without any local downloading/uploading.
En cloud løsning virker i min optik smartere i forhold til en fysisk enhed det kan gå i stykker og blive stjålet.
Har man privacy-nykker omkring cloud storage kan jeg varmt anbefale owncloud.org
remember that the USBs adapter and the ethernet adapter have only one shared bus so be careful to attach a lot of USB-drivers: an ethernet driver will be much faster.
And obviously, since the raspberry got only a 100Mb (pls, use the lower letter since it's 'bit' and not 'byte') ethernet port (plus the bus is shared) it's not even comparable to a dedicated pc with a 1Gb adapter: btw you can install owncloud in every pc you want (it's not a dedicated "os" for the raspberry).
You can find more about OwnCloud on the official site
seconded. everything is awesome. i use it all day every day. it's just sooo useful
it can be hard to google for given it's name, so here is a direct link with download options:
There are programs like Ultrasearch and Everything that use NTFS master file table to near instantaneously search through every single file on the drive even with a slow computer.
There is no excuse for windows search being so slow and useless as it is now.
I once had to delete 19 million files from a single directory. Any attempts to list the directory resulted in all the system's memory to be consumed and the system would effectively lock up. It was amazing.
I used voidtools everything (https://www.voidtools.com/) to filter and export a massive CSV list of all the files. Then powershell to parse the CSV and delete the files one at a time. It took a couple days but it damn well worked.
Let me abuse this opportunity to pimp the Search Everything tool
This indispensable app is a gamechanger - it you have logically named your files - you can locate it in a split second.
One of my clients is a 80 yr old woman dealing with 2 decades of word documents, logically named.
With this tool, she can find any document she wants in seconds.
It's the one tool i use constantly at work too.
I turn off the indexing service because it churns away for hours doing god knows what.
On windows 7, if in the little search bar in the corner you type "filename:blah" it will look for files named blah. It really is poorly documented, I hate the windows 7 built in search. Here's more info: http://www.howtogeek.com/73065/learn-the-advanced-search-operators-in-windows-7/
My favorite search tool is Everything
>One last question! When can I see the warranty canary in the future? :)
Already have one right here as a part of the Transparency Report. If we get woken up at 03:00 with a phone call or email regarding any legal situation, we'll post it there as long as the law permits. 😎
I use the tool Everything for that. You can bind it to a key combination and it is great. Sorting an unfiltered view by last modified and watching all writes happen in real time is fascinating.
Everything, www.voidtools.com is highly recommended. It takes a while when you first start it, but after that it's really quick and updates any file or drive changes instantly.
For organization, you can export the file lists from Everything or use VVV (Virtual Volumes View) to create searchable offline database of your drives.
Aber wie die anderen schon schrieben wurde ich dir neben der Lösung empfehlen auf 7-Zip ( https://www.7-zip.org/ ) umzusteigen :) Das kann auch rar entpacken und mehr.
Or... did you ... r/PaidForWinRAR/ ?
Well personally I would recommend to use 7-zip instead of winrar to extract 7-zip files.
Alternatively, if you're using Vortex as your mod manager, you can use Vortex to install SKSE64.
Press the Windows key + L when you leave the room.
If you have a dual-monitor setup, follow this guide to prevent the lock screen from turning off after 1 minute - https://www.howtogeek.com/267893/how-to-change-the-windows-10-lock-screen-timeout/
Use 7-Zip to password protect sensitive folders.
This is basically a much faster, smarter alternative to CompactGUI, written in Rust rather than Visual Basic, and using DeviceIoControl()
syscalls rather than shelling out to compact.exe
.
If you're willing to be a guinea pig and verify it works on machines other than my own, you can find binaries on the releases tab - you want the non-i686 versions unless you're on 32-bit Windows.
While I doubt there's that much risk of data loss, please keep backups and take care of what you compact with it. App and game folders yes, your entire Documents folder, best not.
PSA There is a program on GitHub called Compact GUI. It uses the built in compression algorithms that ship with Windows 10 to reduce file sizes on your disk. An added benefit is since these files are compressed and decompressed in RAM as needed, your load times will improve.

Anything more powerful than a potato should be able to utilize this and benefit from it. If not, it’s easy enough to decompress a file.
use this thing if you are on win10: https://github.com/ImminentFate/CompactGUI
Cut a brand new install by 60GB with zero perceptible change by compressing the filesystem (e.g. removing duplication)
If you're on Windows 10, you can usually shrink the disk space used by a game that's not well-compressed, generally without losing performance (even potentially gaining loading performance if your drive is slow), though you have to manually rerun it when the game gets updates.
It can also unshrink them as well if there actually are performance problems.
