Thanks for the RE-tip I've already been using occasionally. However that -no-browser <Cripples> Steam quite much so that you may call this "Game Mode" and call the other normal launch as "Maintenance Mode". Also it's Original Posting was;
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -console -dev -nofriendsui -no-browser +open "steam://open/minigameslist"
for all available options. And you can use http://playnite.link/ + Steam Minimal to get back into a Performance Mode Steam Client of some sorts..
What's the point in paying for it? The website doesn't make it super clear what the Premium version has that the free version does not. Furthermore...what makes this worthwhile as opposed to say Playnite which is what I'm currently using.
They are already working on overhauling the PC gaming experience and Xbox app. There weren't enough games to merit filtering etc, but everything is slowly being added in.
Also the store is a repository for the entire universal platform, the PC games will still be there, but the functionality may be duplicated on the Xbox app or a CShell gaming shell to act as a better gaming library manager.
In the meantime, check out http://playnite.link
Or Launchbox.
And also write to CDPR telling them that we want CyberPunk 2077 as Play Anywhere title and that you will get everyone u know to support that game if they do so.
I'm fully aware that you mostly don't need to tinker things for it to works, same as standalone emulator. The problem is, I always trying to tinker things in the settings, either for enhancement or a workaround, or just messing up things.
In standalone, (mostly) you have the UI that resemble more of control panel rather than option listing. In RA this is rather painful and slow (compared with a dedicated panel setting/toolbar option), because you have no other option. You need to scroll and can't pinpoint the exact option you want right away.
~~Another letdown for me, is that RA is too optimized for controller and couch gamer. Lack of mouse support for navigating the menu, and "full keyboard" as a controller. The hotkeys all over the place and doesn't support combination. I literary can't have a customized keyboard layout for controller without conflicting with (or changing) the system hotkey. There's no warning or alert for that. I do have a 360 controller, but I rarely use it beside games that really required it.~~ Not an issue after I discovered the "Enable hotkeys" option. After I tinkered with RA options recently...
For now, RA is just not for me. I really like the concept of it (one program for managing your games), that's why I tried it in the first place. I even try to recreate the concept with a game library manager to launch all my (emulator plus) games in once click.
Maybe I will use it fully if they finally add full toolbar (or add alternative UI, PPSSPP is a good example) options. :)
Huh?
My Win starts in 10-15 seconds, then I launch a game, and in less than a minute I'm playing.
You should definitely get Playnite, a lightweight game launcher that also supports emulators.
A great game is Dead Cells, launches pretty quickly too.
It's called https://www.steamgriddb.com/manager but I don't think to do "Auto" image downloading thing.
If you prefer, http://playnite.link/ is a very good alternative (older + stable).
Or you may prefer, https://www.gog.com/galaxy giving similar experience (newer).
See the problem is a Launcher is anything that launches the .exe and is always there for every MMO ever played in the past and will in future, resistance is futile.
What you mean is Platform Client (also a Launcher) that Game Stores with more than 10 games (to eliminate wannabes that'd like to call themselves Platform) that performs both as a Launcher and medium to reach their Store, Community and everything else, unlike Launchers, with added security for everything.
And the problem with that proposal is (naive suggestion without background) that every Platform Company has to agree to succumb to Micro$oft (when Hell Froze) and share their technicals/API with them so that they can combine all Platforms/Clients/Launchers under single Unified Launcher as we all desired yet most of us also know nearly impossible, well at least under M$'s reign.
As an analogy, it's pre-USB Phone Chargers era vs post-USB Phone Chargers era and even the very introduction of USB which is not done by single company (as suggested here) yet with a Consortium of many companies to find a middle-ground to "Unify" connections of all PC peripherals. Even if M$ loves to apply for the job, none would agree unless there's something within them for too as such suggestion is only Customer Friendly
where creating more problems than gain for any Company suggested to involve.
TL;DR: Don't hold your breath and http://playnite.link or similar is as close as we can all get where all individual Launchers/Clients would still work in the background.
For non-Steam games no, there's no such program but https://www.steamgriddb.com/manager adds the shortcuts for it and you can "manually" add <non>-Steam images from that site.
However recommending you firstly http://playnite.link/ to do this on its own interface (auto images for all games) and lastly https://www.gog.com/galaxy for PlayNite functionality with a different interface.
Titanfall 2 (TF2) is a good game yet it's a Multiplayer as it was nearly dead until previous summer that Origin "returned" to Steam so that Steam players revivedr TF2 back to its glory. Since it' a MP game, it's also a "Server" game that explains your activation part.
Most of PC Gaming Platforms on r/GameDeals have <Clients> which is a Launcher + DRM Checker + few other things as there are no ways to escape this. Except you can use GOG Store that every program is "optional" so that you can buy Pure Game files on that store.
You're somewhat "overthinking" it as we get used to install clients of; Steam, GOG (has 1 but optional), Origin, UPlay, Microsoft and Epic. Also many Publisher Stores have their own launchers too like; Rockstar, Blizzard, Bethesda and dozens of others. In fact to keep "track" of things, there came the tools like http://playnite.link/ to <Unite> the libraries together for visual purposes.
Origin Client (v1) is generally OK but same function of EA Desktop (v2) is very buggy being in Beta testing. Also if you're going to use any Store told here, please enable 2FA like told in https://help.ea.com/en-gb/help/account/ea-login-verification-information/ for "Mobile" since it became common to hack someone's Email first that hack into Origin using that Email.
I would agree with that reply. I had all kinds of weird texture issues launching from steam even after turning off steam’s pre-caching. I would highly recommend using Playnite as your game launcher. It’s made my pc gaming experience so much nicer! Check it out, http://Playnite.link
Check out Playnite r/Playnite http://Playnite.link
It’s free, open source, simple with no bloat. You can customize it yourself as well. There are a lot of themes to choose from. Best of all, you can add game from all services as well as emulators and locally installed games!!! I just started with it last week and it’s a “game” changer!
Switch to using Playnite as your game launcher! It lets you add games from all services as well as locally installed games. Has a lot of themes to choose from including several full screen. It’s open source so you can change it as well if you like and others have created scripts to display additional info about games. I just started using it and love it! r/Playnite http://Playnite.link
That's definitely one route. Though I try to keep the experience as console-like as possible so fiddling with mouse and keyboard and flipping between programs kind of ruins that.
Had a great setup when I was running a Windows host and Parsec + Playnite. Total dream setup but since switching to a Linux host all that largely went out the window. Sigh.
Respecting your personal choice. However Galaxy v2 will not remove the need for "any" Original Clients as they promised such at their announcement and 4 months after, there's not a single word about it comes from GOG as a progress report, other than Microsoft's explanation to cooperate last month or so.
So anyone is welcome to use any Launcher
of their choice being Galaxy v2 or http://playnite.link or anything else on top of the Original Clients where most are fine with Originals to not change their choices. And this tool is for those who use Steam Client frequently.
Steam's Vanilla UI is most functional compared to all other (including Galaxy v2 shots) solutions yet it's true that Vanilla UI is most outdated as pretty much remained same compared to Decade ago. And obviously you never used Steam Skins
because Metro for Steam is a "Revamp" of the Vanilla UI as much as possible. Sadly Valve is again applying "Valve Time" to delay their Client v2 as it could very well be a Strategic Move to see what GOG will offer and top their offer with their ante on their Client v2.
Hi, there's an issue where some Steam games are not imported properly preventing filters from working correctly. Fix is already prepared for release, but if you don't want to wait you can use this build in meantime.
