>“Since 1920,” he wrote, “the vast increase in welfare beneficiaries and the extension of the franchise to women — two constituencies that are notoriously tough for libertarians — have rendered the notion of ‘capitalist democracy’ into an oxymoron.”
Basically, "There are voters that don't agree with me, and that's not freedom." At least he knows to correctly place the blame on women and poor people rather than the Libertarian party. And there's more:
>In his 2014 book Zero to One, Thiel praised monopolies, arguing that competition destroys value rather than creating it.
So he probably loves our internet situation in the US. Those monopolies creating value is why most people in the US have faster internet than people in other countries where there is more competition. Let's go to the data. Oh.
He's the guy that wrote This (warning: amazon link, open in private browsing so it doesn't effect recommendations) book about how democrats are the real nazis. So you know this guy is grounded in reality.
>I expect Assange to "coincidentally" begin smear campaigns against Merkel within six months.
Russia has already identified her as their next target for smearing and election tampering.
Reminds me of that passage from The Autobiography of Malcolm X where old white guys would pay black people to treat them like a baby, ie change their diaper, talcum powder 'em, carry them to bed.
I think we now know why Trump acts like such a baby all the time.
Edit:
>Once a week, Rudy went to the home of this old, rich Boston blueblood, pillar-of-society aristocrat. He paid Rudy to undress them both, then pick up the old man like a baby, lay him on his bed, then stand over him and sprinkle him all over with talcum powder.
It's a good book. More so for the inspiring civil rights activism than... y'know... this stuff... but a little something for everybody.
"but muslims simply want everyone who is not muslim dead"
that is so ignorant it pisses me off so bad, I have multiple muslim mates who are fucking awesome.
they literally think all 1.6 billion muslims are gay hating terriorists
~
Also here is a great quote from Muhammad Ali last time trump was saying this.
"I am a Muslim and there is nothing Islamic about killing innocent people in Paris, San Bernardino, or anywhere else in the world, True Muslims know that the ruthless violence of so called Islamic jihadists goes against the very tenets of our religion. They have alienated many from learning about Islam. True Muslims know or should know that it goes against our religion to try and force Islam on anybody. Speaking as someone who has never been accused of political correctness, I believe that our political leaders should use their position to bring understanding about the religion of Islam and clarify that these misguided murderers have perverted people’s views on what Islam really is" https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2015/dec/09/muhammad-ali-responds-to-donald-trumps-muslim-ban-plan
the ignorance is crazy
It's a real shoe. According to Amazon, it is imported. Ivanka imports shoes from China.
This can never be talked about enough. It's not a coincidence that the election after the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act all the swing states where Republicans are in charge of the vote went for the Republican candidate.
Not only are the Republicans engaging in systematic voter suppression, they have pretty much admitted to it. They aren't being subtle about their intentions, because they know it's the only way that they will win and they are willing to cheat to maintain power.
Bonus: "If we took away women's right to vote, we'd never have to worry about another Democrat president. It's kind of a pipe dream, it's a personal fantasy of mine, but I don't think it's going to happen. And it is a good way of making the point that women are voting so stupidly, at least single women."
Bonus x2: "I think [women] should be armed but should not vote … women have no capacity to understand how money is earned. They have a lot of ideas on how to spend it … it's always more money on education, more money on child care, more money on day care."
HERE IT IS:

>NPR's Ari Shapiro talks with Sophie Bjork-James, a post-doctoral fellow at Vanderbilt University who has been following white supremacist groups online for nearly a decade. They discuss the origins of Trump's tweet, a GIF of Trump pummeling CNN. Someone by a vulgar username posted what is believed to be the original GIF on Reddit, five days ago. The user has a history of writing hatefully about African-Americans, women and Muslims.
> only seems to exasperate that
I agree with your message wholesale, but I think you meant exacerbate.
You're in luck, Amazon sells a Jews for Trump button.
The amount of anti-Semitic imagery that shows up in a google image search for "Jews for Trump" is telling though.
The intelligence community is pretty sure of it https://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/09/us/obama-russia-election-hack.html?_r=0
Plus Wikileaks declined to publish the Panama papers, which had a bunch of information about how Putin and other Russian hid their dirty money.
> Of course, when they do they meet those they're normally bigoted against they might still hold onto to heir bigoted views but say "oh except for Joe, he's one of the good ones".
Not to say that these racists are Nazis or anything, but it is funny to see parallels in history. Himmler himself said exactly what you said:
> And then they come, 80 million worthy Germans, and each one has his decent Jew. Of course the others are vermin, but this one is an A-1 Jew.
And indeed, Himmler was right... Even fucking Adolf Hitler himself had his own "decent Jew" whom he had placed under special Gestapo protection. Goes to show that even the quintessence of racism does this sort of mental gymnastics.
> But but ACHTKTUALLY the US is a republic not a democracy
God, everytime I read that I want to beat them with a hammer. Return to civics class and learn that word democracy has more than one meaning
NPR interview with Trump supporters who think racism didn't exist before Obama. They don't think they're racists but the changing demographics of America make them uncomfortable despite living in an all-white town.

> "My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times building." > Deliberately provocative remark, as quoted in "Coultergeist" by George Gurley at The Observer (25 August 2002), the interviewer then told her that she should be careful, and she agreed: "You’re right, after 9/11 I shouldn’t say that." Later, in "An Interview With Ann Coulter" by John Hawkins (26 June 2003), she also stated: > McVeigh quote. Of course I regret it. I should have added, "after everyone had left the building except the editors and reporters."
The fact is that it is very easy to accumulate followers, both organically or through paid services. $5 will get you 10+ followers.
In the case of this woman, it is clearly her full time gig. All she has to do is follow tons of people (44K in her case), a large percentage of whom will automatically follow her back. Next, throw in a profile pic of a woman — overly tan, too much makeup, fake "blonde" hair, trailer trash new money look (maybe a pic of her black suburban on the banner image). Finally, post lots of vile, ignorant, racist conspiratorial comments. The Trumpeteers will follow like lemmings on viagra during mating season.
You people of the South don't know what you are doing. This country will be drenched in blood, and God only knows how it will end. It is all folly, madness, a crime against civilization! You people speak so lightly of war; you don't know what you're talking about. War is a terrible thing! You mistake, too, the people of the North. They are a peaceable people but an earnest people, and they will fight, too. They are not going to let this country be destroyed without a mighty effort to save it … Besides, where are your men and appliances of war to contend against them? The North can make a steam engine, locomotive, or railway car; hardly a yard of cloth or pair of shoes can you make. You are rushing into war with one of the most powerful, ingeniously mechanical, and determined people on Earth — right at your doors. You are bound to fail. Only in your spirit and determination are you prepared for war. In all else you are totally unprepared, with a bad cause to start with. At first you will make headway, but as your limited resources begin to fail, shut out from the markets of Europe as you will be, your cause will begin to wane. If your people will but stop and think, they must see in the end that you will surely fail.

