If u liked Bloon td , you might like infinitode , it's an endless tower defense kinda game , there a huge skill tree and lots of towers and like the title says it's infinite no. Of waves.
I've been chugging along on Infinitode on my phone. Very clean and basic looking, but the skill tree is gigantic. Fair warning for completionists.

If you really liked Gemcraft and want a mobile version to play, a game called Infinitode on Google Play is virtually the same. It's not as good looking as Gemcraft in its heyday, but it plays nearly identically with tower upgrades and variations, etc.

i can recommend infinite tower defense
its endless mode only with preset maps (10 i think) which need to be unlocked by beating a certain number of waves in previous maps and paying in game currency
it has a pretty big upgrade tree, which also is used to unlock new towers. The upgrades are pretty generic though (increase dmg, range, atkspeed, utility, etc..)
the towers gain levels during a map, which increases a towers unique stat. you can additionally increase one of the 3 basic stat (range, dmg, atkapeed) and a tower specific stat (like stun chance, rotation speed, chain lightning dmg)
there are also tile specific buffs for your towers
finally you get ingame currency and tiles after a run.
with the tiles you can create your own map to play, which is really nice. even better is the fact that you still earn ingame currency and tiles while doing custom maps
the game is still 'young' so the balancing kinda feels a bit off (upgrade costs for 'better' towers are so high, that its more efficient to just spam the basic tower and one or two utility) maybe im just a scrub and dont know how to play/am not progressed far enough to utilize the 'better' towers

Infinitode: Great tower defense game that has a large skill tree. It's F2P with no ads and I haven't spent a dollar on it. The game doesn't make you feel like you need to. I didn't realize there was a shop for a couple days.
Ancestor: My Google review: Actually fantastic. The art is beautiful, the tutorial is well made, and the gameplay is solid. It's a very "small" game. What I mean is, it only has one mode that you play over and over, but honestly, I really like it. I can see it turning some people off due to its repetitiveness, but it's like an In-n-Out menu: not many choices, but everythings made to prefection. Also, you can get rid of the involuntary ads by purchasing anything in the store for $0.99. Good devs. Good devs
Cat Quest: I'm sure everyone is aware of this openworld rpg by now, but it's a recent one for me. It's cute, it's fun, and it's really well made. It controls well, too.
HIT: I'm recommending this for two reasons. A) You asked for recent games, and this is the most recent. I played it 1 year ago and it was really fun, but I ultimately removed it during my "purge timesink apps" phase. B) The devs have been very responsive to me. I have an issue with my account and theyre really on top of it. It is Nexon, so if you have a bad view of them already, I probably can't make you play the game, but this one doesn't feel as cash grabby as other games they've made.
There are some big turn offs, for some (e.g. energy, auto battle), but I had fun playing it and am giving it another chance.

Try infinitode and Bloon td 5 , I love those games , I have put countless hours into both the games. Alternativly you could try over the top tower defense , yep you read that correctly , "over the top tower defense"
