I think ARC Browser is what you are looking for.
Instead of trying to make a solution just for the shield, I would recommend you use plex. Plex can be a solution for every device in your home: the shield, tablets, phones, chromecasts, rokus, apple tvs, etc. All your media stays on one computer in the house, but watchable anywhere. You can switch between devices, and resume where you left off. Even allows offline syncing to devices to watch on your next plane ride.
There is one for PC called PCSX2, but not for Android.
Edit: You could try running the emulator on your PC and use Game Stream on your tablet to play it, but there is no PS2 emulator for Android currently.
Edit2: Play! is a new attempt to create a PS2 emulator. It is in its very early stages of development so PCSX2 is still your best bet, but Play! is planning to eventually make an Android PS2 emulator. http://purei.org/
Use Night Mode Enabler. You'll need to have updated to Android 7.0.
This works far, far better than Twilight which just applies a clumsy red tint to everything, thereby lightening the black onscreen. Android night mode, which this app enables, actually works as a true blue light filter.
According to Amazon, it comes out on January 16, with a Pro version releasing at the end of the month.
https://www.amazon.com/NVIDIA-SHIELD-TV-Streaming-Media-Player/dp/B01N1NT9Y6
~~Not going to lie, I'd much rather have a new Portable, though.~~
Looks like the Borderlands games are on sale as well:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tt2kgames.Borderlands2
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tt2kgames.BorderlandsTPS
I think the normal price for them is around $15? I could be mistaken.
Just sign up for Google Opinion Rewards and save the credits up to buy Drastic. There's really no other DS emulator worth using for Android. Heck, it's better than available DS emulators on PC even.
It's only $4.99. Google tends to give quite a few surveys early on when you sign up, shouldn't take too long to make that.
Yeah absolutely.
I use an app called Droid Mote to do this all the time. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.videomap.droidmoteserver&hl=en
You do need to buy it, but I think it works great. Install and run the server on the Shield, then install the Client on your phone. The app connects through WiFi, so the phone and Shield have to be connected to the same access point.
There's probably free alternatives, but I haven't tried them in a long time. I bought DroidMote a couple of years ago, and it does everything I need it to do.
Yup, as most have stated, there is the Android TV Remote app . That should work if on the same WiFi, haven't tried it with a direct BT connection.
Also, USB keyboards, controllers, etc can plug into the console box. BT Devices can work, but you have to be able to get to the pairing menu first.
Lastly, you can program a universal remote to work with it. It can sometimes work directly with some TV remotes, but not always. The ShieldTV console box has an IR receiver on it.
I'd just play the original SNES version unless the bonus dungeons and updated translation are important to you, in which case just play the NDS version.
There is an Android port but it requires network connection and flakes out if you don't have one, so no playing on commute or anything. Dumb.
The PSX version is probably the "worst" one due to load times, but with emulation the load time is also minimal, so not a big deal. You can't really go wrong with any version.
I just set mine up yesterday and I Highly reccomend all of Robert Broglia's emulators
They autodetect the shield controller as well as the 8bitdo wireless snes remotes that I have so no set up needed. If you are interested in NES and Genesis definitely buy nes.emu and md.emu. I spent the 30 dollar credit that came with the shield tv on all his emulators and it was definitely worth it.
Also if you are interested there is a frontend designed for the shield tv called Hyperspin
It takes some time setting up but once you've done it you'll have a full Interface for launching games without ever even having to open the emulators
I didn't know they where going that high. I'm about to sell mine since I don't use it anymore.
You can get it from Amazon but it's back ordered right now. https://www.amazon.com/NVIDIA-945-12570-2500-000-SHIELD-Controller/dp/B00LMRL00O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1482598429&sr=8-1&keywords=nvidia+shield+controller
Guten tag!
I purchased this Fintie case in black for $12 from Amazon. It's a fantastic case. The fit is very precise, and the magnetic closure works well. I would absolutely purchase another of these cases in the future, and have recommended them and also been approved of by two of my coworkers.