Well I acknowledge that he is the president, if that's what you mean by get over it. If you mean something else then frankly fuck you, dissent is part of what makes America great. I am more than happy to engage in a discussion of policy with you, but "he's president get over it" is not a valid argument for anything other than telling people to stop chanting "not my president".
In any case here's what I'm talking about:
Trump vs. Obama inaugural crowds
The full video in which Trump claims that the crowd was bigger at his inauguration
Trump: "Do you hereby swear fealty to me?"
Wray: "Where would you like me to kiss sir? your hand, or your butt?? smooches ass Oh, what is that sir, closer to the hole? Sure!"
Not to worry, they're all still waiting for their Amazon order to arrive, so they won't be needing this quite yet.
That's what was in the back on my mind when I saw this article in NYT yesterday. We rewarded the guy talking about grabbing pussys with the most powerful office in the world.
Ah yep, meant to do that earlier.
>TRUMP: Well, I don’t recommend reforms. I recommend people that are — that have some moral compass.
>You know, I’ve been hearing more and more about a thing called fake news and they’re talking about people that go and say all sorts of things. But I will tell you, some of the media outlets that I deal with are fake news more so than anybody. I could name them, but I won’t bother, but you have a few sitting right in front of us. They’re very, very dishonest people, but I think it’s just something we’re going to have to live with.
>TRUMP: I guess the advantage I have is that I can speak back. When it happens to somebody that doesn’t have this — doesn’t have that kind of a megaphone, they can’t speak back. It’s a very sad thing. I’ve seen people destroyed. I’ve seen people absolutely destroyed. And I think it’s very unfair. So, all I can ask for is honest reporters.
Basically the traditional Trump backtracking and projection. He, as we all know, has been making threats against the media for a long time in the specific form of strengthened libel laws in addition to his vague threats for the media in general (threatening to sue NYT, threatening to sue women coming forward about sexual misconduct allegations, etc.)
Also included in this response is the Trump spin on the term "fake news," which is being used against anyone critical of the administration.
> Alt-righters and Trump supporters started making the OK sign all over the place, then laughing when people accused them of being racist. “Ha ha!” they went. “Joke’s on you! I’m not racist! I only intentionally made you think I’m racist!”
> But whether or not the OK sign ever actually meant “I’m a white supremacist,” in the hands of a Trump supporter, it now means “I’m OK with you thinking I’m a white supremacist, for the sake of a joke.”

It's already worse than the cynical predictions I made when it was obvious we are really going to have Donald Trump as the potus.
This is a good time to read The Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein. I think it best explains what is really going on. The news is busy defending themselves from being called fake (ironic as fuck since their slective coverage and corporate slants are what created this monster in the first place and certainly responsible for Trumps installation) and any number of other completely outrageous/demonstrable lies, while these guys 'pillaged the village' at an unprecedented pace. They've already undone significant progress that took decades to establish just so they can make a buck.
He all the sudden found Jesus, kicked over the wall between church and state, then announced his campaign for 2020. Systematically attacking women's healthcare (abortion/birth control) ensures a huge base of idiots that really believe in this shit. This also means religious cucks can donate money directly to his campaign. This isn't even a topic of conversation in the face of the rest of the disasters.
The list of things they have done that immediately grease their palms at the expense of America and the rest of the world is staggering, and we are arguing and talking about all the wrong shit which creates the distraction they need to plunder the treasury and gut regulations. It's called 'disaster capitalism' by Naomi Klein and her book outlines the game, though it was written during W's reign of terror.
The picture is the front cover to a VR game called 'The American Dream' which itself is a parody of gun culture which makes you do everything with a gun to show you how ridiculous it is. Poe's Law in action. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B078SKR663/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_IqYPCb1M9TYQN
True strength arises from devotion to an ideal. In times of turmoil, we must reject allies whose views are different from ours, as they will weaken us. When the foe is united, we should be divided. When the foe is strong, we should quarrel among ourselves over petty matters. When the foe is on the defense, we should mount eighty different attacks, at different times and places, without coordination. When the foe attacks, we should examine the ideals of the defender, and criticize those ideals which differ from ours. In this way we may achieve victory, or if not, at least we'll feel morally superior while we're being defeated.

I'm reading "Washington: A Life" by Ron Chernow right now so I can answer this question. First of all, being the commander-in-chief for the entire continental army for eight years teaches you a lot of the skills you'll need as president, including not only executive responsibility but also political dealings with congress. He was fighting constantly with congress to get the money, men and supplies he needed to fight and win the war.
While Washington was supreme commander of the armed forces, he was appointed by congress and conducted himself as subordinate to congress.
He was the single most qualified person to be president at that time.
With Herr Drumpf, on the other hand, his business experience, while nice, is not a political job. He has customers, he runs a business, he's an executive, I despise Trump but those are relevant qualifications. Trump is a disaster not because of his resume so much as his temperament and judgment.

