3) isn't it just a shitty browser extension/scheduled task/program after startup that could be easily removed with something like Ccleaner?
Is it playing over and over again? Run MalwareBytes rootkit tool, Kasperskys virus removal tool, Hitman Pro.
I would then run a malware scan on your system: download Kaspersky's Virus Removal Tool. http://www.kaspersky.com/antivirus-removal-tool?form=1 Let it run and it will find and remove most malware on your system.
Many different malwares out there interfere with SWTOR. Most malware also is silent: you wouldn't know if you had it without running a scan.
Then, get a real antivirus: Windows Essentials is pathetic and barely functional. Avast works well with SWTOR and is free: you might want to disable the voice alerts though.
Try the other two Virus/Adware Removal Tools in the sticky:
Which antivirus software are you using? I tend to lean toward a single antivirus software but several malware removals. Malware is a broader category than viruses.
Some scanners to look into to make sure the machine is not infected.
Another thing to test, if you boot into Safe Mode, does Control Panel still automatically minimize? If so, I'd get those scanners above and run some scans to verify you aren't infected.
might be a malware\virus infection try scanning your computer with malwarebytes and then with Kaspersky virus removal tool if things didn't change I suggest to make a refresh install of windows, follow the link here
Windows closing, can you be a bit more specific? Seems like malware did run, but I have no idea if it's actually persistent or not. Apart from MWB you could also try this.
If you have a basic firewall and adblock you should be ok. . . If your still worried. Malwarebytes is a free virus removal tool. https://www.malwarebytes.org/antimalware/ it's the 14 day trial. Just uninstall after you run it.
Kaspersky also has one http://www.kaspersky.com/antivirus-removal-tool?form=1
It can't hurt. /u/nexcore recommended the TRON script, I've never used it but it has a good rep. It's a large download and takes hours to run though. You might also try Kaspersky's Free Scanner. There's also Bitdefender's Online Scanner and their free AV product.
I highly recommend Bitdefender for ongoing protection.
Run Rkill again, then ComboFix but ComboFix won't work on Windows 8, 8.1, 10. I assume you already ran Malwarebytes. If not run Malwarebytes first, if it's still there run RKill then ComboFix.
If all of that does not fix it, run RKill then Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool. If Kaspersky finds something on its first scan it will do a longer scan that might take 45 minutes or longer but I have had good luck with it.
edit: I notice that you have Kaspersky Anti-Virus installed already but i would still run the Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool. It is a stand alone program that doesn't install and your installed Kaspersky may possibly be deactivated by that malware you have.
Have you considered throwing your computer out the window... :D :| :(
Yeah, given that a new profile didn't do anything, a Reset wouldn't do it (otherwise I would've suggested it).
Right now I'm just spitballing. If you ran the tool to remove Securom, then perhaps running something that cleans up the Registry? I think CCleaner may have something.
You could also try running these:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/combofix/
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/tdsskiller/
(the big blue button on both, the exe one on the second)
And maybe this too.
I'm just trying to think of things that would alert you to stealth things / things that aren't supposed to be there and enable you to get rid of it.
I wasn't clear on the result of what you said. Was the SecuRom indeed present? Or did it not tell you. If it was indeed present, then maybe somehow the fix didn't take or was somehow incomplete?
