Another game like that is Exiled Kingdom. It's an rpg that you can play in its entirety as a fighter or rogue but you can pay a small, one-time fee to unlock two additional classes to play as.
Edit: You can't play it in it's entirety but you can play enough to get a feeling if you like it or not. It's basically a long demo that lets you buy the full game within the game rather than having a separate demo on the app store.
Exiled Kingdoms. It's an old-school, open-world RPG developed by just one guy and hands down the most immersive game I've played on Android, with plenty of humor too.
Exiled Kingdoms! Seems bleak at start but has incredible depth and a huge (really) open world to explore. Plus the real time fights require skill/tactics as opposed to simple hack'n slash.
PSP - Brandish the Dark Revenant, Ys Chronicles 1&2, Ys The Oath in Felghana, Ys The Ark of Napishtim, Ys Seven, Nayuta no Kiseki, Gurumin (Most of these are on PC too so you can buy them there to support the awesome developer Falcom. Ys Chronicles is on Android as well with controller support.)

I've been having some fun playing this. Some people are turned off by the ultra old school graphic and control style but I personally like it. One time IAP of $4. Haven't played it a ton so can't suggest buying it but there's enough free campaign to get a good idea for sure.
Exiled Kingdoms is an open world offline rpg featuring roles, dialogue (like in Witcher3), and secrets. It's not meant to be easy, I'm still struggling in the desert myself.
Play it for free until you get far enough that you want to buy. No energy, no ads. Just a game, like they used to be.
A LOT of Exiled Kingdoms. It's a full offline RPG like Oblivion. There's plenty to explore, quests to complete, and dungeons to raid. It's free up to level 8, but that should take a few hours. I'm level 15 and have spent 25 hours so far. Love it.

My favorite game to play while listening to audiobooks is Troll Patrol.
I was looking for almost the exact same thing - try exiled kingdoms. There's a free demo that you can play up to level 8, and if you like it you can buy the game. One payment, no other bullshit after that. It's open world, interesting story, quests, lots of items, etc. No internet required.
Emulated diablo like games...I dont know many to be honest. Not even native android ones... some on pc but...

Exiled Kingdoms! Apart from the great story and depth, it's real time battles really need some tactics to master the game. However, in the early game it's still a bit dull hack'n slash, but later with more gear and special abilities it's really awesome.

I've been playing a LOT of Exiled Kingdoms lately. It's a funky Diablo clone with DOS era graphics and TONS of typos in the dialog trees, but it's incredibly charming and fun to play if you like dungeon crawlers. One small purchase unlocks all character classes and the full map, no other IAPs or annoying cool down tactics. Legit old school fantasy action.
Same here, I'll buy it right away if it goes on sale. If I run out of trial content, I'll probably buy it for full price anyway, it's not that expensive.

Sorry, I thought it was ported to Android. There are the BG and Neverwinter Nights games. Exiled Kingdoms is a favorite. Neo scavenger has a fallout feel.

Exiled Kingdoms , The Dark Book , and Flare Bring Diablo II Back are all strong Diablo like games without any extras BS.
Exiled Kingdoms, The Dark Book, and Dungeon Quest (another good loot ARPG) also have built in controller support.
If anyone uses a mouse and keyboard or wants to figure out how to get controllers working check out this Flare port rather than the one on the Play store.

Has a "unique" graphic style, but don't let that scare you, underneath it's an old school rpg. Free version is great.
Their are some solid games out there..you just need to dig a little..
Trese Brothers do some great turn based strategy games.
Exiled kingdoms has wasted a good few hours for me lately. it's still beta so it's a little rough,but still hits the spot for old school RPG hack n slash..
Andors trail is also great given that it's a free app..such a shame the updates stopped..
My point is,if you stick to the top lists your gonna find the usual p2w crap and the odd flappy/angry bird clone..Their is quality content out there if you look hard enough..
I picked up Exiled Kingdoms recently, and went ahead and paid the premium for it (< $5 USD). Its a bit tough and rough around the edges, but it has a lot of good systems in place. It's old school to some extent.