Manufacturers headline:
Fintie NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet K1 SmartShell Case - Ultra Slim Lightweight Stand Cover
Oh praise the lord, I just found a solution after posting this everywhere and nearly trying everything! So for anyone who finds this, because they have the same problem: After connecting the keyboard, I changed my input settings from Swiftkey (which I normally use on my devices) to AOSP keyboard, and I was able to move just fine in Borderlands 2 via Gamestream!
I then tried a few things, and it seems the problem is connected to my german QWERTZ keyboard layout! I installed this to try to solve my problem, and while setting it up, I also activated QWERTZ layout: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apedroid.hwkeyboardhelperdemo So after setting everything up to NOT use QWERTZ layout or changing input method to AOSP keyboard, it is now working fine finally! :)
I don't know for certain, but I would look at If then, then that and I believe I used Tasker for this sort of thing. (I.e. I wanted my device to disable the WiFi if I was not near the cell tower for my home)
Had both versions of the Nexus 7, just recently upgraded from the 2013 N7 to a Shield Tablet K1.
My N7 was my go-to E-Reader device for a long time and was perfect. Nice sized screen, fairly light. The 7" screen on it was just a bit too small to read comics however, so I never bothered.
When I upgraded to the K1 I afraid the extra weight of it might make reading a bit less enjoyable. But luckily it's just as easy to hold the tablet up.
I was surprised when I tried reading some comics that the mere 1 extra inch of screen space allowed me to read the text comfortably. I thought for sure I'd have to get at least a 10" tablet for comics.
So I'd say that the K1 would be the perfect tablet to get, even if you're not using it for it's main purpose of gaming.
And just as some added info, I've tried a number of comic readers and settled on the paid version of this one for now, it seems to have the basic features I want even if it doesn't have the prettiest interface:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cyo.comicrack.viewer.free&hl=en
And I used Google Play Books for regular books.
I've been using Aerial Dream It takes a little while to launch the first time as it's streaming video and I have slow internet, but it's worth it.
Sometimes I just want to sit there and watch it. You can check out preview videos here.
Yup, this is indeed the case. USB works fine, just plug and play. If you want to pair via Bluetooth you need to root the shield TV and sideload the sixaxis app from the play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dancingpixelstudios.sixaxiscontroller
Source: have tried it myself with the original ps3 controllers. Also, Google.
Not even the windows firewall? I don't mean to nag, I just have to ask.
Can you access a shared folder on your computer through a file manager on the Shield? At least that'd confirm that they can actually "see" each other.
Also, give Limelight a try. It's basically the streaming component of Shield Hub reverse engineered & improved.
Boom! https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/android-platform/14VUiIgwUjY/UsxMYwu02z0J
http://www.androidcentral.com/kitkat-sdcard-changes
That is why you have the option to move apps to sd cards within Android TV, which then permits the application to write to that device. Marshmallow unifies storage between internal and external sd cards therefore expanding overall storage.
It depends: http://www.howtogeek.com/164783/how-to-connect-mice-keyboards-and-gamepads-to-an-android-phone-or-tablet/
Different devices have different drivers in their kernels. Android "is" linux, so its really just a matter of what things are compiled into the kernel I would wager.
USB Mice are most certainly supported out of the box on some devices, but it can be a bit random, and usb otg .. is very random.
I cant really tell since I think merlin has some changes that might affect this kind of stuff. I know that at least at one point merlins firmware improved wifi for mobile devices.
Try the merlin firmware, download, unzip and upload the .trx to teh firmware upload form. It's very simple (you need to redo your configuration however). https://www.mediafire.com/folder/bkfq2a6aebq68//Asuswrt-Merlin#2324w3jh7e4q4 Latest at the bottom.
If you dont want to try that straight away, you can google around a bit about wifi performance for the RT-N66U (I dont recall any settings that actually did anything).
You should also try disabling 5ghz manually and see if its better / worse on 2.4ghz alone.
Finally you can install "wifi analyzer" from play store, and make sure you are using a channel that has minimal interference from other APs (use the view: channel rating). That seems however unlikely since you have good speeds with your mac book.
I get 700-800 with iperf wired (locally, my internet is 100/10). I dont think thats very relevant in this discussion however. The router is very well capable of great speeds, but physical walls, other networks and miniscule wifi settings can interfere.
