I feel like beginners get no respect here at dev and at xda, no one was really willing to help me at xda 2 days ago. Now that I feel like I have a better grasp of things, here's what I think you need to do: 1] Install KingoRoot (https://www.kingoapp.com/) and hit the "One Click Root" button. It should root, but if it doesn't, try KingRoot (https://kingroot.net/) and root that way. 2] After doing this, you need to install TWRP on your phone... oh... wait... You can't. TWRP for some reason isn't available on your phone, and I don't think CM13 is either. These are custom recoveries, and they should be able to help you download certain files you need. 3] Well, ok. I think now what you need to do is install the "Root Switch" app. I'm pretty sure this won't work without the SuperSU root which you need TWRP for, but give it a try.
If kingroot doesn't work, try kingroot or framaroot. Doubt anything else will work. Hope your problem gets fixed.
You may want to try this. After reading more on the subject, multiple people were having the same problem, however there was no definitive solution given. This is the latest version of twrp 3.0.2-0, built specifically for the Fire HD 6. If you have any trouble we can always flash back to stock with Odin, assuming that you have a PC.
Also, did you by chance once have KingRoot installed? Or have you ever used it to root?
I saw that no one was really lending a hand so I thought I would try and help out. I did a bit of research and the problem that you have is that not to many people take the time to develop root methods for these lower end non flagship phones. I was only able to find one root method that some people said would work and some didn't have much luck so I figure you can try it, all you have to do is download the app and follow it's instructions and just hope it works for your phone as this is a one size fits most type of root method.
I've never personally used this app so I can't say how good it works but you can give it a shot.
Hope this helps
There should be a big green "Download for Android" button or something like that.
Again, if it works, get a custom recovery and remove the thing ASAP. Unless you like CM levels of bloatware as your super user app.
Yep. You may have to shop around though, there are different tools out there for rooting. Of the ones I know, KingRoot is an apk you download for your phone then follow up with a program to remove any miscellaneous data. Reminds me of the shit Pangu jb left behind.
It might not be possible. The only guides online are for downgrading to an earlier version (which requires wiping the device) and then rooting it and upgrading it.
You can try some other ways, like the Kingroot apk or Kingoroot, which can temporarily root the device.
Rooting your phone won't wipe your data, but unlocking your bootloader does.
An unlocked bootloader is needed in order to root your phone. However, once your bootloader is unlocked, it stays unlocked even if you unroot your phone (unless you manually relock you bootloader).
TLDR: Rooting does not wipe your phone, but unlocking bootloader does.
Edit: One-click root apps like Kingroot exploits Android security loopholes and root your phone without messing with you bootloader. You'll keep all your data if you root with those apps.
However Kingroot has a reputation of collecting data from its users so it's recommended to switch to SuperSU after you rooted your phone with Kingroot.
If you're running lollipop or any older version of Android you could use Kingroot. It has a really high success rate but ~~it's reputation is not as good as SuperSU or Magisk.~~ it collects user data.
However it is possible to switch to SuperSU after you rooted your phone with Kingroot.
P.S Rooting your phone with Kingroot won't wipe your phone data
Edit: I am not promoting Kingroot but it could be the only option for phones that could not unlock their bootloader. So if you're using it as a stepping stone and switching to something more trustworthy after root, you should be fine.
Edit 2: Instead of down voting me, correct me if I'm wrong.
depends on its version 6.0.1 sould have the chainfire auto root i link useing odin , also there should be kingroot APK tat could work and Kingroot Pc . Most samsung devices are easily rooted this way .
proper way is to use odin (check xda forums), but you can try kingroot https://kingroot.net/. worked fine for me on an s4. use the kinguser root management app (installs itself when you root) to remove root after you finish setting everything up. kingroot also installs another annoying app when it roots (Purify, I think it's called), but you can uninstall that after rooting.
Root first (this is a temporary root). You'll need it to flash a bootloader: https://kingroot.net Download the apk, make sure any apk checkers are disabled on your phone, install & go through the process to temp root.
After root, download this & install: https://m.apkpure.com/d802-lg-g2-autorec-lollipop/b007.autorec2 This will install twrp.
Before you restart, I'd also download CM13, the appropriate open gapps, etc so you have it on your phone. You may or may not need bootstacks. I used bootstack-d802-LP_30b-bump-signed.zip on my CM13 install & it works great.
After all that's done, boot into recovery (turn off phone, power back on by pressing power + down, let go when logo comes up & immediately hold buttons down again, choose yes, yes). Make a FULL backup (check everything), do a full wipe (everything besides internal storage, that's where your downloads are), install bootstacks first, then CM13, then gapps.
Okay you need to use KingRoot It's mostly in a Chinese language, and doesn't work 100% of the time(keep retrying til it does.)
Here's a RootJunky video on how to do it.
I believe when I did it on 5.1.2 the process was; Try KingRoot repeatedly to get it to root, use the RootJunky supertool to change the KingRoot to SuperSU, install Flashify using SuperSu, Use Flashify to install CM12. Have a load of problems with GAPPS, Eventually give up realising you need to queue the GAPPS install to be done after the CM12 install through Flashify while on FireOS.
THIS WORKED FOR ME!!!!......I have an Ellipsis 8. I was getting all the same error messages stated in this thread..Avatar already set/crash--THEN...-I ROOTED THE TABLET without computer connection-(download kingroot for android https://kingroot.net/)-(and Root checker app from playstore.).Little bit of trial and error in the Kingroot for me because it only wanted to root 68 percent i had to "IGNORE" instead of "enable" the less optimal options and then rerun kingroot...when i was finally at 100 percent,I signed into the pokemongo trainer account i set up for my son on the tablet, through my LGV10 phone..It let me pick avatar and continue on to catch his first pokemon!!! I then signed out and signed him back in on his tablet!!WORKING NO ISSUES!! THANK YOU it has been WEEKS of trying to figure this out. I hope this makes sense. Pretty much after I figured out how to root my device, your "Fluke" fix totally worked thank you
I was able to root it once with Kingroot.
I forget if it was the latest version or an older version.
Once kingroot said it was rooted i used root checker (available from play store) to check if the device was rooted properly. It was. From there I followed the guide:
https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonGoSpoofing/
It lead me to the onboard avatar issue.
Which the guide here worked, but the game kept freezing.
So I decided to try and unroot by downloading SuperSUme:
https://apkpure.com/super-sume/darkslide.com.supersume (I think this was the good working link I used) It overwrites Kingroot, and installs SuperSU, which I used to unroot.
I reset the device to factory default. From this point I'm having issues, the device won't root again, and it wont install the android updates.
I can't remember if I installed all the updates before rooting, which I think may have helped. And that's all I know, I'm trying to do different things and I'll post again if I ever figure it out.
I know a workaround for the oboard avatar issue as well. Basically it comes up when you already created your character/set up looks. Then proceed. When you get to the point where you get to catch your starter, the app (Pokemon Go) would stop working. So I go in again, and then get the onboard pop up. If I create a new google account, it popup disappears, but the app always crashes. Not sure how to work around this yet. I was trying to help out a friend on the samsung tab 4 as well. Same issue as everyone above.
I was also able to successfully root and spoof an LG G3, using the same method above. Never encountered any crashing issues. The G3 roots after you hit "Try it" for the root strategy in King root. Unfortunately since the DDOS attacks yesterday everything has gone down hill. My phone just keeps dying. Although the phone is in extremely poor shape which I think has a lot to do with it.
