This app is plain stupid and bad. It claims to kill services by running another service killing services periodically??!
Newsflash: you can disable the problematic services natively from running in the first place: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice&hl=en
Stay away from this!
I had this problem as well (on CM12), after the update my phone was awake 100% of the time. The solution that worked for me was to use the app disable service to enable SystemUpdateService. Apparently when it's disabled (e.g. for custom roms) it can cause a wakelock.
That said, I just checked and SUS is disabled again (probably due to another update, I'm on 7.0.92 now) but the wakelock hasn't returned. Worth a shot though if nothing else has worked for you.
Here's a fix that's working for me so far:
1) Download Disable Service from the play store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice)
2) Go to 'System' tab and locate 'Google Play services'
3) Enable SystemUpdateService (must grant root privileges)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice
Google play services - disable everything has "analytics"
Turn off gps when you do not need it
Go to google's settings and disable everything you think it will drain your battery
Download greenify and learn to use it
I believe there was an app called "Disable Service" that I used quite often with 4.4.4 and 5.1. There was a long thread on XDA where a couple of power users uploaded instructions for disabling a ton of permissions for processes/apps like Google Play Services all the way to Facebook. Disabling these permissions caused my battery life to skyrocket and, as the article's authors stated, did not have an affect on the app's usability.
I haven't checked XDA lately for updates in this area, but that would be something I'd definitely be interested in! I try to keep apps/games to a minimum on my phone, but it would be great to have a new list of processes that are safe to disable.
You don't need any of those Xposed modules or Greenify. With simple root you have access to Android's PacketManager's ServiceManager which control's all services on the device.
A simple dumb interface app to the ServiceManager such as DisableService that has been out for years can already do all of this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice&hl=en
Here's a fix that's working for me so far:
1) Download Disable Service from the play store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice)
2) Go to 'System' tab and locate 'Google Play services'
3) Enable SystemUpdateService (must grant root privileges)
Found this with this app from google play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice
You need root, then you can disable the required services as seen in the screenshot.
I think this could be worth knowing...
What do you guys think?
I used wakelock detector to find out what was using my constantly waking up my phone
used https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice to disable the service.
In my case it was com.google.android.gms/.measurement.PackageMeasurementService
TL;DR: You need a rooted phone. Disable the service that syncs phone alarms with the watch:
adb shell su -c "pm disable com.google.android.deskclock/com.android.deskclock.WearableSyncService"
Or use the Disable Service app to accomplish the same.
If you're experiencing Google Play Services wakelocks, then install Disable Service to enable the System Update service (under Google Play Services). It requires root and if your device isn't rooted then flash SuperSU v2.46 via custom recovery.
What worked for me and many others is re-enabling the "SystemUpdateService" in Google Play Services framework. It seems custom-roms disable this service and the new Google Play Service update does not like it. Two downsides to it are: a. you need to be rooted and b. this needs to be done on every reboot (since the service is disabled on boot)
This is the App I used to enable the service: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice
Edit: This option is much safer than completely blocking the Play Services in Greenify/Privacy Guard/etc.
Have you upgraded to Oreo?
The first thing I would do is check battery usage of course because it may give you an indication of an app using too much resources.
I would also check the list of Running Services (Settings -> System -> { } Developer Options -> Running Services) to see if anything looks out of the ordinary and if there are apps using a lot of resources (if you can't see { } Developer Options, go to Settings -> System -> About Phone and tap 7 times on "Build Number" at the very bottom of the list).
I'd also check permissions, especially the ones found under "Special Access" in Oreo (device admin, display over, battery optimization, usage access, etc.)
If you have any social media app, you could disable them one by one and run tests like you did with safe mode. You can use DisableService if you're rooted as a comprehensive tool.
> Overheating, freezing up, lag, stutters, not responding to presses.
If you have an app that modifies a large number of small files, it will make your 5X come to a crawl. Do you have any app that may be doing file manipulation in the background?
For some more involved investigation, use the Battery Historian tool. A great tutorial HERE. Although, again, it's battery related, it may help find the culprit.
Or as /u/feelingthis53 said, your phone could be dying...
I did this years ago, as far as I can remember - if you install Disable Service, in the Google Play Services container, disable systemupdateservice and that will stop it from checking for updates.
Hey, yea I did! Have updated the OP.
Download 'DisableService' + give it root permissions - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice&hl=en
Then open it up and go to the second tab, System. Scroll down to 'Fused Location' and untick the service there.
Go back and scroll down to 'LocationServices'. Untick everything here (I have 7).
