Windows 98 SE : don't use Windows 98
Q-Dir : file manager
WinAmp : audio player
IMO Directory Opus is miles ahead of the rest, but it's not free. It is so ridiculously flexible and has so many features/options/layouts, including all the ones you mentioned like syncing. The only one that comes close is XYplorer, again non-free.
EDIT : I should give a mention to the freeware Q-Dir as I used it for a long time. It's not in the same league as DO but it is free so..
I've tried them all and none come close to the scope, depth and flexibility of Directory Opus. Inevitably, it's not free, but it is the cream of the crop.
Q-Dir deserves an honourable mention as it's freeware and pretty powerful too.
Q-Dir supports 1/2/3/4 directories in one window. I use 2 to 4 directory views almost every day to move/copy files.
Though older looking this reminded me of Q-Dir which has 4 panes (and tabs) and a LOT of options.

Just what I thought of when I saw it. I used to run Q-Dir x64 portable but I rarely need it these days.
Your app looks nice, good luck with it growing a larger userbase!
The best by far and no tabs is why and saves every directory and customization when closed is Qdir. Been using it since XP.
Screen shots so you can check it out. http://www.softwareok.com/?seite=Freeware/Q-Dir/Screenshots
Here's a download location with 32bit, 64bit, and even a portable version. And a discription of many of the functions it supports and for cutting and pasting you can't beat having 4 directories open at once so you just cut and move a few inches and paste and your done and no messing with tabs. I stopped using explorer because of this program. http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/q_dir.html
Q-Dir It amazes me how many people don't seem to know, that you don't have to use the windows explorer to browse your files.
Q-Dir is the best for my purposes. But it is a bit of a hassle to set up. For an easier experience you could try Explorer++ or Free Commander.
Other programs:
CCleaner - "Crap Cleaner" for your computer. Also has a program uninstaller, registry cleaner, file shredder and much more
Opera Mail - a great mail client
LibreOffice - Microsoft Office for free.
The rest has already been mentioned.
The files are locked away in %programfiles%\Windowsapps, to access them you need to take ownership of the folder and grant yourself permissions or use q-dir with system level access enabled (run as admin, enable extra\system...).
That said i have no idea if shoving that folder on another computer will have the store recognize the content, you can always try though.
FreeCommander, Q-Dir and Total Commander are some programs that you may (or may not) like.
I try to only use portable software since I am always on different machines, so these titles I recommend are portable versions.
I really dig MultiCommander. This program does everything but walk your dog. There is a 64bit version. The setting for Tree Folder view is on the right near the top. I use this program regularly.
My favorite program for the past few years has been Q-dir, download at the previous link. There is a 64bit version. This program is always running on all of my stations. The setting for Tree View is in the Extras menu. Having four explorer windows with the tree view will make your life so much easier.
I really don't get the point of clover. If it was possible to drag files between tabs it would be marginally useful but it doesn't. Q-Dir is 100x better.
This will probably be buried, but...
The two tools that genuinely surprised me with their usefulness are:
>The file management in Q-Dir is based on MS Windows Explorer but 4x plus Tabs and with more functionality!
This file manager does everything I had hoped for and more. You can even get it to selectively, or completely, replace the lacking file explorer in Windows.
>With GameSave Manager, you can easily backup, restore and transfer your gamesave(s). >No longer do you need to manually track through all of the those different directories to backup/restore/transfer your gamesaves, making it great for those who like to share gamesave progress with friends/family, format frequently, paranoid about data loss, etc...
You can have it auto-detect where your saved games are (or point towards them manually) and have it periodically back them up to a folder. You can even have it create proxy-folders in your dropbox so they back themselves as you play the game in real time without GameSave running.
No file explorer will let you do this, I have never even heard of expanding multiple folders in the same (main) pane. If the purpose of opening them all together is to enable easier drag/dropping or comparing contents then something like QTTab might make things easier. What would be much better is a true multi-paned explorer like the freeware Q-Dir, or the non-free, but very powerful, Directory Opus.
