Is anyone using GnuCash? I like their desktop app and I wonder how well does their desktop/app sync work and how functional is the app in general.
GNUCash.

If you are Linux user, it's a well known software for recording financial transactions. You can do more if you dig deeper. Going from what you want, I think this is best. The app is pretty basic. Simply record your income and expense. It will automatically make a report.
I use this app for android, it's very handy and 100% open source. I once reported a small bug to the developer and they fixed it within a couple of days. You can also export the data and import it in the fully fledged desktop version. Highly recommended :)

YNAB may now be prohibitively too expensive to subscribe to. There's a 3 month free trial for it though so OP should still check it out. Also GNUCash is meant to be just as good as YNAB, and it's free.

I'm with YNAB BTW, but only because our fee is grandfathered.
If your current setup/workflow works for you, then by all means keep using it.
However, I think a better tool for tracking expenses would be something like Gnucash, and there's a Gnucash mobile client (for Android) too.

GnuCash on Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.gnucash.android&hl=de
Einmal im Jahr transferiere ich dann die Daten vom Handy ins Windows-GnuCash.
GNUcash, its quite complex though compared to the others but it's completely free, open-sourced(no malicious code), and is ad-free.
Use GNUCash.

Edit: I also take a picture of every receipt, as soon as I get it. That way if I forget to enter the transaction I can do it later.
GnuCash per android ti permette di creare le categorie a tuo piacimento.
Non è però banalissima, bisogna leggere il tutorial per capirla perché è fatta secondo principi di tesoreria (partita doppia)
If you don't mind doing manual data entry you might want to check into GnuCash. There's even an Android app.
I'm not sure if by "app" OP meant a mobile app. At any rate, there's a GnuCash app for Android.
GNU Cash has a mobile app by the way: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.gnucash.android
GnuCash is an amazing option due to its accounting-level features and stability - https://gnucash.org/
It has an Android app (which you can download from the Yalp store instead of the Google Play store): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.gnucash.android
I'd recommend using GnuCash Android. It allows you to keep a double-entry system on your mobile. While I manually enter transactions from GnuCash Android into my journal (using the excellent hledger-iadd), you can also export from GnuCash Android and convert that file into the ledger-cli format using a number of tools out there.
There is also a fledgling attempt at a ledger app for Android, but that's been dormant for more than a year now.
gnucash is a bit mobile https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.gnucash.android&hl=en
I use GnuCash for recording all my transactions. They have an Android app, which I haven't tried.
You might also like Expensify for recording transaction on the go. You take a photo of your receipt and it automagically extracts the information from it.
Es gibt doch auch einen Gnucash client für Android.
Are you aware of GnuCash for Android?
For anyone with an android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.gnucash.android&hl=en_US
(I'm a user)
GnuCash
All kinds of business management tools, small business accounting, double entry bookkeeping.
Here's a review of it:

It's free and open source, with desktop versions for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
There is an Android app, but I think it may be just a companion app to be used in conjunction with the desktop version.
Android version on google play:

Van androidra is GnuCash. Én használom, teljesen jó. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.gnucash.android Az asztali verziót kissé bonyolultabb használni, de érdemes.
For Linux users (for whom YNAB is unavailable) try GnuCash. It's available as an Android app, too.