Reboot your phone.
All real GPS functionality is now disabled on your device. When you use the fake GPS it won't be competing with anything, so will work flawlessly.
You will need to go into disable service and turn everything back on to use any other location app on your device - like google maps.
Let me know if that works!

I had the same issue as you. I used this app called disable service and searched for the service that was causing the problem. I disabled it, rebooted and it was fixed!
I use an app called Disable Service.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice
After you install find MotorolaOTA and disable the 4 services under there and it has worked.
I can't tell you how many times I dismissed the OTA because I am rooted and it boot loops me if I accidentally install the update. I haven't made the jump to Marshmallow due to the work in going back to a stock Rom and rerooting to apply Marshmallow. Hope it works for you.
Have you tried using the Disable Service app... On my OnePlus One that had the same battery drain I had to actually ENABLE System Update Service under google play services because it is disabled by default which causes a drain... Let me know if this works for you...
you probably have the Google play services wakelock that everyone is having.
there are a couple ways to solve it on Oxygen.
first is to install Disable services from the play store. navigate to google play services, then disable systemupdate service (or somethign like that...its one of the few options that doesn't have a check next to it. put a check there, and the wakelock should go away. this method does NOT survive a reboot...so you'll have to do it every time you reboot.
the other method is using Tasker (a $3 app...its pretty awesome though). I haven't done that one, so you can search. this is a permanent solution.
CM12 fixed this bug a while ago...apparently oxygen didn't....shame on them.
its been murdering batteries on OxygenOS. once I fixed mine, I was getting better battery life on Oxygen than i was CM12.
Sorry if I caused confusion. You have to root your phone not the process. Rooting your phone gives you administrative privileges to change system processes. Once you root, you can use an app like Disable Service to disable carrier IQ.
Use something like this, or search for Xposed Amplify for more advanced service/wakelock blocking.
There are hundreds of guides on how to get root access, but the biggest problem you'll find is having to wipe all data in order to unlock the boot loader, if it isn't already unlocked.
And if you're going to wipe all data, you could try a factory reset to see if it solves your problem without having root access.
Since it seems related to Play Services, and I've been recommending this to users experiencing a different issue, it may just solve your issue as well. It's worth a try as a first step.
Possible fix for anyone still struggling with this: although I had no luck with the command line tricking, I managed to get rid of the warning notification by using this handy tool to disable the four services related to the guilty app. Furthermore "Wallet" app can be safely removed via Titanium Backup, neither of the operations seemed to harm my software in any way.
Making this stuff so resistent wasn't the smartest move imo. I mean we got the joke. Could as well let us move ahead BEFORE next build. Especially knowing not every device gets regular updating. Users are probably gonna be too busy struggling with the permanent notification to actually enjoy the prank.
To be honest, it's not worth it since there are a couple of "disabler apps" in the Play Store with the same functionality that are free. For instance, DisableService.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice
> ...or specific permission per app as in My Android Tools.
Yes, it's a nice app but I don't see where you can disable permissions per say.
From their Play page among other things: "enable/disable components(activity, service, receiver, provider)". And that's what I use it for a few things after using LOS built-in Privacy Guard first.
I used before their other app Disable Service simple & straight forward but I prefer My Android Tools now because same functions + extras.
They only downside is that you can only backup what you disabled and not what the apps & system looks like before you tweak. Some apps already have some services disabled depending on the settings choices in those apps and that is not backed-up
Settings > Apps > tap on application > Permissions > you don't see any toggle(s)?
Yes when > tap on application > Permissions > 3 dots > all permissions > it list all permissions & capabilities & the toggle option disappear. It's for info only.
Privacy Guard controls many of those permissions.
If Privacy Guard > Enabled by default & Show notification on > then after installing an app & opening it > quick access via Notifications to Privacy Guard's setting page for that app is great to prevent all kind of stuff invasive & not necessary for some apps like Start at boot, Run in background, etc.
It's my favorite LineageOS feature.
A search online suggests downloading the Disable Service app which gives service names.
I've tried it it with the Earth and Moon Live Wallpaper and it shows that the service name is: earthandmoon.etlwallpaper.com.LiveWallpaperService
There are a couple of LWPs with the Earth and Moon but the one tried was the only LWP with the exact name.
Re enable the fused location under Google play services and under location services for your device using this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice
Restart the phone and you should be able to use your real GPS location. If you want to spoof again, undo the changes.
Does it really though? I have been told the same thing before about some of these odd modded and unreleased versions, but none were stable on my phone. Crashes were still commonplace.