Moving apps to the SD is built into the system from Nvidia, it works on 4.4.
Zero Write access. reading the SD card is ok (playing music, watching videos, copying to internal)
No SD Write access is a super simple fix if you root your tablet, 100% functionality restored.
Play store app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sdfix&hl=en
Xposed module: http://repo.xposed.info/module/kz.virtex.android.sdcardfix
Nah sadly not been looking myself. If anyone reads this who has a Android TV from this list then they can dump their build.prop via this method and then we probably could get 4K world cup. I know a few people got it working this way with the FOX app over in the US which only worked with Hisense TV's
I did this last night with my Shield (Just picked it up a few days ago and I'm so happy).
On Windows 8 or 8.1 it's a little more difficult, as they've hidden the option to create an ad-hoc network. Follow this guide to set up your new network adapter for ad-hoc (Use the command line method): http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-create-wireless-ad-hoc-internet-connection-in-windows-8/
On Windows 7 you'll use a GUI so depending on your preferences it may or may not be better. Use this guide: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/set-computer-to-computer-adhoc-network#1TC=windows-7
And that's it. Once you connect your Shield to the PCE-AC68 Ad-hoc network you should be able to find your PC with no issues. I found it to be better than through the router only at a close range but I tried it with a generic Tenda wireless usb, so I think you should have a much better experience with the PCE-AC68.
I use my tablet often as a media device on my TV and it works well. I bought one of these otg cables so I can use an Xbox 360 adapter and charge at the same time. Console mode is really useful because it turns off the tablet screen and just displays on the TV. I use Netflix, Youtube, Google Music and they all work well, along with games.
Unfortunately, Amazon Prime video is not directly supported on Android devices and will only display in SD, not HD :/
Was I seeing things? I could have sworn the new SATV slide said "Preorder now, available later this month". I can't seem to find where to preorder anywhere on the site.
Found it on Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MYV94H3/ref=twister_B00U37EA38
Amazon has some but they aren't cheap at 55GBP.
Well it's pretty much the same thing but it's provided by Valve. Originally it used your PC to stream to a set top tv box they sold, which is now discontinued. They have a beta version of an app for android and ios now though and it's just built into Steam already you set it up on device and Steam will handle the stuff on your PC, and you use Steam Big Picture mode to navigate it all on your device. Touch screen stuff is not gonna be fabulous (of course it won't be with Moonlight either tbh) but can always use your own pad you connect.
In some ways Nvidia's may work better, but that also requires Nvidia's hardware and this wouldn't cost you anything else or any theorizing if it'd work. You just run the app, do the pairing process with it and your PC and it should be good to go.
Android version of the app's over thar: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.valvesoftware.steamlink
look for "sideload channel" in the Google play store....https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dxidev.sideload.channel.launcher&hl=en_US
Please check out this documentation it is supported by all Android versions and I use this with VPN.ht to great effect. See if this helps.
EDIT: Here is another natively supported solution. You may need to reason out how to do this in Android TV but I am reasonably certain that these settings would exist.
I personally like using the Remote Android TV app from the Play Store. It has a small helper app that you need to install alongside it from the Play Store as well that will allow you to open specific apps by using your phone and pressing just a single button from within the app from your phone.
Also, there's the "official" Android TV Remote" app made by Google, but it has limited capability.
Installed the proper emulator? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.epsxe.ePSXe&hl=en_GB
you can download games (called roms) if you already own them legally (cough) here... https://www.loveroms.com/roms/?q=crash+bandicoot
I've used AccuBattery for phones (specifically my nexus 6p before and after I replaced the battery).
Gives good statistics and expectations on the status of the battery, but probably like any of them you need to run the battery all the way down with it installed so you can see how the discharge behavior is so it can get a measurement of the current battery capacity and drain rates. But you can do all that with it for free.
yes. you're good all the way up to dreamcast with the shield. gamecube runs pretty okay. beyond that you can always emulate on a pc and gamestream to the shield.
this is a great way to access and organize the emulaters you do run natively.
Absolutely not, if you are rooted do not press the OTA update button that Nvidia gives you. I do believe you can use FlashFire to do an OTA update on a rooted device without having to wipe everything though.
