Beebs is a free Chrome extension, meant for BBC iPlayer but does work for other UK sites, including channel 4.

I've used both Identity Cloaker and IP Vanish, both paid services but I watch enough overseas telly to make it worth while.

I'm in Canada and I pay for IPVanish. I've previously used and paid for Identity Cloaker. I've never really found a free VPN that worked well consistently on all British sites. It's an option, anyway.

My understanding is that although the BBC and ITV are not allowed to broadcast outside the UK, that doesn't make it illegal for someone outside the UK to view legitimate BBC or ITV broadcasts or webcasts.

Simply subscribe to a IP proxy server like Identity Cloaker or Hide my ass, set your IP as being in the UK and you can watch BBC live, BBC iplayer, ITVplayer etc. It cannot technically be piracy, because you are watching the original programme from the original broadcaster.

Well, you can use Identity Cloaker which will give you premium high speed United Kingdom proxy and United Kingdom VPN option. This will enable you to view iPlayer live and download programs to view when you want.

It does cost money though after a free period of about ten days. Though, it lets you use the actual bbc iplayer and becuase it isnt a public proxy, but a private one... it loads really fast too.

You need to search for a good proxy company or a DNS service which allows you to view content which originates from the countries you are targeting.

For a couple of years I subscribed to Identity Cloaker which provides proxy servers in many countries. More recently I've tried which provides access to specific services like the BBC Iplayer and Hulu through a special DNS service. I use iplayerproxy4u, because most of the television I actually want to watch is produced in the UK.

I use Identity Cloaker, which comes with a subscription to OpenVPN. The VPN is very, very good. It also changes regularly. I often check with , and under "Services", it usually says "None detected". As soon as it says "Suspected sharing device", I have a new connection to choose from and the old one is discontinued. I pay for it, it works out to around 10 euro's a month, but I totally ditched my cable, so I'm still coming out way ahead. Let me know if you have any questions - I spent a loooooong time trying to figure out the best way to access BBC, ITV and Channel 4, since 90% of what I watch is Brit. I'd love a way to just pay a licence fee straight to BBC and watch it without a VPN, but unfortunately, that's not an option.

I'm not trying to anonymise anything. I really couldn't care less if websites I visit have my IP address. If it's a scandalous website, they'd perhaps be in more hot water than I am as someone who merely showed some idle curiousity.

I live in North America and I am trying to watch the NZ television programming which is streamed over the net. I can currently get news clips from TV3, but that's about it.

The current proxy service I use is Identity Cloaker. This gives me the ability to use anonymous proxies in Switzerland, Sweden, Germany, Australia, the UK, Ireland, Canada, the USA, Italy, France, Poland, and the Netherlands.

I use it mostly to watch the BBC Iplayer - and occasionally some Australian and Canadian programming.

As longs as you have broadband, you can watch BBC programmes from anywhere in the world, at any time. You can watch in real time as well as on the iPlayer.

You just need to get some proxy software that allows you to link through a UK IP address. I use a programme called Identity Cloaker and it works just fine.

I was researching this last week, and am tempted to try Identity Cloaker last year but their UK support seems to have stopped working.