My 6P is on 6.0.1, so testing this one on Nougat would be a colossal pain in the ass if it doesn't work, since I would need to downgrade and restore all my files if it fails to work properly.
Edit: How is it "official"?
Edit2: Disable service app? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice&hl=en&rdid=cn.wq.disableservice - this one?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice
Run the app, and click on system to show system services. Scroll down to Fused services, and disable it. Root required though.
An alternative app, GoGPS! has disable fused services as one of its option. Not sure how it does it with out root, but it works.
Interesting. I don't believe there is a way of blocking it without root.
You could try one of the service disabler programs and see if it can get to the correct service. I installed this one but the service you need (Under System, then Motorola Update Services) requires root access to disable it.
So you can either go down the rooting option or just learn to live with the notification until there is a fix out to get around the locked side.
I read somewhere online it has something to do with the phone trying to update the firmware, but since we're running Cataclysm, it's unable to update... or something along those lines. So we want to stop the phone from doing this process.
I found a way to get rid of the Google Play Services wakelock, but I need to do it every time I restart my phone. Download "Disable Service": https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice&hl=en
Switch to the "System Apps" tab, and then look for/open "Google Play Services". Scroll down through the list of processes until you see "SystemUpdateService" and make sure it is ticked.
Good luck, hope this helps!
Ah man I'm sorry you went through that, I wish you had emailed or notified me earlier and I could have helped. The Disable Location Service simply disables the "Fused Location" service. If for some reason it didn't get re-activated you could always use the Disable Service app to re-enable it...
You have SystemUpdateService disabled on your phone for some reason. Use DisableService to (ironically) enable the service under System - Google Play Services
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice&hl=en
Get that app. It's a good way to view processes that are running in the background. Any apps that currently have services running will be highlighted in a little blue number.
You should be able to find anything that's not a stock app which may be running some processes in the background. If you're still not sure, post a screenshot here and I can tell you if it's suspicious and needs to be uninstalled or not.

There's an app called disable service, use it to disable individual app services that u dont want the app using, usually i disable anyhting containing analytics or location in it.

The way I managed it was with the Disable Service app (Need root) and uncheck "SystemUpdateService". There might be ways to disable it without root too, although you'd have to search around a bit.
There are several ways to fix this, one method is (requires root):
Download DisableService
System -> Google Play Services -> SystemUpdateService
SystemUpdateService needs to be enabled, i.e. the box should be checked.
If you ever reboot your phone, you need to re-check this box. Alternatively, there are ways to automate this such as using Tasker.
No. I don't mess with privacy guard. With the first release, I simply used Disable Service to enable the system update service. After awhile, I switched to a user-made app that enables the service with just one touch.
Shortly after flashing the second release, I uninstalled both apps and re-rooted. My device hasn't stayed awake with the screen off ever since.
Use privacy guard to revoke the wake up and keep awake privileges from Google play services. Also disable the systemupdateservice for Google play services with disable service.
Pay services were keeping my device awake for hours until I did that.
Hope it helps! (:
also worth mentioning is servicely from franco
DS is more of a sniper, servicely is more of a shotgun.
deep battery sleep works on xposed 5.1, though it's too aggressive for my liking. forces deep sleep @ screen off, wakes device for user defined intervals and frequency to fetch notifications. keeps cell radio on so you still get calls and sms texts.
Oh! And after you get it running you should install this app and go to google play services under the system app and re-enable then disable the "systemupdateservice" service (just hit it twice). It has a wakelock on the nightly I'm running at least, and this fixes it and stops it from killing the battery.
Go back to KitKat ... re-root and install Disable Service from Google Play
Once all your apps are updated (Google Play Services is most important) go into this utility and under Google Services Framework you're going to look for SystemUpdateService and uncheck it... Reboot and no more pesky OTA downloads!
misc is actually services constantly running in the background from apps such as facebook it doesn't matter if you turn off the app or use any of the power saving apps it will just continue to turn itself back on and to fix that you need to root and use an app such as https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice&hl=en . . also you say its silly to have to actually turn off your device when you aren't even using it...Its stupid to leave a device on overnight in sleep mode or not all your doing is making its hardware work (even if a minimum amount) and wasting battery cycles (doesn't matter if its 5% or 90% its still a waste) all your doing is preparing the device for future problems down the road just because you can't simply turn it off
I disabled all these social Google related services at system level, using https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice
Needs root
Well, it's still in alpha, certain things are expected to be broken. Personally, I did not yet have to reboot my device due to malfunction and I installed CM in early february. Obviously, some features from Sony's rom aren't in CM, like Stamina mode. The only thing I'm missing is the quick launch of the camera app by pressing the camera button. There are probably many more, but I really didn't use many of the included features of the stock rom, so it's not a big loss to me. Performance and battery life have both been stellar, there were days where some services kept running in the background, draining my battery, but I took care of them using 'Disable Service'. I rooted my phone using giefroot and backed up my DRM keys before installing CM, so all I have to do to revert back to factory state is install a stock firmware using Flashtool and restore my DRM keys. It's that simple.