I had the same issues and couldn't get them resolved to for satisfactory use, and I tried a he'll of a lot. I ended up getting Sixaxis Controller. I was rooted anyway.
Also pay attention to the USB cable! I use the original shield charger and ampere app to monitor the charging rate. Same charger with different cables will reduce the output to as low as a THIRD of the standard rate. Install ampere for free and check your cables! They might be a bottleneck.
I believe what your looking for is GameKeyboard+
I use it for remapping hardware buttons but one of the listed features is what your asking for. Some of its features are root-only, but you'll have to check it further to see what its limits are.
Same here. You're just going to have to use a different browser like Lightning Browser for html5 videos until this issue is resolved. No problems there.
New on 3.2:
> "Access SHIELD folders from a network PC or Mac and enjoy drag-and-drop file sharing. Enable in Settings > Storage & reset > Access SHIELD folders on PC."
First, make sure you have the latest version of Plex Media Server from the play store. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.plexapp.mediaserver.smb
I have a Shield TV (16GB) an external 2TB hdd connected via USB, and in the Android menu for the storage, there's an option to enable sharing the drive over the network.
Go to Settings > Device > Storage & reset > Access SHIELD folders on PC and turn on the sharing feature.
Grab the IP displayed, along with the username and password, and connect to the IP from your computer (Usually \\<IPAddress> in a file explorer).
You should then see 2 folders, "Internal" and "sdcard1". sdcard1 is the for the external drive in my case, as the 64GB SDCard I have is merged with the internal storage, and that is what "Internal" actually is.
The caveat is, the only area that is RW over the network is inside Android/data/com.plexapp.mediaserver.smb, so I just put all my plex media there for easy management.
More info here if needed: https://shield.nvidia.com/blog/how-to-setup-plex-media-server
If you are not seeing the option, use this link to push the update to your Shield: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.plexapp.mediaserver.smb
After that, the option should appear (at least it did for me).
You also need to make sure you have activated the Plex Media Server.
~~Minecraft shows up on my Shield TV under the Games section.~~ (nm, it was the Story Mode version) You could also try installing Sideload Launcher to open up apps that don't appear in the main launcher.
In theory, this should work. In practice, you'll probably run into some issues. First that comes to mind is that Steam's big-picture overlay is pretty much required to use the Steam controller. I think Moonlight has an option to stream big picture mode, so maybe that's a workaround. Also, I'm thinking there might be some input latency, depending on the distance to the PC & any walls/furniture in the way. Lastly, and this is fairly minor, I would think that since the device wouldn't be getting any direct input, you'd probably have to deal with the screen dimming every 20 minutes or so as it thinks you're not doing anything.
It has been a long time, but I think the one I ended up using was this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.openvpn.openvpn&hl=en With that said, in the end, I gave up, at least with using PIA, as the connection always timed out. Good luck!
Yes, the best!! You Don't Know Jack, it's part of the Jackbox party pack. Fibbage is extremely popular too. Worth every penny.
If you don't mine streaming then there are a LOT of games available.
This is my set-up; Shield TV with shield controller + 360 wired controller running KinoConsole to connect to my PC (Radeon) and launch steam big picture mode, this gives access to all of steam.
Then refine steam for local coop + full controller support and profit.
For the wireless thing: Go to Settings -> WiFi -> press the vertical dots in the top right -> Advanced -> change "Keep WiFi On During Sleep" to Always (note: instructions are for phone, I don't have my tablet with me right now but the steps should be similar). This will affect your battery life since the WiFi will always be connected.
For the Home Screen problem: Try a replacement home screen. I use Nova Launcher (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher&hl=en). Once you install it, Android will ask what you want to use as your Home Screen when you press the Home button. Select Nova Launcher and then select "Always use". You can import your old home screen settings when you first launch it.
Just a few apps: GL Tools, let's you play some games that aren't compatible on the shield, for me that's primarily XCOM: Enemy Within.
Gesture Control, lets you set up gesture controls similar to the ipad stuff, I've got one set so that whenever I swipe from the right side of the screen it goes to recent apps, basically just makes everything smoother.
Another is Power Nap but you need to get accepted into the beta group for it. I think it operates similar to doze in Marshmallow, I got 1% drop over 8 hours last night as I slept.
That is why applications like this exist for rooted devices to mount the storage as writable at boot on KitKat: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.buak.Link2SD&hl=en
Here they talk about the combined storage and writing to usb drives. http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/05/28/android-m-feature-spotlight-external-storage-can-be-adopted-as-true-internal-storage-or-accessed-normally-with-no-additional-apps/
Sometimes updates roll out for different devices at different times to avoid server overload. Try going to the Play Services page in the Store an seeing if it'll let you manually update.
This sounds like something SoundAbout is meant to address. I've never used that app, only seen it mentioned here and there, but it would be my first stop if I wanted to pull off something like what you're trying.
Edit: Welp, checking out SoundAbout's user forums yielded this useful information:
>Android does not allow simultaneous audio output in the audio profile manager.
I'm not sure if it will work, but you can try something like Ultimate Rotation Control. The app is free for seven days so you should be able to see if it solves your problem.
Retroarch supports many systems. It took me a while to configure, but you can use up to 4 controllers. with this I ToTaLLy recommend Gamesome, which can be configured great with retroarch and gets you box art!
You should be able to install from these links.
Config the controllers in Retroarch(Tricky). Then tell Gamesome which emulators to use(Easy). Point Gamesome to the location of ROMS(anywhere) and Box Art will DL automatically.
Hope this helps. Tell us how it goes.
I've been running ~~ePSX~~(FPse)[https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.emulator.fpse], it's worked great out of the box with both the shield controller and the wireless xbox 360 controllers that I have. I play multiplayer stuff on it fine.
Looked it up, I installed something different.
I like using ES File Explorer and MX Player it works great for local streaming.
Check out this app called Sideload Launcher. It should allow you to find the sideloaded apps that do not show up on the launcher a little bit more easily instead of having to go into settings every time.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.tv.sideloadlauncher
Half life 2 recently disappeared from the Play Store, so it's anyones guess what'll happen
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nvidia.valvesoftware.halflife2 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nvidia.valvesoftware.halflife2ep1
So you clicked on the play store link from the thread I linked and it's already up to date? If you're just trying to update from the store from the previously installed link it won't work (I think something with the package changed). If you go to this link what does it say?
I use the Corsair GTX 128GB. It's a solid state drive that's super fast, I have never had an issue with speed.
update:::: After unlocking and sideloading a cmw image i was able to flash this rom successfully. https://mega.nz/#!Kt5ylSzS!-JrTuBYBG9wPywKc8Mad7PPOD4cotPPruuHqslvCDy4 I know this thread is about locked tablets but still thought i would share it here.
You should try and use Display Driver Uninstaller, and doing a clean install of the Nvidia drivers if you haven't already.
Also try the older Tegra Zone app, you should be able to install it right along side the other one. It doesn't support remote streaming, but it has better image quality, and lower sound/input lag. After you install it, just open it up from the app drawer.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2-JgUT2G-9vQjRha2JXVFBKdE0/edit?usp=sharing
Nope been working fine for me but haven't applied latest server update yet. I just run it in Chrome rather than as a discrete app. Use https://plex.tv/web/app if you're not already and see if that helps
It depends on the Shield you have. If it's the 2019 one, then I'd get an FLIRC and use a Harmony 665. Works perfectly when you configure the Harmony remote with the Nvidia Shield or Nvidia Shield GEN 2 device (use FLIRC as the make).
For me Shield goes into Sony soundbar and soundbar goes into LG TV's eARC. I don't remember setting anything specific on Shield. On TV I had to enable earc, so sound goes back to soundbar. And I had to buy fancy HDMI cables, otherwise HDR wasn't working: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07WJBP894
Ok, so after hours and hours and days and days of trying to figure things out, I have things working. I can fully control my laptop from the Shield with Keysticks. I tried Controller Companion (Steam), but it doesn't work right. Keysticks does the trick.
So I use KinoConsole for streaming, and Keysticks for control.
I too have worked on this and have found two solutions. If you are extremely patient when playing you can use Pinnacle game profiler to make the shield touch screen and triggers work more like a traditional mouse. The better way is to use a micro usb to usb OTG adapter and plug in a combo keyboard and mouse. Overall I find the small screen a little prohibitive but it will work.
http://pinnaclegameprofiler.com/ - install the program and download one of the profiles that makes an xbox controller or similar map to the pc like a mouse. You may also need to install vJoy so that the computer can recognize the shield input in a game that is not readily configured for streaming.
It has been a while since I did it but I think I used the steps in this guide as a jumping off point. So if I have forgotten steps then you should be able to walk through your particular needs using this. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/622876/general-discussion/-guide-how-to-use-shield-with-non-xinput-enabled-games-and-applications-xpadder-etc-/
Play! is a new PS2 emulator that is being developed, but its way too early in its development. They are working on an android port which you can download and try out here.
1) Try to get a VPN Unlimited Lifetime account, currently for $29:
https://stacksocial.com/sales/vpn-unlimited-lifetime-subscription
2) Install VPN Unlimited app and Zattoo app directly from TV Playstore
3) Connect VPN to Switzerland
4) Watch more than 170 channels for free , including lots of French channels
EDIT: SlickDeals says it's dead. Oh, well.
I just tried it, and all I got was the 90-day Google Play Music trial. :(
It probably doesn't matter, but my Shield TV is on firmware 2.1, and if I go check the Google Cast settings, it shows as version 1.16.45911. On my PC, I made sure I was signed into Chrome, just in case that mattered.
I just pulled my OG Chromecast out of the box and plugged it in, but I got the same results. I cast the offers page to it, and all I get is 90-day GPM trial. So either I'm ineligible, or it's over.
Download stadia apk from here > put on USB key > install on shield from usb key > launch app> use shield tv app to control stadia cursor > go to settings "experiments" > toggle on this device > profit.
I use this one to transfer files to the Shield (my Plex server).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.xnano.android.ftpserver.tv&hl=en_US
You can buy hdmi cables that are one directional (no arc), and have fiber optic lines in them instead of copper. That will let you do lengths of more than 30ft without performance hits. I use this one: ATZEBE HDMI Active Optical Cable,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KG71K8K?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I just made this comment on /r/AndroidTV:
I've tried a few launchers and ended up sticking with Top TV Launcher 2. I like being able to have custom icons, custom wallpaper and pin multiple apps to a single icon.
I prefer air mouse functionality & a physical keyboard in conjunction with SwiftKey on my ATV boxes myself.
Like the look of the new Amazon remote tho.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ambilight.gboulanger.hue.testhue2
this app works alright, doesn't work with Netflix or Amazon Video. Have to install via the web as it doesn't show up in Shield Playstore
No experience with that game but the n64 emulator allows you to map your keys yourself. I personally use the the retrobit 8bitdo android 64 controller for my n64 roms. I bought it from Amazon around a year ago. It may be another newer n64 controller now but I'm not sure
Retro - Bit 8Bitdo RB8 - 64 Wireless Bluetooth N64 Styled Controller for iOS, Android, PC, Mac, Linux https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M1KP9GT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_3qCIBbBPFSFZG
All you have had to do was disable whatever apps that were enabled within the accessibility services menu within settings.
You gave yourself a ton of extra time consuming setup work by doing a factory reset.
If you need mouse functionality that bad, get an air mouse remote that has it built in.
Yeah I bought one of these guys about 6 years ago and it has been running strong ever since. Handles all my plex needs fine along with a couple of other VM's.
I'm definitely interested. I'm on the east coast as well. The controller retails for 50 I believe last I looked. Depending upon how much shipping is if it'll still save me money @35 I'll go for it. Pming you now.
Edit* - Looks like it actually retails for 60 - https://www.bestbuy.com/site/nvidia-shield-wireless-controller-black/5709707.p?skuId=5709707
https://www.amazon.com/NVIDIA-SHIELD-Controller-Android/dp/B01N7DQ0L6
This is my router, i am connected to 5ghz, and streaming amazon and wwe network.