My personal results:
Algorithm | Game | Before | After | Savings |
---|---|---|---|---|
XPress16K | RO1 | 5.53 GB | 2.98 GB | 2.55 GB |
XPress16K | RO2/RS1 | 26.9 GB | 14.9 GB | 12 GB |
XPress16K | RS2 | 23 GB | 11.8 GB | 11.2 GB |
CompactGUI just a user interface for built in Windows 10 compression tools and can be used for anything. List of other games compression results here.
>There is a bit of overhead with having to decompress the data, but with recent CPUs this is basically negligible and probably won't ever be tangible unless your program is extremely heavy on the CPU.
>The files are decompressed on the fly so the data is never written to disk. This is why some people actually see loading improvements on HDDs since the CPU can read the compressed files and decompress them faster than loading the original sized file. - /u/japzone
There's an app called iFunbox that lets you browse the file system of an attached iOS device.
You can also do a screen recording from a connected iOS device using QuickTime Player: File -> New Movie Recording, then select your pad from the really small "\/" menu item next to the record button.
The only way to remove a jailbreak is a complete restore to either 8.1.3 or 8.2, neither of which have a jailbreak. Taig doesn't "prevent" updating to a new version of iOS. You can always place the device in DFU mode and update. To fix the Cydia error, connect the phone to a PC or Mac and using iFunbox (http://www.i-funbox.com/) do the following:
You have to install on your jailbroken device this packages: AppSyncUnified (from Karen repo) and Apple File Conduit "2" from Cydia/Telesphoreo.
Then you can install iFunBox on your Mac. There is a big "Install App" button in the toolbar. Choose your ipa and install it.
If the installation fails you may need to crack your own ipa. Let me know.
I had this problem once years ago. You'd think windows search would get better over time.
To find all folders and files instantly just use Everything:
Everything uses metadata in the NTFS Master File Table to create its index.
The search function is terrible even with a SSD. I use a program called Everything. Absolutely no delays when searching an entire drive, it brings results as fast as you type. Try that with the Windows search and you'll be waiting minutes for it to finish.
Or you can use something like Everything and get instant results for any file on your computer.
Windows search, either in 7, 8 or 10 seemed like it never worked consistently, and was always super slow, even with indexing.
I haven't tried classic shell since Windows 8...totally forgot about that. I'll have to put that on my work machine. If someone wants something even smaller, there's another tiny search program called Everything that is super fast for searching in Windows.
Well they're usually marked as such with a (J) or [J] if you have a full set. Look up GoodSets (GoodNES, GoodSNES, etc.). Everything helped me out a lot with organising ROMs because it has a lot of search options and after the initial 30 second index you can search for any file (or files) instantly.
> I don't need my music player to organise my music for me, that's what the fucking file system is for
Why is it that software overall has forgotten this concept. I am an adult. I can use a computer. Filenames are long enough on modern systems. They have been ever since right around the time a home-computer CPU could play MP3s. (Well, barring the 64-character limit on Joliet, but who's burning CD-ROMs any more?) Just play my stuff as I gave it to you.
It's the same with video. Everyone goes gaga over Plex, but I can't stand that it tries its damnedest to infer what my files are instead of just showing me the filename that I set. So it usually just makes an unusable mess of missed guesses. Gimme minidlna (on my NAS) or Serviio (on Windows). I can handle this.
Hell, even file search. I don't need some sluggish, system-choking indexer to let me search the contents of every single file on the system. I either know where stuff is-- on account of I'm an adult who can use a computer, again-- or I name my files in a way that I'll be able to find them again, so a filename-only search will suffice. (If you're ever out Windows way and want a good filename-only search app, Everything can't be beat. It searches NTFS drives by just reading and monitoring the file tables, so it's stupidly fast-- "search-as-you-type across terabytes' worth of drives" fast.)
And don't get me started on OSs without filesystems... lookin' at you, iOS.
Did you extract it? Ok, I'm going to assume you have no idea what to do here, so don't take offense. A rar file is a bunch of other files smashed down in size and stuffed into a single file. It's similar to a zip file, if you're familiar with those. You need a program to extract it. Install 7-zip here:
https://www.7-zip.org/a/7z1900.exe
Once you do you can right-click the rar file you've downloaded and select 7-zip -> Extract
There should be an install file in the newly extracted files that will install whatever it is you're trying to do. Good luck.
A .zip is a compressed folder, you will need to open it and take the .package file out of it then put the .package in your mods folder. A .rar is an archived file and you will need to download a program I recommend 7-zip.
First and foremost, RAID is for availability, not a backup. NEVER trust Raid to "protect" your data. I have seen many RAID arrays fail catastrophically
This is especially true for Photos that are irreplaceable
Secondly while it is possible to do a Raid 6 with 4 drives I would never recommend that.
For a user interface have you looked at owncloud
Edit:
I guess I should ask the following
