Hi Reddit, Alex Parish here - founder of Tastebuds. We've been matching people since 2010 and have created many happy couples through music - I even met my girlfriend on the site.
Any questions, please ask!
I hope they get more servers soon, I would like to try it.
But it sounds like it's not a very good test. There's already a lot of great MBTI tests that figure out if you're one of 16 personality types.
And maybe you could also link your Spotify or Last.fm accounts to find similar music tastes (TasteBuds.fm does this), and Netflix / IMDB / Facebook for movies and TV shows. And even your Reddit account, to compare similar subreddits.
I actually started building a user subreddit matching site where you could chat with similar Reddit users, after working on this: http://www.youshouldbuythese.com/ Didn't end up finishing it, but I always thought it would be interesting to talk to other people who are extremely similar to me.
I am in no way affiliated with this site... but you should check out Tastebuds if you're looking to find someone based on your mutual love of music.
I find myself far less interested in music than I was in college, so I have long since transitioned away from that site. Sadly I don't know what services it is compatible with.
Netflix should seriously consider doing something similar to this, given that so many profiles of 20-something year olds list Netflix as a Friday night activity. It's such a shame that they closed off their public API.
You could always date someone outside of school. Since you're a senior you'll be 18 soon, assuming you're not already, which means you can sign up to a website like http://tastebuds.fm/ and find some qt3.14 music fans
Perhaps tastebuds.fm is a site that might be useful. You might also be able to find people on tumblr who are going to the same shows.
I also prefer having company when going to concerts. The times I've gone alone, I usually end up meeting some pretty cool people anyways!
Theoretically, Tastebuds should work for me by matching me with people with the same taste in music. Practically, there are too few users from Russia there to make it work. The same with GamerDating.
sorry, wrong wordage! it isn't meant to be a dating site.....but maybe someday? Is that something you'd be interested in?
What I meant-Like okcupid, I'll be matching you with with other members based on your profile and what you are looking for.
Tastebuds is the closest thing that comes to mind, but I haven't seen an update to it in a while!
thanks for the note, communication is key!

What do we do? Tastebuds is a service that lets you meet people who love the same music as you. It can be used to find gig buddies, musicians to collaborate with and even for dating! We think talking about music is a great way to break the ice.
Looking for: Testers and feedback about what you like and what you don't like about the service. SIGN UP on our website and send me a message. I am open to all suggestions!
I've never had a boyfriend that is into ~~metal~~ music as I am. When I did date a guy that was into metal he was burned out at that point and had started to move onto other genres like indie rock and so on. So while we could pop in Death and we'd both enjoy it his enthusiasm wasn't nearly as high as mine.
In any case, I don't date people based on similar music interests. If that's what the entire relationship is built around it's not going to last long. As long as they respect what I like in music and we both don't try to be a humongous dick about it, then I am perfectly fine with that.
Also there's Tastebuds.fm, never tried it myself but I also did get the FOREVER ALONE results when I was testing it out when it first started </3