I am tellin ya, I have the same connections on other devices to the same services and dont have problems.
i ended up buying this stuff:
NAS:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BNPT1EG/ref=psdc_13436301_t1_B014YN6IK4
harddisk 2x 4 TB:
This should be enough for quite some time for me - there arent so many 4k movies out there yet ;).
i hear that i will not be able to use Plex, to connect to my NAS and flawless play 4K movies (40-50Gigs), because plex will always try to transcode the 4k movies, for that they have to be stored locally.
but i should stick to using Kodi and just play the files on the NAS directly from there.
The Netgear AC1750 works great with it on Gamestream over 5GHz, even when both endpoints (the tablet and PC) are on wifi.
> If so, then what's the cheapest router you recommend that'll get the job done?
Forgot to reply to this part.
On the cheap I'd go with this one. It's basically an updated version of the one I have and supports some solid speeds on 5GHz band for your Shield over wifi (and four gigabit ports). It's also still backwards compatible with a, b, g, and n wifi, and 2.4GHz band, so no worries there for your other devices.
I'm actually considering this as an update now, and looking to move my old one to my homelab, but I need to do some more research first to be sure.
They're specific USB cables that put the device in host mode to power external devices (like keyboards or controllers). By default the Android device is in slave mode (so it charges, instead of charging what's plugged into it).
You don't need a gigabit switch. It won't help if your router/modem isn't changed out.
The Arris TG1682G has a 320 MBPS Down Speed. It's DOCSIS 3.0 compliant, but it doesn't support gigabit ethernet, even on home LAN from the look of it.
I'd recommend just getting a DOCSIS 3 modem and a separate router. Those all-in-one modem/router combos suck for the most part, and double up as a single point of failure. With it all in one device, if the device dies, you're out home networking, whereas with separate devices if the modem dies your home network still works, and if your router dies, the modem can act as a single connection to the internet (more if you have a dumb switch).
Technically speaking, the modem is fine for general internet, but is a bottleneck. I own a similar one but mine has a fast ethernet port that I connect to a gigabit router. Gets the job done with full gigabit ethernet, and solid wifi, particularly fast on 5GHz. I don't recommend that router today, as I'm pretty sure it's EoL, but you can get a similar gigabit router. Look for ones that support 5GHz ac wifi.
But getting a switch won't help in and of itself, you need a router, and to stop using that modem's limited capacity for your routing.
I assume you're referring to the K1 tablet. Yes, you can get an OTG cable that supports charging and connect it to a network adapter.
This two in combination work:
it has to be adoptive storage. I am using a 'Samsung Pro Plus 64GB MicroSDXC Memory Card --- 95MB/s Read, 90MB/s Write' It may seem overkill but works good. https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Plus-MicroSDXC-Memory-Write/dp/B01273KFZW
I'd agree with the assessment. For adopting as internal storage, I wouldn't recommend a u1 card. Go with a UHS-1 / u3 card
unfortunately that doesn't work with the portable, only the controller for the shield tv. It links to a different one for the portable, which has just 1 used one for $30 - https://www.amazon.com/NVIDIA-SHIELD-Carrying-Case/dp/B00EPVRLNE/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&%20ie=UTF8&keywords=shield%20portable%20case&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&qid=1471489403&ref_=mp_s_a_1_sc_1&sr=8-1-spell
I just ordered this remote off amazon - works better on shield than the actual shield remote, and it controls 3 other devices.

well that makes sense. The 24 watt chargers I was talking about are These guys, and if you do the math, that's about 2.4 A per device, which is about what the apple ipad charge blocks output. So I use a 2.4A charge and it can very slowwwwly charge my shield while I am gamestreaming, I would imagine all that a .8A powerblock would do is make your battery last longer, but you would still net-loose power overall under load.
Use this charger. I've got 2 K1's I bought on release day and an original and all 3 charge from empty to full in a couple hours on that.
That charger will also allow your tablet to slowly charge even while gaming on it..
It's a great tablet. And Gamestream is still an option, as is emulation.
And if you still wanna go the "portable" route, the tablet pairs well with an Ipega PG-9023 controller. Alternately, if you prefer a Sony type of D-Pad, there's the Saitake STK-7003.
Doesn't seem like both of them would be malfunctioning the same way.
They didn't come with any cables.
Here are the ones I bought.
