Hm, did you buy the phone outside of your country? That was a problem for me when I wanted to update my Nova 2i. I then used the Huawei Firmware Finder app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teammt.gmanrainy.huaweifirmwarefinder
I have one just updated to Oreo with Google Now launcher. Don't have many UI annoyances.
Based on advice on forums, I used this app to find the right firmware, set the proxy on my wifi per instructions, and downloaded the correct full OTA for my region.

You could try using firmware finder, it finds the latest compatible firmware for your device and gives you methods in which you can download and install it.
I haven't had any lag in the Nougat update. Hold off that replacement!!
If you're having issues with Nougat OTA update being pushed out to you, install Firmware Finder app and follow this video. It will probably resolve the glitch :)
Redmi 3S Prime took the 7k ultra budget phone market by storm besides RN3, but their newer 4, 4A and 4X aren't good. Still the best in 7k but unimpressive, they probably set standards too high for themselves too.
The 625 in RN4 was probably aped because of it being a "more SoT" "more battery" popular chip, but I find that compared to A72 cores a huge loss in performance terms.
One point to note is that India is a tropical country, and 28 nm chips probably don't work in favour due to heat, so 14 nm 625 is better in a way. Not justifying things, but well whatever :/
Try updating to Nougat, and tell me if problem still exists. Then probably you should get a replacement or repair.
Get Firmware Finder from the store. It'll show the latest Firmware for you phone available. Just be aware though, you can't use it to update your phone anymore.
I am trying it too, I downloaded the firmware from here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teammt.gmanrainy.huaweifirmwarefinder
and I tried to install it from flashdisk connected using USB-OTG and this manual: https://emui.altervista.org/guide/firmware-upgrade.html
But it is failing
You can donwload it from play store and yes it is a third party app. It has a downloading mechanism with vpn but it didn't work. you can have a try. At least you can verify that there is a update and it will come to your region.

Yeah you can't update past EMUI 8.0.
Its stated in the blurb on the Play Store....

>Supported versions of EMUI for installing via proxy ✅Fully supported EMUI 4 and below ✅EMUI 5 and EMUI 8 supported only if firmware was passed the availability check ❌EMUI 8.1 not suppored. You can download and install via TWRP.
I don't wanna have to root my phone to be able to get future firmware/security updates. Gotta wait till April next year for my recontract and new phone. Gonna be looking to get a Google One phone as then I just get stock android and no pissing about :)
The general Android update issue with OEM is just so stupid now I've been even considering getting iPwned! Was hoping Huawei would be different but instead of no updates, I got a phone that wouldn't update till I got a 3rd party app that fixed it for them and now Huawei seem to have broken that for the time being.
