About 10 days ago they fitted out in the main branch support this architecture You can download latest beta for Android (.apk) and IOS (ipa) http://purei.org/downloads/play/weekly/ The perfomance now up to ~25% better.
There are currently no stable PS2 emulators for macOS that I know of. OpenEMU is looking into Play! but last I checked it was still early in development (a few games boot, but don't play well).
Well the PS2 emulators are still very much in their infancy stage, so the current status is that most of them are a buggy mess. But the people who are developing them have a passion for their apps, so I would imagine that a lot of these bugs will be ironed out fairly quickly.
The one I'm currently using is an app called Play!, by Jean-Philip Desjardins. It's still very very very beta, but it seems to be one of the more solid builds that I've dabbled with. Within a year, I'm confident that this will be vicariously close to a final release if not fully released entirely by then.
There is one for PC called PCSX2, but not for Android.
Edit: You could try running the emulator on your PC and use Game Stream on your tablet to play it, but there is no PS2 emulator for Android currently.
Edit2: Play! is a new attempt to create a PS2 emulator. It is in its very early stages of development so PCSX2 is still your best bet, but Play! is planning to eventually make an Android PS2 emulator. http://purei.org/
I don't know about the malware (I really don't think it would contain malware, but I honestly don't know), but the version you were trying to download is from 2011. You can download newer versions from the weekly build repository.
That is not true, you can either donate via Patreon or PayPal. http://purei.org/about.php
If you have skills to help the Dev even if it is closed source, give him an email. He might appreciate the help. Also I can imagine it would be good for the CV.
There's Play!, but it specifically says KH2 will only "go in-game" as of the latest version - that means it's probably not playable. I don't think you're going to find anything that can play PS2 games on a phone or tablet, since PS2 emulation is a little taxing.
I've heard good things about DraStic and PPSSPP, though? I know the PC version of PPSSPP is wonderful. I'm sure there's a GBA emulator that works, too.
No, Play! works easily/right out of the box on Mac and only uses OpenGL 2; no BIOS needed either/etc. It can't run near as many games as PCSX2 can and has many more issues, specifically with it being very demanding and needing a massively powerful CPU to run most stuff at fullspeed, but it's an option and it's pretty neat, although it sucks that most games won't run at all or will run poorly, but it's improving.
These are some games that will run close to perfect on an i7-4790K/similar (on Mac)
Final Fantasy X
Dark Cloud
Final Fantasy XII (probably still lots of lag due to VU emulation)
Kingdom Hearts
Splinter Cell
Manhunt (I think it's playable, but not sure)
Persona 3 FES/Persona 4
Prince of Persia - The Sands of Time
Xenosaga 2/3 (not certain about 3, but 2 will probably still be pretty slow-ish)
Don't think there's a ps2 emulator on Android unfortunately. But finding the ps2 rom for the game is easy enough
Edit: looks like this emulator exists but no idea how well it works http://purei.org
Years...on average a lot years.
PS1 emulation has been on going for more than a 17 years, but has only been available for mobile device since 2011-2012.
PS2 has been around for PC some time now too, but only on Android in the past year; check out Play! for progress reports.
Citra or any other 3DS emu that comes along for Android in the future will be long after Citra is considered stable.
The github page does not mention Linux a single time. While Linux and Unix are similar in many ways, they are not the same thing. I generally don't care to make the distinction, but the "GNU" part of "GNU/Linux" literally stands for "GNU's Not Unix".
There is no mention of Linux on http://purei.org/ > Play! is an attempt at creating a PlayStation 2 emulator for the Win32, OSX, iOS and Android platforms.
This is not the first time that I've seen people say that Play! does not have a Linux build, so the confusion is definitely real.
EDIT: The about page is even more outdated > Play! is an attempt at creating an emulator for the PlayStation 2 console on the Win32 platform.
There have been builds for months.
Play! is on GitHub and the builds are uploaded to the main server for all platforms (Win, Mac, Android, iOS) they can be downloaded on, in order from oldest to newest (highest to lowest):
http://purei.org/downloads/play/weekly/
There's also a Cydia for iOS .deb packages only:
I'm eagerly awaiting official Linux builds, which should be soon.
All of the latest official weekly builds are in one place (all platforms):
http://purei.org/downloads/play/weekly/
EmuCR releases more up to date builds sometimes, but they are Windows only (also, be careful there if you try and download there; lots of phishing sites, adware, deceitful download buttons, etc.).
PCSX2 is 2002. I may be a bit off in 16 going by Google but it's deffo older than 10y at this point. It doesn't say on their about page nor their git (used to be on Google code) as others will attest. Are you thinking of DobbieStation?
here's their page on archive from 2008, it seems I was off by one year, it's 2005.

PS3 is closing in toward Dolphin heights of emulation, and there are two newer, clean-sheet PS2 emulator efforts that may change the stagnant PS2 emulation situation: Play! and Dobiestation.
Not yet, curently there are only two PS2 emulator:
pcsx2: runs (very fine) only in Windows
and
Play! that runs in Windows, OSX, Android and iOS BUT runs very slowly and buggy. You can give it a try: http://purei.org/downloads/play/weekly/
PCSX2 is getting long in the tooth and will be forever 32-bit. There's a clean-sheet emulation effort called <em>Play!</em>, r/Purei, but it's early yet. Dolphin is an extremely mature and refined effort by emulator standards.
You mean a link to a website for the emulator? Here you go -> http://purei.org/
As for being a viable alternative to pcsx2, I'm afraid its not quite there yet.
And thats just purely performance- and compatibility-wise, not including additional emulation features like upscaling and various other 3D enhancements/hacks.
Your phone is probably not powerful enough to emulate a PS2 game either. As far as I know PCSX2 is not easily ported to other systems. You are probably have to wait a pretty long time to see PS2 emulation on a phone.
A quick google reveals this project: http://purei.org/ Havent checked it out.
Long story short, invest more time in research and less time in writing lengthy posts and making stuff up on the spot.
PCXS2 doesn't appear to have an Android version.
I tried Play! and it kinda-sorta booted persona 3 with lots of lag and glitches.
It is in very active development tho, so maybe sometime soon...
There's already an Android PS2 emulator in the making, it can play a lot of commercial games but only a few seem to be working smoothly. It's called 'Play!' you can check out their official blog or gameplay on Youtube. https://www.youtube.com/user/UnlimateDDDDDDDD
I don't play a lot of games on emulator but you can give PPSSPP a try. I think it's the only PSP emulator on Play Store (I may be wrong). There is a PS2 emulator in the works named Play! It's currently in alpha. Here's the link to the website: http://purei.org/
Linkme: PPSSPP
Yeah, last night I tracked down the older versions that were native to osx, and after fighting with it for an hour I got it to run, but badly. I also found a link off of OpenEMU's wiki for an app called Play! (http://purei.org/) that successfully opened a PS2 iso, but I couldn't figure out how to configure any controls, so it was pretty worthless at the moment.
Play! is a new PS2 emulator that is being developed, but its way too early in its development. They are working on an android port which you can download and try out here.
