OverDrive - Check out e-books, audiobooks, etc. from your local library (if supported)
Tip: When a book you are reading expires, you can place a hold at multiple libraries and your place in the book, bookmarks, etc. stay regardless of which one gets it available to you first.
If you're interested in looking into audiobooks I recommend looking into the overdrive media app. Depending on where you are and your local library, you may be able to borrow eBooks and audiobooks. Android app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.overdrive.mobile.android.mediaconsole
My last trip out to Terlingua/Big Bend, I decided to plan ahead instead of having nothing to listen to south of Ft. Stockton. No radio, no cell data, nothing. A buddy of mine is always listening to books via Bluetooth ear buds connected to his phone, so I asked where/how he downloads them.
Harris County Public Library! (I realize OP's post is about the city library, but this is closely related.)
Turns out you can install the OverDrive app for free and check out audiobooks for free.
I listened to books all the way out to Terlingua and all the way back. Oddly, an audiobook seems less distracting than music, and it's easy to pause and re-start, go chapter-to-chapter, etc.
Pretty neat service for free.
Check to see if your local library provides access to Overdrive, which has access to (completely legal) audiobooks, ebooks, magazines, and apparently some videos. Also, since this is /r/androidapps I can't forget to link the app, which I almost did.. Overdrive app

Here are a couple of books you might find on in an audio format that could appeal to a wide range of tastes:
The Golden Compass/Norther Lights (book one of His Dark Materials Trilogy), by Philip Pullman
The Poisonwood Bible, by Barbara Kingsolver
Mr. Penumbra's 24-hour Bookstore: A Novel, by Robin Sloan

I use the Overdrive app on android all the time to listen to free audiobooks. It links to your library account(s) and lets you reserve and download audiobooks to listen to for ~1 month at a time. And because it is all run through the library accounts, it is free!
Overdrive https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.overdrive.mobile.android.mediaconsole
It lets you check out ebooks from the library and I listen while driving and doing household chores. It's pretty great.
A redditor posted this app in one of those "what app can you not live without" threads a while ago. It's an app that lets you borrow ebooks and stuff from your local library digitally called OverDrive https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.overdrive.mobile.android.mediaconsole&hl=en
You sign up with your local library and then you can just borrow the stuff to your phone for a set amount of time then it gets taken off. Essentially it's a digital version of your library without ever having to physically go there.
Oh no, maybe they're starting the forced move early? I thought they were supposed to support Overdrive through the end of the year. Can you install it from this link?
I see.
Read up on it again. Learned that it will be removed from app stores by February 2022 but it is still available on Google play store.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.overdrive.mobile.android.mediaconsole
Still see it in Google Play myself.
It is also still in the Amazon AppStore.
Not sure about Apple.
Although, I'm mostly cool with it in it's current state because it grants me access to my public library's selection of free audiobooks.
I use a couple. This morning it was Overdrive, for free library content. Otherwise it's Listen Audiobook Player for local MP3s I've ripped myself from Audiobook CDs I buy from used book stores.
Listen is great because it has Tasker intents and is more polished. Overdrive is jankier, but all the free content is worth it.
Typically I just either use audible or get a book from OverDrive which allows me to use my library card to check out books, tv shows, audio books, and a whole lot more. My issue is you have 7 days to listen and while there is a speed up function I still don't always have the time. I'll for sure check out you recommendation though. The author sounds really interesting.
i use the audible app since i buy books from there. OverDrive is decent as well, i use it when i borrow an audiobook from the library
Overdrive Media Console. Lets you checkout free digital content (ebooks, audiobooks) from your local libraries.

If you live in the US there is a good chance that your local library gives you access to audio books through overdrive or libby (made by the same company). With your library login you can rent audio books when you have internet. The books auto return even without internet (you can't play them any more) so no late fees.

