There's no simple way to just have a short alias for SSRS reports. First option is to have a DNS redirect to the report, but that's difficult to maintain. Alternative that I've implemented for internal purposes in the past is YOURLS. It allows you (or anyone really) within the company to create and manage short URLs. If you can convince your server/applications team to run it, this is likely your best bet.
The software Yourls is self hosted and there is an API for creating URLs - it has a native UI but its a bare basics create URL and view stats sort of deal
~~If WordPress is your blog engine of choice~~ there's also a plugin that ties it in with the built in short URL functionality
Edit: haha if WordPress is your engine of choice, I clearly didn't read the subreddit I'm in :P
It appears to be a small private server. Space at a hosting company, registered through Google Domains.
Creating your own URL shortener doesn't take a lot of time, effort, or money
Here's an open source cookbook for one.
So it's a bit like trying to divine who set up some random Twitter account or blogspot.
Not really strictly DNS related, but that's fine.
What you're building is a url shortener. It's a fun project to build, but just in case you're curious there are others out there that one could use for self hosted url shortening... eg:
I'm removing this post. Reddit in general doesn't like URL shorteners, it looks like you got past the site wide bans by using a roll-your-own service. I wonder why one is being used in this post?
From the YOURLS page, it looks like general tracking and geolocation information are the primary analytic data the service collects.
Uff long story.
YOURLS (Your Own URL Shortener) is a self-hosted URL shortener that is just running on some .php files and a MySQL connection - so, the best part is, if you've got a webspace on your hands, you can create your own URL shortener in no time.
It's getting late here so I guess I am going to sleep, but I think I am going to improve this plugin tomorrow (e.g. make the slogans adjustable via the settings) and share it here.
I'm vegan.
You want to browse your ftp files on the ahk GUI itself ? It's doable but doesn't make much sense.
You'd probably be better off setting something like YOURLS (has custom urls and some tracking) up on your web host then using something like filezilla to browse your ftp server. Use an AHK script to pass the custom path and the url of whatever file you have selected to your yourls site and you're done.
You can use something simple like YOURLS (Your Own URL Shortener) - https://yourls.org/ I use it to provide short-links for one of my blogs. It's simple, and easy to use. You can use custom or random strings with your short urls.
Linky is awesome, you only get 2000 clicks a month free but I would imagine that will be more than enough.
Also if you feel like setting up your own there's
Which has a docker image and you can set up on Amazon aws under their free scheme, if you want to go that route give me a shout
That's what the CMS (content management system) is for. You probably have one already, or perhaps you can install existing software for managing your own redirects. You need something with an interface that allows you to easily enter new links & redirects and edit them.
Example of what you could use:
