Here is a database made by a couple of authors of books with ace characters:
A lot of these books are fantasy, but I specifically went looking for YA books and found a solid 20+. Some of them are actually hiding in plain sight. I've never read a book with an ace character, but I did read one of John Green's books where a character was accused of being ace.
Hope this helps, though! The database is marked based on the gender of the character, HOW asexuality is used in the book (if the word is used, ect), whether the character is a lead, main, or side. . . it even goes as far as to say what each character's sexuality is specifically. Many of them are demisexual, too! A lot of them also specify homoromantic, heteroromantic, biromantic, and I found a couple panromantic ones. Hopefully this can help you feel very included, too!
Happy pride.
The Aromantic and Asexual Character Database
I tried sifting through this database myself to find some characters, but it’s a lot to go through since there’s more than 300 entries... hopefully this helps you? Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.
Yeah it's good to know that there's nothing wrong with you :)
There's a database of books with aro and/or ace characters here!
You got me interested! I found a thread with a bunch of suggestions and resources. I'm definitely going to pick one out for Quarantine. Happy reading!
I don't know if this is the way to link other Reddit posts but it works.
Edit: Ohh, also this is handy! https://www.obvibase.com/p/N7SD6v1F4mrVBWzV/?location=%7B%22type%22%3A%22table%22%2C%22databaseId%22%3A%22N7SD6v1F4mrVBWzV%22%2C%22queryPath%22%3A%7B%22recordPath%22%3A%5B%5D%2C%22columnPath%22%3A%5B%221%22%5D%7D%7D
look for your Summary of Benefits & Coverage (SBC). It looks like this. All providers of health coverage are obliged by ACA to provide a copy of this "nutrition label for health coverage" - typically as a PDF - to people covered by the plan. It may have been sent to you via email. SBCs include information on your maximum out of pocket spending limit.
Have you checked your coverage ID card? There may be a phone # and/or website URL at which you can obtain this information and/or a link to your plan's SBC. Make sure you find the SBC for your plan - an insurer can & typically does offer a variety of policies.
Good post.
To make it easier to non spanish readers, here are the links to the lists of Unplayable Commons and Playable Uncommons and Rares.
Definitely following this. I haven't seen anything too good yet. I like the book An Unkindness of Ghosts by Rivers Soloman, and I think the main character of that is. There is a list of OwnVoices: https://www.obvibase.com/p/BRhZeTG6GZyYUt2G/?location=%7B%22type%22%3A%22table%22%2C%22databaseId%22%3A%22BRhZeTG6GZyYUt2G%22%2C%22queryPath%22%3A%7B%22recordPath%22%3A%5B%5D%2C%22columnPath%22%3A%5B%221%22%5D%7D%7D
For me oddly the ones that are most legible as having intersex-esque themes are NOT explicitly, or have things like vaginismus, e.g. Lily from Sex Education or the woman from My Husband Won't Fit. These read like fully developed characters even if not explicitly intersex, but they feel intersex because they struggle with anatomy in similar ways.
Claude/Claireis definitely a protagonist, plus Adele is Demisexual which I think also counts as an Ace character (and she's included as a character in the [https://www.obvibase.com/p/N7SD6v1F4mrVBWzV/?location=%7B%22type%22%3A%22table%22%2C%22databaseId%22%3A%22N7SD6v1F4mrVBWzV%22%2C%22queryPath%22%3A%7B%22recordPath%22%3A%5B%5D%2C%22columnPath%22%3A%5B%221%22%5D%7D%7D](Asexual and Aromantic Character Database)
i thought about something more simple like this
But i dont think i could get access to this through Unity
OP, post a link to your Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC). It looks like this. Your insurer is obliged to provide you with this "nutrition label for health coverage" - it helps make comparing plans and confirming features easier, & it's meant to be shared, you can't get in any trouble for sharing it.
It may not specify whether sonograms are or are not covered, but it would tip some commenters to whether it's likely that they are or not.
