I have no problem with Google fit. I use the Heart Trace app to have my watch measure my heart rate every 5 minutes and then that is imported in to Google fit. So I get a nice graph out of that. And everything else works perfectly

I moved from Pebble to this watch and one of the most upsetting things was that I'd only recently paid out for a wide body strap for the Pebble. Happily, with a squeeze, it fitted the misfit and looks great.
I've given up entirely with Misfit apps except for their watchface which I've edited to display Google Fit data.
I've installed Heart Rate OS2 on my phone which gives me a nice graph of readings it takes from the watch every 30 minutes. Google Fit is also able to display these readings on the watch.
All in all, great watch, ignoring the in built Misfit apps
~~EDIT: better (and free) heart monitor https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.magic09.magicheartraterecorder~~
BETTER EDIT: You don't need a heart monitoring app! Google Fit reads periodically on this watch anyway and gives a very nice graph on the watch
Heart Trace works perfectly for me. It syncs to Google Fit and you can set up how often it checks your heart rate as well as how often it syncs the data to its phone app / Google Fit.
Works absolutely issue free since a few months for me and I couldn't notice it affecting my battery on my Huawei Watch 1.

If yours has yet to get the official Google love, I suggest trying HeartTrace. I've used it successfully on a HW1 and Misfit Vapor. It's pretty much as good of a workaround as you can get.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.magic09.magicheartraterecorder&hl=fr for heart rate monitoring during the day and export to Fit
For the watchface, a watchface with Google Fit complications should do the trick
could you try Heart Trace or Heart Rate OS
Since getting my Pixel, I haven't had Fit register my heart rate automatically. Asking / Manually having Fit measure my heart rate seemed to be the only way.
I eventually downloaded Heart Trace which has been working relatively well in its place.
Intresting. I've always used Heart Trace without any issues so idk if it's got anything to do with the sensor or not.
There are additional apps that provide continuous heart rate monitoring such as this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.magic09.magicheartraterecorder Maybe you should try one of them.
I didn't use the watch long enough without HR tracking to say anything about that. (Also I've switched to Heart Trace in the meantime.)
But taking the watch off the charger at around 10am, it still has 50+% at around 8pm for me. So that's more than enough for a work day. I recharge it in the evening before going to bed (using Sleep as Android at night) and after waking up until I leave for work.
I use Heart Trace with my Android phone and I'm quite happy with it. It also syncs with Google Fit. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.magic09.magicheartraterecorder
Not sure about compatibility with iPhone though. Worth taking a look?
I use heart trace. I started using that because I couldn't figure out how to get Google Fit to auto check it.
Oh boy. Well, if it's anything like the original Ticwatch pro, your options are pressing the bottom button when its in full essential mode (just running the LCD. All other smart features off, so no saving that data) or when using the TicExercise app to track a workout. Also, if you want a better app for testing and saving heart rate data at set intervals check out Heart Trace. Might be different on the 4g but it doesn't seem like they changed much on the OS.
lots of wearos have heart rate monitors, i've never heard of one that has a very good sensor but the charge 2 sensor isn't really good at intense heart rate levels. so, i would guess many wear os devices would be maybe as good as the charge 2 sensor. you might need an app to get more regular heart rate readings like this - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.magic09.magicheartraterecorder&hl=en
I tried cardiogr.am and it worked ok for a while but then quit recording my heart rate. I might try it again but I have been using Heart Trace for a while and it works pretty good. I have only had I believe one day it didn't record my heart rate and I think that is because I wore my LG Watch Sport too loose.
I use an app called Heart Trace https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.magic09.magicheartraterecorder&hl=fr . It measure my HR at intervalls and send the data to Google Fit.
It can also export data as CSV file
I suggest you to contact the dev and ask for a new feature : atomatic export in real time in a CSV file (as soon as the mesure is done) to a FTP or an URL.
This way you can have your realtime HR monitoring on PC
Heart trace can detect charging but not when its removed. Also the UI is great.

I've never had Fit automatically grab my heart rate.
I'm using the Heart Trace app and it works great.

1) Yes, you should get a different watchband. This will increase the comfort wearing the watch a lot.
2) I never compared the steps taken by the watch vs. what I already walked. But compared to the iWatch of my wife when walking around all day, the numbers were very close. But I use Google Fit for tracking (disabled the Misfit Activity app). Also I've enabled Google Fit tracking on my phone so it'll probably take a median of both values or so.
HR can be tracked by Google Fit during workouts or you can have e.g. Heart Trace or HR OS2 take readings every 5-60 minutes.
Also, since this is a smart watch, features like movement reminders can be added by installing apps, e.g. this one. (Never tried that app.)
Sleep tracking works great with Sleep as Android. Again, this is a smartwatch, no all-in-one fitness tracker device.
3) While I can get the assistant to active reliably, it often complains about not having an Internet connection and thus can't do what I asked it for. So that's a problem with this watch or its firmware.
4) I've set my vibration to "long" which works best for me.
5) It's not the bezel, that's touch sensitive, but the outer part of the touch screen. Gliding my finger across the ridge between screen and outer bezel works great for me.
6) No problems there at all. Just make sure the charging cable points to the right and the plastic pin is on the upper side. I just throw my watch on it and wiggle it a bit - then it starts charging just fine.
7) WearOS allows for apps to be installed onto the watch itself, but it also work with legacy "Android Wear" apps. Those get installed onto your phone and then will show up in the watch's Play Store to be installed onto the watch. (Because the watch part communicates with the app on the phone.) So a Wear app being incompatible with the Vapor means you should've installed it to your phone and then you could've installed it on the watch.
I thought I was missing something too but fit just sucks. Download Heart Trace! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.magic09.magicheartraterecorder
I would disable Moto Body and use a combo of Google Fit and Heart Trace:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.magic09.magicheartraterecorder
Sorry, I meant Heart Trace! Me sometimes.
There are quite a few third-party apps that record your heart rate at regular intervals and sync it with Google Fit. Here's several (I've never tried them, though):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.magic09.magicheartraterecorder
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cardiogram.v1
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dungelin.heartrate
They haven't enabled it yet, only the LG Sport and Huawei Watch 2.
I would recommend this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.magic09.magicheartraterecorder
This isn't a feature of Fit. I would suggest checking out Heart Trace:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.magic09.magicheartraterecorder&hl=en
Thanks, I tried it but it doesn't work.
Heart Trace works great, is free and has a 5min interval.
If you want Heart Rate tracking, check out this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.magic09.magicheartraterecorder&hl=en
I use Heart Trace to bridge that gap: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.magic09.magicheartraterecorder
fyi, you can use an app like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.magic09.magicheartraterecorder to do continuous heart rate on any android wear watch
I use Heart Trace, basic but does the job and syncs with Google Fit.
