I think reviewers were sent the VZW model? the VZW one is by FAR the worst:
Am I missing anything else?
The Samsung browser supports ad blocking extensions just like Safari on iOS, Chrome does not. Adblock Fast worked well on my S6.
you need to download adblock fast from the play store and then go into settings on the Samsung browser and enable it.
I believe only this specific adblocker works:
It is working for me, literally just turned it on and refreshed a page that had ads and then they were gone.
Chrome is a resource hog, I use Samsung browser, which also comes with adblocker feature. You can download the full version via apk, Google Samsung browser and it should be at the top of the list, or you can download the beta version in the Play Store, this is the adblocker that I use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rocketshipapps.adblockfast
I'm using both Adblock Fast for Internet ad blocking and Ad Hell for apps ad blocking.
I'm pretty sure there are ad blocks on the app store or .apk files available. This should block all ads on your device. Here's one I fund quickly: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rocketshipapps.adblockfast&hl=en_GB not sure how well it works but there should be others.
Ahh, OK. Is this it? I just want to make sure I'm grabbing the right thing since the app isn't by Samsung.
Thanks for the tip!
Samsung native mobile browser doesn't come with built-in ad block option. You need to install a 3rd party app like adguard or something similar. There is an adblock app built specifically for Samsung browser and it's called "Adblock Fast". I think that's what you're looking for. Here is the link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rocketshipapps.adblockfast
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rocketshipapps.adblockfast&hl=en. Once you open it, it will give you instructions on how to set it up. Also there was ad blocking with net guard. You can goggle netguard adblock github.
Can you link the one youre referring to?
I dont see anything specific to Samsung. However, if I go into the Samsung App store, I see "Adblock for Samsung Internet"
edit: this one? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rocketshipapps.adblockfast
The first ad blocker is the open source app Adblock Fast https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rocketshipapps.adblockfast
https://github.com/rocketshipapps/adblockfast
Crystal other popular ad blocker for iOS is now available too for Samsung devices.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.crystalapp.crystal
well thats pretty much majority of sites now-a-days... so you either get a ad-block or risk getting infected with malware or worse a root kit! its your choice.
Chrome : Ublock Origin > https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ublock-origin/cjpalhdlnbpafiamejdnhcphjbkeiagm?hl=en
same can be said with firefox > https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/
as for mobile users well thats a bit tricky... if you're on android (specifically samsung) then you're in luck cause they now allow ad-blockers on the browser itself, instead of having to download an adblocker browser that could potentially be shit and have way more vulnerability and security flaws
play store (needs samsung internet 4.0 or above in order to work) > https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rocketshipapps.adblockfast&hl=en_GB
as for anyone else.. youre honestly better of just download the crappy ad block browsers if you need to do a quick browsing session of dbdatabase or black desert foundry etc
Oh, you can also use some Samsung Browser made extensions like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rocketshipapps.adblockfast&hl=en - Adblock Fast
Yandex uses the same Google play store apps that the Samsung Internet browser uses.
So you could install these - after installation they'll appear under Settings | Content Blocking | Content Blocker extensions
AdClear Ad blocker for Samsung
Adblock Plus for Samsung Internet
I've installed all of them to switch between them to try them out. I am currently using Adblock Fast.
PS
Although I've successfully installed quite a few extensions from the chrome web store I couldn't get ublock origin to install either.
EDIT uBlock Origin development build now installs fine[thanks to feelsbadmangun]
Hey, you can use "Adblock Fast" for Samsung browser. Search it in Google Play Store. Edit: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rocketshipapps.adblockfast
Adblock Fast is designed for the Samsung browser and works flawlessly
You have to download Adblock Fast
I use it since S6, block ads & remove elements.
It requires another app. Try one of these:
If you keep getting that message, maybe swap to Adblock fast instead? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rocketshipapps.adblockfast&hl=en
Ive never seen that message
You have to download Adblock Fast
If you're on a Samsung or Nexus device, I would suggest using the default Samsung Browser app. It supports content blockers to block ads. I use Adblock Fast. It was one of the first content blockers for Samsung browser, and it still works fine.
There are like ten different ad blockers available, just not ublock origin. Not sure why. But Samsung Internet is stupid fast, and now includes a tracking blocker too.
There's one called "Adblock Fast" that's open source: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rocketshipapps.adblockfast