I've used disable service and disabled system updater app
If you're rooted then download Disable Service and disable Fused Location iirc.
For people with root, there are tools like Disable Service (free) and Amplify (paid) which can be used to disable background services for features that you never use. This is especially useful for controlling huge packages like Google Play Services which tend to just run multiple services in the background at all times.
You can google for lists of services that are safe to disable, but I've found that the best results are generally achieved by turning off whatever seems unnecessary and seeing if things break.
I use this to disable particular services. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice

First off, you have to check whether your device is sleeping when not in use. You say the battery is dead after 7h? Check if the device is active without the screen being on in the battery graph then. It is most definitely an app going berserk...
Go to settings - developer options - active services
How many services does it list (currently 10 on my OP3)? Some of them are needed. But you might find app-services listed which are not necessary for you to run in the background. Closing them there won't help much, as they activate themselves after a short period or next time you go back into the corresponding app. That's also the reason why app-killers will mostly cause more drain than good! Either check if the specific app offers settings to disable background usage, or if it is an unnecessary app, uninstall it. It is also mostly free apps with ads which use the play services a lot (app measurement service / analytics service / firebase). They are free for a reason ;) Root might help in taming these apps: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice
Also something is constantly enabling/disabling your wifi on your screenshots, which will cause additional drain. Either you have disable wifi when screen-off activated, or you have wifi and bluetooth location scanning active. Set Wifi to "always on" as this uses way less battery in deepsleep than mobile data does. Also the latter causes permanent wifi- and bluetooth scanning, which is not what you want! If you enable Wifi- and bluetooth-scanning for location, both will be always active and pinging, regardless if they are disables with the quick toggles.
If you check my recent posts, I criticize OnePlus for all kinds of shenanigans they pull with their software.
Luckily the battery is as good as always at least on my device. Been flashing stable and beta releases and never had any issues with it. This is with the first full charge after updating to beta 15:
https://abload.de/img/screenshot_20170503-22ljhm.png
https://abload.de/img/screenshot_20170503-237ktr.png

This is with the stock kernel. I usually flash blu_spark to finetune the sRGB display calibration, but in terms of battery it never really made a difference. I might go blu_spark with a future update though.
I have 132 user apps installed, Google Sync is fully active, with 2 e-mail accounts pushing, WhatsApp, Threema, google location active... Mostly reading and podcasts + commuting by car or train.
That's with accubattery app telling me my battery degraded to around 2550 mAh. I get more or less screenontime, depending on the signal strenght, amount of wifi, camera and how much I listen to podcasts. No additional apps that "might" help with battery and as much battery "saving" BS disabled as possible within OOS.
For every post telling the battery went to shit, there is another one proving otherwise. As we are are all running the same OS, the only difference are the apps we use, signal strength, settings and different use-cases. So go find your culprit there. It is not the OS or an update they pushed. I used them all beginning with OOS 3.1.2. Nothing changed in terms of battery for me.
As you didn't root, you can use this method to get more detailed battery info:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uzumapps.wakelockdetector.noroot
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1r3VlhZIZVSufZlAeICJet6QBtyAF7z06_ysl1kUKME4/edit#slide=id.p
There is alwas a reason for drain, you just have to find it as the statistics within Android aren't really helpful most of the time.
Why not try to disable the service that's running with something like Disable Service?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice&hl=en
You can turn it on and off with this app
Install Disable Service https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice
search for "OTA" services and disable them
what about that guy over there: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice
they're pretty confusing right ? x)
It's a service that's inside Google Play Services. You can disable it by using an app like Disable Service.
Try Disable service it does not require root and lets you disable the "undisableable" system apps too
Greenify, saves more battery. Since you're rooted anyway, use DisableService to replicate many of the results: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice
Check out this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice
By this app you can disable any service which kill your battery..
Would this do it https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice
nobody ever listens when I say this but its caused by background services running constantly and can be disabled using this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice&hl=en the console would end up having the same problem if it ran on a battery
