/u/ConnerWoods I found a tiered rack I like better, the one on the left, it’s this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WVN2KJH/
It’s slightly taller and easier to assemble (only 3 pieces instead of 8) for only a few dollars more than the previous one (on the right)
Looks identical to my setup. Nice. Just a word of warning though: be careful putting that in your pocket, especially if there's pressure being put on the jack plugging into the Bluetooth adapter. The straight cable can end up having a lot of pressure put on it which could damage the port and cause interruptions and dropped sound. That's what happened to my first one. I got different aux cables that have a 90° angle at the base. Here's the link to the ones I mean: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D1Z6PZL?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I been using this one.

2 would fit perfectly width wise in the cabinet, if they are straight in, and not angled/rotated at all like I have it in the photos. Each little tray/level is a little too deep/thick though, so a zune sits angled back more that I’d like, and they aren’t elevated high enough between the levels. But it’s made for nail polish bottles and was only $12 shipped... it’s this 5-level one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GPJGM1B/ I may buy a few other styles/designs just to try them out. Also FYI that one comes disassembled so it takes like 15-20 minutes to put all the little screws and nuts together
wxMP3Gain is a more recent and updated version of the program mentioned below. It will scan the files on your PC and normalize the volume without having to modify the file.
Get clamps?
I am kidding. I think your cable to the "communications board" is disconnected or broken. Opening the Zune up with the ifixit guide and reconnecting the flat cable could fix the issue. Good luck.
Look into the Dopamine music player. It's very similar to the original Zune software in terms of layout, and it doesn't bog down quite as much in Windows 10. It's one of my main music players.
The thought only just occurred to me, but apparently they do. Gonna try it, but I wanted to see if anybody had experience /w it first. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Z3TRJKS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_5VEJJDFF67F1RRHR4B3J?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Kingspec on amazon
Zplayer - $2.99 - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.odesanmi.and.zplayer
You can also search the web for ZplayerX, which is the free version to try it out. It is not on the market though.
I haven't actually used it much though.
Honestly, instead of trying to work around ancient and unsupported methods of conversion, I'd instead recommend converting using Handbrake and then syncing it. You can convert the file to an mp4 which Zune will read.
I am personally a fan of some fiio products.
They make great mp3 players and you can install Zplayer on Android that still receives updates in 2021.
The key itself is no secret on the Interwebs (I don't think you can buy it anymore) -- just google "microsoft expression encoder key" and you'll find it pretty quickly.
And then for file imports, try LAV Filter : https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/releases . This is what use to import MKV files for re-encoding.
Yes, Zune does not have built-in MIDI synthesis. Usually, you need to convert MIDI file to a WAV file, and then make a MP3 out of this WAV.
You can check SynthFont to save MIDI file to WAV file and for example Audacity to convert it to MP3.
Mediamonkey has the ability to sync with Zunes, I believe. I know it has had it in the past, but it could be outdated.
If your only issue with the software is tagging, then I'll suggest MP3tag. This is probably the most simple, yet powerful tagging software I've used, and it's how I got my music fully organized when I hit about 3,500 songs.
Outside of that, I don't think there are any options. Though if you have any questions, I'll help.
It has no custom firmware yet. Rockbox worked on it, but hasn't released anything.
MP3tag can use freedb, Discogs, and MusicBrainz to get info. I remember it also having Amazon support in the past, too.
That reminds me, MusicBrainz Picard can do it fairly automatically by scanning your actual music file data for matches, but I did find it hard to learn to use at first.
If your worried about the drive failing you could always create an image of the drive using HDD Raw Copy Tool and a ZIF HDD enclosure and even clone it to another zune

I did not have any issues with Zune firmware. The whole process was not difficult. I just followed the prompts on the Zune. It does require you to update the Zune firmware through the Zune software on the PC then it worked just like normal.
I haven’t tried this one, but someone said it works, not sure it fits all Zunes.
I’m sure there are other similar units that plug into Headphone jack.
If you have a base for your Zune to port the audio to your amplifier and want an antenna that are not headphones, I have found this to work well.

