I can't find anything of the sort in any of the F-Droid repos.
There is this, which bills itself as "AndrOpen Office is the world's first port of OpenOffice for Android. (You can view, edit, insert and export office documents using full features of the OpenOffice)", seems active (last update was yesterday), and at least seems to have some source code available here. Whether it's all open source or not, I can't tell. And I have no idea how well it works either.
Edit: I tried installing the AndrOpen Office app, but when I ran it, it seemed to get stuck "Opening OpenOffice". This may be particular to my device though.

Run Crouton if possible, install wine, and run office 2013, libreoffice, openoffice
Sideload crossover in Android and run libreoffice
There is AndrOpen Office app which is great. but has small things that i don't like.
Selecting cells in spreadsheets a bit weird. Enter data in to cells requires to many extra steps.
There's a port of Openoffice for android but it's only really usable if you have a mouse and keyboard plugged in, because it uses the same user interface as the desktop version.

I haven't used it on my chromebook, but OpenOffice has a (unofficial) port on android, called AndrOpen Office: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.andropenoffice&hl=en_US
AndrOpen Office is OpenOffice packaged into android.
However, the UI is... painful.
AndrOpen Office - essentially Open Office ported to Android
What's wrong with openoffice-based apps?

I'm sure I saw another, but can't find it.
For most people, iPad is probably better. But some of us (or at least, me) android for the following reasons (would be glad to know if there are equivalent or better apps on iPad):
As far as the processor goes, my Tab S (2014) is still plenty fast even with underclocking (to save battery and avoid overheating) - sufficient for browsing and reading. I am looking for an upgrade for a stylus in particular.
Also, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.andropenoffice Even if I don't know if it still works on recent firmwares.
