Classic from Huskydev. It's has an incredible amount of settings. It's real pretty in a classy way too. You can remove whatever you don't want and make it really simple, or just have a few complications on the screen, or a lot. Whatever suits you.

It's paid for full version, but the free version is fine, too: I've been happy with HusyDev Classic and HuskyDev Everyday.

I use this one. Highly functional and very lightweight. Sticks to a very simple appearance which some might not agree with, but there are a lot of customization options. (Pretty much every element can be tweaked.)
It's offered as free, but it's really $1 (IIRC) to get most of the customization. The dev is also active and gave me feeback recently, so that's a plus.
Search HuskyDev in playstore. They have 2 watch faces with build in launcher. (top middle button). First tap gives you 6 recent apps, other screens (available via tap right) give you alphabetical list of apps. A truly cool integration if launcher and watch face. Also, this watch face surprised me as ambient mode is actually readable (not perfect but readable) in direct sunlight (Q founder watch).
Both faces are the same, it's just a question if you prefer analog or digital.
As for their other watch faces from same dev I didn't try them so I can't comment.
If you like analog: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=huskydev.android.watchface.classic
If you like digital: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=huskydev.android.watchface.everyday
Digital one is my daily driver for days now. Love how you can quickly access brightness via app launcher. There is watch setting and even quick access to music. Another cool part is weather. Complete weather picture and forecast (tap right after opening weather) via one tap.
Add fitness (also multiple pages with all sort of stats) and battery (opens up with page that gives you battery, temperature and time since last charge, phone battery is here as well).
Hope this helps.
Cheers!
Yeah, the battery is a non issue for me since I don't mind charging it once a day when I'm showing. And it's beautiful as a watch.
This classic watch face? I'm using Cronosurf wave. It took a little getting used to cause it's got a lot going on but I quite like it. Especially the dimmed always on display
Facer seems to require the android phone app just to download and select faces.
WatchMaker seems similar. Maybe someone with an iPhone can actually confirm. You might be able to sideload or use a file manager to actually set the custom faces.
There are some standalone watch faces that did work though, like this one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=huskydev.android.watchface.classic however some of the configuration options seem tied to the Android phone app still. Over time I think watch faces will become more and more standalone.
I use Classic watch face by HuskyDEV. It has everything you would want on your watch face. Steps, very accurate weather, builtin launcher, watch battery and much much more and very easy to program. I like the digital watch face so I dropped the watch hands. I can even control my bluetooth poweramp music from this watch face. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=huskydev.android.watchface.classic&hl=en