I bought this one. It looks good but I DO NOT recommend it. I'm just replying so you don't go for this one.

There's been a couple swings - this launcher, which is inspired by Zune: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.beforesoft.launcher
And a more wholistic attempt from a while back: https://medium.com/@totilaaaaaa/turning-your-android-into-a-zunehd-a-love-story-that-ends-well-e5729d34ffe3
This is the one that I have. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018E0I01I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_FFGBXGGFDN202SKGGRFY It’s gone through 3 different cars with me. I remember having some from mid 2000’s that were statically and bad. You do have to find a FM frequency that is complete static and it’s best if there also isn’t a station right before or after it so there is no bleed through of signal. You can use https://radio-locator.com/ to see all the stations in your area. If there isn’t anything open because you live in Metro area than nothing is going to work. Also with long road trips the same station won’t work as they change. Hope this is helpful.
you cant use the services but you can convert your playlists to mp3/wma. I use soundiiz.com to convert my spotify playlists to youtube playlists then i use minitool utube downloader then put files in zune software
this is what I was worried about. try to download the full 270mb from software package which is posted on the front page on the subreddit and see if it works. disconnect from your network and see what happens.
edit here is link for full zune software package. I hope this fixes your problem.
>Offline Installer
Microsoft is in an unstable position so there's no telling how long Zune will remain downloadable.
Here's the link again. This link is independent from MS but will remain should MS stop hosting their link.

If you choose to do the data recovery yourself, you'd need an adapter such as this one to plug the drive into.

Quick follow-up : I was on DealExtreme web site for something else to purchase, so I just bought this at the same time: http://www.dx.com/p/cf-to-zif-ce-adapter-card-w-flat-cables-419728
It's a different SKU than the other one I have from years back, although the pic looks the same. I figured it was worth 3 bucks and change to mess around with it...should show up in a few weeks, going on past experience.
Just for the record, I have these adapters and I tried them both:
http://www.dx.com/p/cf-flash-memory-to-1-8-ce-zif-hard-disk-adapter-card-with-zif-cable-19675
http://www.dx.com/p/cf-zif-convertor-circuit-board-with-zif-cables-11814
Doesn't mean another adapter may not work of course. :)
My current rig is a Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra paired with a BTR5 because I do prefer the extra power some of my better headsets have.
I have followed the M series of FiiO products for some time before pulling the trigger on the BTR5 and nearly considered purchasing their most premium option before deciding that I'm not that involved yet. Everything I have heard about and seen in reviews is that this is an extremely capable product but in the case of needing something and using bluetooth, this might not be quite the alley you want to head up.
The Zune was always known for it's incredible built in DAC that still holds up well to this day so when it comes to talking about products that follow on Zune's success, this is one of the major things that I say comes into play. Next is the premium feeling of the device. The Zune doesn't feel like a cheaply made device. It's got heft, it's got durability. It doesn't hold up well in comparison to recently produced products but for the time, it was definitely not something to scoff at.