Several news organizations have confirmed Buzzfeed released the real deal.
Not really. Most people have no memory. You just wake up sitting up in bed, covered in crumbs, your lap top is open on your lap battery dead and covered drool, and there is a note book next to you covered in illegible scribbling.
No surprise, it would appear that the quote probably doesn't belong to Newton results of a quick google search

Yes, it is. From dictionary.com:
>the husband of an unfaithful wife.
It is literally what the definition is. Now, there is also another definition, the fetish definition, of a man who enjoys watching his wife have sex with other men and obtains sexual gratification from it. But it stems from the original definition, of the husband to an unfaithful / adulterous wife.
People should really read "The Millionaire Next Door". The first third of the book is about disabusing the notion that rich people (especially the self-made rich) all drive Ferraris and drink $1000 bottles of wine every night. For the most part, they drive beat up Corollas and drink Bud Light, because all their money is going into do their work for them.
The debt and deficit only count when they can use it against the opposition, when they are in charge they lower taxes and spend like drunken sailors in the theroy that if they defund the government enough, all of the things it is needed for will magically disappear, or they can "drown it in a bathtub" to get rid of it.
Purest idiocy, but they are certainly consistent.
>sociopaths
You're onto something, but I'm trying to decide between sociopath or psychopath...
https://www.webmd.com/mental-health/features/sociopath-psychopath-difference#1
>A key difference between a psychopath and a sociopath is whether he has a conscience, the little voice inside that lets us know when we’re doing something wrong, says L. Michael Tompkins, EdD. He's a psychologist at the Sacramento County Mental Health Treatment Center.
>A psychopath doesn’t have a conscience. If he lies to you so he can steal your money, he won’t feel any moral qualms, though he may pretend to. He may observe others and then act the way they do so he’s not “found out,” Tompkins says.
>A sociopath typically has a conscience, but it’s weak. He may know that taking your money is wrong, and he might feel some guilt or remorse, but that won’t stop his behavior.
>Both lack empathy, the ability to stand in someone else’s shoes and understand how they feel. But a psychopath has less regard for others, says Aaron Kipnis, PhD, author of The Midas Complex. Someone with this personality type sees others as objects he can use for his own benefit.
To avoid these distinctions, I prefer "assholes".
The bottom line is that the diagnosis is not the cure - voting them out of power is.
This article from The Guardian says he's starting to form his own Super PAC. Trying to raise a billion dollars.
But he isn't in the pockets of special interest groups. Too noble and pure.
>Right out of the gate, the first declarative sentence in that abomination of a comment is laughably false.
Hmm..why? The netherlands and belgium actually have a higher population density than Japan[1]. I'm not agreeing with the conclusions obviously, but that sentence in particular is not completely false.

Reddit runs on AWS, and the AWS acceptable use policy forbids various types of content including content that may be harmful to Amazon's reputation.
So the real question is: why is Amazon Web Services hosting hate speech, promoting white nationalism, and enabling radical right wing terror and murder?
From this article:
> At Fred Trump’s wake, at the Frank E. Campbell funeral home, his son stepped forward to address the political, real estate and society power brokers in the crowd. One attendee recalled Mr. Trump’s unorthodox ode to his father, which Mr. Trump confirmed.
>“My father taught me everything I know. And he would understand what I’m about to say,” Mr. Trump announced to the room. “I’m developing a great building on Riverside Boulevard called Trump Place. It’s a wonderful project.”
Trump praised his own memory while claiming that he couldn't have mocked Serge Kovaleski for his disability, because "despite having one of the all-time great memories, I certainly do not remember him." Amazing. He just can't stop fellating himself, even when he's undermining his own argument with it.
People naturally pick on the South, due to historical trends, but they have a far better track record for integration today than many places in the North. New York is abysmal when it comes to desegregation. New York City and Long Island are some of the worst in the country.
They did cite the actual lawsuit, so it's reliable enough. The article's integrity is a matter of opinion as they're just making a point that the lawsuit should be taken seriously, but there is, indeed, a lawsuit.
I've been hearing that Trump has donated a chunk of his wealth to NAMBLA because he's a raging pedophile who has a baby boner. I mean his boner is literally the size of a baby's, not that he's got a boner for babies. This kid was slightly older than a toddler. I'm not accusing him of anything, I'm just relating what I've heard.
I've also heard Glenn Beck may or may not have raped and murdered a girl sometime in 1990.

It depends. If you live in the south or east of Germany you can get quite a bit of snow. In northern Germany, where I live, the weather is more mellow with less snow, due to the balancing effect of the North Sea. Though, this also means a lot of drizzling rain and clouded skies.

To be fair, the above poster wasn't "making fun of genocide". The potato famine was a tragic event, but it had nothing to do with genocide. Genocide is the deliberate murdering of people. You're right about malice towards democracy. I was a christian dominionist when I was in my 20's. In their books they state clearly that democracy is an evil form of government because right and wrong is decided by majority vote.
Adding to that:
I hope all you Hillary supporters that voted for her in the primary because "Bernie Sanders doesn't care enough about PoC and women's issues" are happy that our new government is so feminist and racially progressive.
>Several teams were having financial difficulties at the time, and the league lacked the fall TV contracts that supported the NFL. The USFL instead tried to take on the NFL in the courts by filing an antitrust lawsuit. The hope was that the USFL would either merge with the established league or win a sizable settlement. The merger never happened, and despite winning the lawsuit, the USFL was ultimately awarded only $3 for its troubles

Wow.
I'd hop on that if I was you guys.
Again, you demonstrate why we always lose. The GOP DOES NOT, repeat, DOES NOT think like this. And that is why they win. The GOP is correct in that they KNOW they are fighting a war. The Democrats do NOT realize this, or refuse to acknowledge it, and so they keep trying to play nice, compromise, "pick their battles." No. It doesn't work like that. In war you don't get to pick your battles. You fend off every attack or be destroyed. When those non-voters, most of whom the Democrats should represent anyway, see someone out there putting up a fucking FIGHT, then they will naturally follow. The reason they don't vote now is that they don't feel like anything changes with their vote, because the Democrats are SHIT at owning their victories and deflecting their defeats. Negotiations, nuance, "going high": These are not things they understand or respond to. They are not effective political strategies. Remember that THE GOP SHUT DOWN THE GOVERNMENT ENTIRELY AND OBSTRUCTED EVERYTHING AND YET THEY STILL WON. So how in the fuck you think that is something that is going to hurt us is beyond me when it has already been demonstrated to have the opposite effect. It's time we stop trying to use "Why Can't We Be Friends?" as a guide and start using The Art of War as a guide. If it were up to me, the Democrats would use the little power they have left to block ANY nomination Trump puts forth and leave the 9th seat empty for four whole years. That's what they planned to do if Hillary won! We have to follow their playbook now or we will be DESTROYED.
He's against free trade in general, but to an extreme level such as wanting trade wars. Economists have said he is a threat to the global economy.
James Mattis in Secretary of Defense is the first person on the line of succession that I think would be unlikely to be compromised.
Unfortunately, even with Trump, Pence and Ryan out of the way, you still have to deal with Hatch, Tillerson and Mnuchin before you get to him. It's also questionable whether he'd be a particularly good choice for President.
Watching the video clip here is so irritating: https://thenextweb.com/socialmedia/2016/05/30/reddit-knows-your-dark-secrets/
He's such a smug prick about Reddit:

Spez: "We'll get around to that [cue arrogant tone of voice and blah blah intro to old addage we've all heard before]...people will wait in long lines and pay high prices if the food is good. And at Reddit, the food is very good. We've got the best content on the internet."
Made in hell, more like. This is actually serious.
There's an article written many years ago for the New Yorker by the philosopher Hannah Arendt which is apposite. A quote:
[...] a whole group of people, and even whole nations, may take their bearings from a web of deceptions to which their leaders wished to subject their opponents. What then happens follows almost automatically. The main effort of both the deceived group and the deceivers themselves is likely to be directed toward keeping the propaganda image intact, and this image is threatened less by the enemy and by real hostile interests than by those inside the group itself who have managed to escape its spell and insist on talking about facts or events that do not fit the image.
Another one from this recent article about the essay:
"Saying something obviously untrue, and making your subordinates repeat it with a straight face in their own voice, is a particularly startling display of power over them. It’s something that was endemic to totalitarianism.”
Well, I was referring to Tea Party shenanigans and the Fox News fuck-up. Just fresh off my memory.
Wow, those posters are really beautiful.
My university library has a poster printing machine, so right now I'm thinking of doing that. Depends on how expensive it is. If it's too much I'll probably end up "rasterbating" it, https://rasterbator.net/ which is essentially printing them out on multiple pages, and then you tape the whole thing together on the support.
I'm not sure yet how I'm going to bring it to the march. I was thinking of taping the poster to cardboard and attach that to a broom handle, but that link you provided said there were size restrictions on the posters for inauguration, so i'll have to check out what's up for the march. Probably they won't let the broom through and i'll just have to bring just the poster. Which is fine but more tiring on the arms.
Edit: For anyone who was wondering:
> Q: Can we bring flags and banners? > A: Flags are allowed, but not on a pole. Posters and signs are allowed, but not with the use of wooden sign posts. Instead, we encourage people to use cardboard sign posts.
There's a lot more extremist anti-Muslim things he's said as well. Along with saying Islam is a "cancer", he also said it's "not a religion", which is espcally worrying because it sounds like an excuse to deny first amendment rights to Muslims.
No, the idea is that PAUL RYAN'S existence is just inherently bad and funny. At no time does AutoModerator suggest Paul Ryan has a "mental disability."
YOU took this funny, throwaway bot script and made it all about yourself, projecting your insecurities - however real they may be - and demanding that a subreddit be made a safe space for you because you invented a reason to be offended at a joke.
But fine, I'll help you out; you should feel much more welcome here
Trump said in a press statement: "Donald J Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Mooslims entering the United States." He totally does want to ban all Muslims.
Judd Apatow believes that the funnier candidate always wins. If that's the case, Franken wins in a landslide.
Not just statutory rape. Actual rape of a minor (maybe aggravated sexual assault - I don't remember the name of the charge but the plaintiff claims there was no consent apart from the fact that she was also 13).
Edit: just looked up the complaint, which alleges "RAPE, SEXUAL MISCONDUCT, CRIMINAL SEXUAL ACTS, SEXUAL ABUSE, FORCIBLE TOUCHING, ASSAULT, BATTERY, INTENTIONAL AND RECKLESS INFLICTION OF EMOTIONAL DISTRESS, DURESS, FALSE IMPRISONMENT, AND DEFAMATION." The full complaint can be read here.
Dunno what you read regularly, but the study is cited by scholarly articles over 400 times. It's also just a little weird you're getting defensive about it without any evidence disproving it.
A study from 2009 found something similar:
>However, our findings do point to the possibility that for individuals who are sexually prejudiced, anger and, to a greater extent, fear may make up a defense mechanism, whereas diminished disgust would be indicative of latent affinity with homosexuality.
So... did this study generate feelings of fear and anxiety for you? Is that what motivated you to attack it?
Yep. I highly recommend uBlock Origin and Ghostery for this sort of thing. Blocking 3rd party elements- e.g., Facebook share widgets on a non-Facebook page- is a big step towards more anonymity. This page (as well as others on that wiki) are useful discussions of how and why to do this, and are applicable to more than just uBlock Origin users.

> Why would it be unobjectionable ? If I'm talking about a single person why would I have to use a plural pronoun just to make one person feel better ? It doesn't make sense, it's silly and confusing. All of this in the name of being "compassionate" or "considerate". I don't see why showing empathy should come at the cost of the sense of words.
I don't really have a dog in the race of Canadian trans-gender rights, but this argument doesn't hold up.
"They" can be used as a singular or plural pronoun. How else would you refer to someone of unknown gender? "I have someone coming by for an interview later. I haven't met or seen them yet, but their résumé suggests they are qualified." It can even be used to refer to someone who's gender is known but not important for identifying at the moment. "This guy ran up to me, clocked me over the head, and then they stole my wallet."

You can probably find a better link, but that one mentions that the use of they as a singular, nongendered pronoun for people goes back to the 1300s. It is right under the Emily Dickson quotes.
Someone posted this earlier but then deleted his post, I'd just like to have ago at explaining it.
So, isn't Alefantis a Greek name? He probably just has an appreciation for his ancestral Greek history and jovial mythological Greek characters. It's always been a fashion among "elites"/intellectuals to celebrate or admire subversive characters - see Piers Gaveston society.
Also there is this, from his wiki: "Antinous became associated with homosexuality in Western culture, appearing in the work of Oscar Wilde and Fernando Pessoa.
So.. he's a known homosexual, so it's just an expression of his homosexuality?"
“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle”

Aaaand apparently here's one Trumpoid response.

these people are unhinged, apocalyptic fascists.
You can see by the picture on the left that Obama created the illusion of more support by having lots more people (mostly illegals, some dead people). There are many many many more people in the picture of Obama's inauguration as compared to Trumps. Very unfair and the fake news is going along with it.
But......Trump's inauguration was simply the biggest ever, according to Trump's spokesperson.
>“This was the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration,
>period, both in person and around the globe,” he said. “These
>attempts to lessen the enthusiasm of the inauguration are
>shameful and wrong.” --- Sean Spicer
Once again, New York Times, trying to mislead the people with facts and dubious sources like "photographs". Sad.

> The electoral college only benefits Republicans...
That's not true. Of the three largest (by EV count) safe states, two are in the bag for Democrats. If there is a problem with the EC is that it magnifies the importance of the swing states, but you can't argue that it benefits either party, because, by definition, a swing state is up for grabs.
The real problem is not the EC itself, but the state level vote counting in the swing states, where voter suppression absolutely benefits Republicans. Just as an example: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2016/10/06/us/unequal-effect-of-laws-that-block-felons-from-voting.html
And don't forget the meeting with Lavrov and Kislyak in the Oval Office the day after firing Comey that the American press was told was a closed event, but the Russian embassy tweeted about anyway.
Well gee wiz, I'm sure glad you found room on here for your differing opinions. Here is your post. With negative points. Here for all to gaze upon. That's freedom of speech. You've had the freedom to get downvoted. Freedom from censorship.
But the fact remains, the sub which shall not be named doesn't play by these rules. So while you are on the whole "challenging your ideology" tip, you may want to consider which places get you voted down and which places just eliminate your points wholesale. There is a gulf dividing these two outcomes. And it is the backbone of the difference between freedom of speech and propoganda.
And also consider how Trump is actively trying to eliminate speech which goes against him. Banning and removing critical remarks in social media as a public servant is just government censorship. The rules change when you are elected to office.
But since you seem sincere, I'll give you something to watch to really show you how empty the people are behind the GOP, but even more so behind Trump. Roger Stone and Paul Manafort are devoid of moral centers and they manipulate the Republican constituency because they deem it to be wholly uninformed and easily roused with rancor and unsubstantiated bullshit.
The film is called Get me Roger Stone. I encourage you to watch it if you really want to shake your paradigm. In his own words, Roger Stone will tell you himself that he thinks Trump's base is naive. What he has to say pissed me off and I'm not even who he is manipulating. I'd say if I was a well-meaning conservative, it mightalr me really reconsider who I support. Because these guys at the top of the GOP food chain certainly don't respect their own base.
This image appears to depict 50-60 m (200 ft) of sea-level rise, as might be reached in several thousand years. Some of that rise is due to melting ice caps and glaciers, some is due to thermal expansion of sea water.
Modeling the melt of the ice caps has advanced dramatically, and you can get an idea of the pace from technical articles like:
Golledge et al, 2015. The multi-millennial Antarctic commitment to future sea-level rise. Nature, 526(7573), pp.421-425.
If you're looking at this, pay attention to Figure 2, which is the model output for how much sea-level rise Antarctica will be responsible for under different greenhouse emissions scenarios. The "business as usual" scenario, RCP 8.5, results in 8 m (26 ft) of sea level rise by 2800 AD, and climbing to 9 m over the following 4000 years as the last glacial remnants recede on that continent. This rise, as noted, does not include the contributions of Greenland melting, or the contribution from the thermal expansion of seawater. The oceans take a long time to warm from surface to bottom.
My understanding is that most "business as usual" models result in around 15 m (50 ft) of sea level rise in the next millenium, averaging about 5 ft per century. Ie, this isn't a crisis that is suddenly solved. As the planet slowly adjusts to it new equilibrium, cities will be forced to move inland or build higher dikes again and again. And there's still more sea-level rise, though at a slower pace, after that.
ahem okay so i took a break and did some thinking
...yeah there are way more serious things than this... though it is very relevant in that her husband was a major mover and shaker at fox "news" for over a decade.
and there are other things going on that are way more important, trump's trip and all that junk, the supreme court nomination, various actions by congress that undermine our governmental infrastructure.. and also there is This
...and not only does he have ties to russia, he has no prosecuting experience
Every time Trump makes some seemingly inexplicable decision, I do a search to see if there could be something personal that it could be based on. There always is.
If I can offer some similar advice: Don't treat every ok sign as a racist signal, but know that when racists use it, they're blowing a dog whistle for other racists. We can recognize that it has a deeper meaning for some groups (racists) but not for others yet.
I'd say I saw a year of shithead pepe memes across wide parts of the internet before it was solidified in the public's consciousness that pepe was coopted by the alt right. For months people said "we can't assume every person who loves pepe is alt right just because some are" but as it got more popular among alt right circles, fewer other uses showed up, as non racists didn't want to be associated with the alt right. This will follow the same path. It started as a joke from Milo and cernovich, moved on to Miller's staff, and has spread among maga crowds. As that association continues and instances like this go viral, people who want to show their maga will flash the symbol and others won't. That they caption it with (Ha Ha libtards think this is white power) is meaningless as a denial of the sign's meaning because we can see who is taking pictures flashing the sign and who isn't. The sign doesn't define a person but a pattern of similar people using the sign gives context to what it means to them.

Or has he? I'm still under assumption that he’s feigning loyalty to Trump in these benign ways. I mean, Kelly is still a conservative fuck, in ways that I will never be able to align myself with. But, I think he’s a man of integrity and is just playing along as long as possible. Taking notes, and waiting to drop the president on his head. If not, then fuck him. But no way McMaster, Kelly, Mattis are confident with Trumps direction. He’s dividing our country daily, and unless those guys don’t recognize the divide and conquer thats happening in our country, from such classics as The Art of War... then we’re fucked. But I have a pretty good feeling they know whats happening. And are following the rule of law until that's no longer an option.
Nothing he says makes sense to me. He uses flowery words instead of being straightforward to impress? However, that of course violates everything about well written English as documented in "The Elements of Style" as we are not writing novels here.
“Engage people with what they expect; it is what they are able to discern and confirms their projections. It settles them into predictable patterns of response, occupying their minds while you wait for the extraordinary moment — that which they cannot anticipate.” ― Sun Tzu, The Art of War
Well this is new and from a reputable source.
If you haven't seen it, Funny or Die put together a movie version of the art of the deal with Johnny Depp playing Trump. Kenny Loggins even wrote the theme for it. It's on Netflix now. I'd like to think that it's closer to reality than the book.
While a hurricane was making landfall off the gulf coast, he's tweeting fake pictures where he paid people to stand in line. Narcissist.