Otherwise, there are plenty of bluetooth capable MP3 players that feature just what you're looking for. Drag and drop, bluetooth and expandable storage. The user interface always leaves something to be desired but they are indeed functional and good enough to see if they meet your needs. Something like this may be all you need.
Sure thing! It's slightly larger than the 1st and 2nd but not enough to be too much of an issue. The benefits outweigh the con of it being slightly larger. Oh and the headphones you use do matter as well. I've noticed on all of them that they don't have the best connection when being blocked even by your own body but having better headphones has seem to have lessened that issue a bit. Oh and connecting them to cheap headphones can be a pain in the ass. I got these headphones though as a gift and they've been extremely quick to connect to the transmitter: https://www.amazon.com/Sony-Wi-Xb400-Wireless-Headphones-WIXB400/dp/B07WNXS613/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=10YCIWE9N5VU7&keywords=sony+wixb400&qid=1637247610&sprefix=sony+wi+x%2Caps%2C366&sr=8-3
Link is dead, but can you indicate the brand? Based on the logo, it appears to be by TaoTronics and I found an active link here.
Just to follow-up on this older post, how has the transmitter held up?
I'll search further, but would like to get the most compact or thinnest transmitter possible. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
A friend sold it to me. Mind you, I live in Germany & under 18 so buying one is definitely not as easy.
I'd go for a refurbished one since you get warranty on it
Get the Zune software The software will import all your iTunes music. I've never bothered to try and jailbreak it. There is a developer community, but it's been pretty clear zune is being pushed into the background in favor of Win Phone, so I don't think it's a very active community.
I use my Zune HD more for audiobooks than music. If you use Audible it's a supported device. If you already have audiobooks, you can use Overdrive to get non-DRM audiobooks onto your Zune
Zune pass is pretty awesome for music at $15 a month. You get (almost) unlimited access to the music catelog, and you get to keep 10 songs per month as non-DRM MP3s.
I really liked Dopamine, at least aesthetically.
Personally though, I moved to iTunes due to having an iPhone, but it’s nowhere near the pleasing experience that Zune Software provided.
I started using soulseek my freshman year of college (2002) and never stopped. Also, I have a massive vinyl collection and love that purchasing new releases gets you a digital download. I swear I DO pay for most of my music but there's plenty of stuff I want to check out without the commitment.
>One more question, how did you do to replace the file? I get an error saying that the file is being used by system 32. I already unlocked the file for the switcheroo, but got stuck on what I mentio
Zune Software need to be terminated and no Zune has to be connected on the compute, if you still have problem try LockHunter and if it didn't help try in Safe Mode.
ive just been looking
or

looks to be the right voltages but im not sure, the videos of ZuneHD disassembly on youtube show 3 wires soldered to the board and not 4 that is on these batteries. Will have to do a buy and find out
Sangean makes some very good radio products. They have a nightstand clock for about $45 and a standard radio for about $60.
Yup:
Tere are a lot more on Amazon if you want to look.
A 1.8 inch Zif HDD is what your looking for I believe. You could even take the opportunity to upgrade to a SSD!

This is the one everyone uses i think
This is what I used: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0887CHVFF
Instructions:
PART I: Prepare the new 512GB micro SDXC flash card.
1. On desktop PC, install minitool partition wizard.
2. Using USB3 micro SDXC card reader and minitool partition wizard. I had to do each of these steps to get my HTC HD7 to recognize the 512GB micro SDXC.
a. Delete all exFAT partitions.
b. convert to GPT (from MBR).
c. format micro SDXC 512GB to NTFS.
d. Delete all partitions again.
e. Convert to MBR.
f. Format to FAT32.
Part II: Prepare HTC HD7
1. Remove back cover but leave battery in.
2. Go to Settings > About
3. Read carefully: Click Reset and confirm --> BUT Before phone reboots remove the battery.
4. Disassemble the HTC HD7 and remove previous micro SDHC card (most likely 8GB or 16GB).
5. Install Samsung 512GB micro SDXC.
6. Re-assemble HTC HD7
7. Power On --> You should be good to go.
Get a 3.5mm Bluetooth Generation v5 Transmitter. I did a search on Amazon and got this Trond one which works with my BT Gen 5 Skull Candy Indy ANC (earpods) and Zune 30GB. I imagine it should be easier to pair with your car than with earpods, which is nuanced.
Well, I never had tnat issue watching videos with any bluetooth headset connected to my phone or tablet (not even with my firestick TV). Never tried the Galaxy Buds but isn't normal. However, if you use a bluetooth transmiter via 3.5mm jack, then, a delay can ocurr.
I tried few transmitter, and the best overall with almos no delay was this one:

Too bulky and that's why I prefer the UGREEN with my Zune. It's just for music anyhow.
It's easy to repair. You can do it for yourself. Here's the SSD I bought.

Google will help you out. Also, read the sticky post in this forum.
I'll send you the one I've been eyeing for the last 2 weeks or so. The only thing better than the reviews is the MP3 Player style buttons. ZIIDOO Visible Bluetooth Transmitter and Receiver. Ngl, I searched around for this particular transmitter. It's the winner and it's sexy and I want one.
I bought these on Amazon and have been very happy with them - just as good as the original.

Selling a Kicker ZK150 Zune stereo/boom box. Works great, comes with remote and cable plug. The turning knob is a little sticky to the touch, I think it's just the rubber. $50 plus shipping.
I was thinking about getting one of the modern mp3 players. They are very expensive but may help with capturing that nostalgic feeling.
One I thought of was this. FiiO M11 Pro Android Hi-Res Lossless MP3 Music Player with Dual AK4497, THX AAA amp, MQA, aptX/atpX HD/LDAC/Bluetooth/DSD/Tidal/Spotify/5G WiFi/4.4 Balance Output, Full Touch Screen https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XPTM5YS/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_-W.bEbE8RDA3D
I would use this app on it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.odesanmi.and.zplayer
Just 600-700 is very hard to swallow for nostagla at my pay grade.
is that this ssd? Thanks. hardly seems worth it for the price, then I have to find someone to load an operating system and updated software.
I would say i see at least 1 a week up for sale, but they arent always labeled as the halo edition. ebay doesn't keep a ton of history but there's 2 that sold recently (not including the one you bought): https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=halo+zune&_sacat=0&rt=nc&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1
there's 2 brown ones for sale on amazon right now, theyre just expensive: https://www.amazon.com/Zune-Halo-Collector-30-Gb/dp/B000S6DJG8
personally i have a couple of each color Halo zune
also you're being really rude.
This post has some pictures of the process: https://www.reddit.com/r/Zune/comments/i0fv0a/zune_30_upgrades_update/
I followed both this and the post above.
The 3" kapton tape made this really easy, but it is a bit overkill with how much you have left over.
Just put this in last night. It's recommend in a lot of guides.
Edit: Here is a good post. Good pictures, information and links on ssd upgrade as well as battery upgrade.
It’s a very specific version I think I bought mine on eBay for around $40 and a 3000mah battery for around $10
Here is a link to amazon.

Music Racer on Android is similar. It has multiple themed tracks she different cars/vehicles use during play. It can use any track you have downloaded on to your phone or can load in stuff from YouTube I believe. It's free too!

Drive is up to you, I don't know of any "bad" ones. Just make sure it's a ZIF SSD. Also, I think 120GB is the highest we've tried. Some people have talked about putting a 250GB in their Zune, but no one has tried it to my knowledge and there was some talk about the file structure not supporting anything higher than 120GB. So I would stick with that size unless you're willing to get experimental (and return it if it doesn't work). A quick google search returned this which I think is what you want.
Incidentally I think /u/Jazzfan80 was going to attempt this but I can't remember if they said whether they went through with it or not, or what the result was. Could be useful for future reference.
Also note: RapidRepair now sells Zune SSD upgrades, but I wouldn't use them if you can. It's a lot more expensive than just doing it yourself, and I know some people have reported issues with them in the past. But know it's an option if you don't want to attempt it yourself.
I just replaced the one in a 4GB I found with this one: Link
Takes a little bit of soldering though and a triwing screwdriver for the internal screws.
This one would work, correct? Thank you!
I'm not exactly sure if mine are the kind he was talking about but the ones in my picture are $25 on Amazon

It's the dongle for Nvidia 3D Vision.
This is the ssd I put into my zune. I had a bit of trouble getting the firmware to stay on it. I had to install the firmware with the hard drive connect but not installed in the zune case and I had to shave the lower blue hard drive bumpers off because this drive fits inside pretty snug without them and pinches the hard drive cable which was giving me grief.

I did it with mine that I got for $50. My old roommate and I put in this HDD with the help of this video.