And talk to your local library. Overdrive may be one of several options available to you.
I don't know what this new app does, but NLB has been using the OverDrive app (Android, iOS) to provide it's e-Library service for the past few years. It opens up access to the library's full collection of eBooks and audiobooks. Here's the instructions on how to access the service.
Here is one OverDrive
I used to play a lot of videogames myself. And let me preface by saying there is absolutely nothing wrong with videogames as a concept or a hobby. But in my personal life I've found a lot more fulfillment in placing a more physical hobby as a priority above gaming, and having gaming become a secondary hobby. Same with Anime. I have many a fond memory watching Miyazaki films, Akira, Attack on Titan, Cowboy Bebop or Samurai Champloo.
With that said, here's what I think.
You're young. That doesn't mean you should disregard any feelings you do or do not have, but rather you should accept that you are still learning and growing up and acclimating to then environment around you. It doesn't sound like your home is a really bad place honestly. Maybe uncomfortable and not ideal, but not terrible. Look at your surroundings and learn from them. My Dad was a drunk who was never around, and when I did finally live with him he was physically abusive to his wife and really badly verbally abusive. Instead of using this as an excuse to be damaged goods I learned from his behavior of what not to do, and how to overcome that and become a good man in spite of that bump in the road.
Distance yourself from the games and the web in general. I have no science to back this statement up, it's purely anecdotal, so take it with a grain of salt. I don't pretend to be an expert in any way on the subject but as a relatively well-adjusted person with a couple decades of life experience under my belt I'd like to think this holds up even under scrutiny. Gaming and anime are cool, and they are enjoyable, but they can and do provide to many people not only a distraction from life's difficulties but also a stand-in for life accomplishments which can start you on a cycle of completing things and finishing things but never really achieving anything. Gaming really simulates real life without any of the actual risk or attainment. It's great as a stress reliever and I really love escapist fantasy, because there are aspects of life I just want to escape. It's normal. You are normal. But this, in my eyes, is a facet of our personalities that needs to be tempered to live a really fulfilling life.
Exercise and cooking are really really great hobbies. Not only are they super productive but they make you very attractive to the opposite sex and make you into a generally more interesting person. I would suggest trying to learn more about these things and diving in.
Having said all of that I do have a few straight forward bits of general advice that I think will help you get far in life.
If your parents are not the role models you seek, find a new mentor. You can find this type of person in a work environment, in people in your community involved in similar things as you, in a church, in a school, in teachers, really anywhere. Find someone you aspire to be like and talk to them. It sounds simple and that's because it is.
Feed those hobbies more. Cooking and exercise. Try different ways of getting better at each through contests, local gyms, culinary classes, cook-offs, spartan races. Sign up for these things and really try, and be okay when you fail. Because it's attempting that is most important. That's what drives more goal setting and persistent attempts at improvement.
Start reading, and if you don't like to read, download the app Overdrive to listen to free audiobooks from your library. Lots of people say they can't read or aren't interested in reading and that's fine. I won't say everyone who reads is a happy person or something, but I will say that reading is one of the great modern ways of traveling and culturing oneself without spending a dime(or at least without spending much money). Android version iOS version
Go on walks. This one works great with the last one. Not only does it get you up and moving, out of your environment that you don't like, but it gives you a reason to stick some headphones in and listen to a book, to get out in your community and do some discovering, to get some cardio in.
Join a sports team. Don't get caught up in how good you are at the sport. Find a sport you enjoy playing, or even a sport you think you COULD enjoy playing, and get on the team. Try out. Make friends. Talk with people. Get good at the sport. Or be bad at the sport. If you're bad at the sport, use that as a reason to spend time with someone better. Be humble. Let them teach you how to be less bad at the sport. If you really hate it, then after some time quit, and stay in touch with the friends you made while trying, and try another sport.
Be patient. You're 15 years old. It's alright to feel alone. It's alright to feel like garbage. It's alright to feel stuck. Your life may feel like it's almost over, but it hasn't even started. I mean, a quick google search will show you many many people didn't find success until much later in life, and you could replace success with self fulfillment.
Listen man, everything is gonna be alright. Enjoy the games and enjoy the anime, but don't put so much pressure on yourself at such a young age. If you truly don't feel any emotions you should seek professional help, but I will give you my unprofessional opinion that most of the time at your age, it's really difficult to tell if that's the problem or if you just think it's the problem. The more aware you are with that truth and in tune you are with the possibility of that, the better you are. A lot of the time feelings like that manifest themselves as such due to a feeling of insignificance or a lack of attention. I speak from a similar place, and I've turned alright. You'll get through this. Be patient and keep trying, don't ever give up and you will persevere through life.
I recommend overdrive if available

Trying having the Overdrive app. That can be found at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.overdrive.mobile.android.mediaconsole. It is service that may public libraries use around the world to provide ebooks, emagazines, and sometimes movies depending on the media each library choses for its own subscription and library members. If you have a library card, you can register it through the app and get access to a multitude of books to read. A way to constructively distract yourself could be to read a good book series. Try the Wings of Fire series of books (including the text-only books and graphic novels) or Lone Wolf. An app for the Lone Wolf series is found at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.GDVGames.LoneWolfBiblio&gl or you may download the game book series for from from the Anon Project at https://projectaon.org/en/Main/Books. The author, Joe Dever, is now passed away, but gave permission for his works at the Anon Project to be viewed and shared freely, but not for users to resell his works.
Other ways at to sign up for a free online library membership at the Open Library at openlibrary.org. You only need a username, password, and an email. No personal ID is required or asked for. You can get a disposable email at 10minutemail.com.
I think the first thing is to get one of the apps. If you have an Android phone, one of these:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.overdrive.mobile.android.mediaconsole
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.overdrive.mobile.android.libby
The first time I used the app I had to enter my library card number at least three times before it saved, but it got better, so don't get frustrated.
A disclaimer, I haven't even read or listened all these myself, so I'm sorting by global popularity and only stating the obvious to avoid spoilers.
The Thrawn series by Zimothy Zahn (Thrawn, Thrawn: Alliances, Thrawn: Treason) are 3 of the 6 most popular Star Wars audiobooks when Overdrive catalogue is sorted by global popularity. And if those ratings are to be believed, each one gets better than the last. You might know from the cartoons or the comics, Thrawn is one of the most complicated characters - a successful leader of the Empire from a minority background.
Aftermath by Chuch Wendig picked up where the first movie trilogy leaves off. Ranked #5
If you want to follow an interesting villain, there is Dooku by Cavan Scott, ranked #6
If you watched the Clone Wars cartoons, I might suggest Ahsoka by E.K. Johnston, ranked #8, and Master & Apprentice by Claudi Gray ranked #3.
I think Galaxy's Edge: Black Spire by Delilah S. Dawson (ranked #7) introduces more new personalities and settings.
Also, if your local libraries have graphic novels, there is a chance they may have some of the canon published by from Marvel Comics. The older non-canon stuff isn't as good quality anyway. If you make a request to your library, please request the graphic novels and not the individual comics. https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Marvel_Comics
Title: [RG] The /r/Jung Reading Group (Preliminary Message)
[Previous thread Followup: New Jung forum / wiki / discussion group (2).]
The Idea
The idea of an /r/Jung Reading Group has elicited excitement from a number of members, so, let's form that group! The purpose of the group is to read Jung and Jung-related material together with other people. Knowing that other people are reading material at the same time lends the material importance, allows for discussion of the material with people who are currently reading it, and provides a good time for elaboration on a current subject. If anyone has been pushing off reading Jung for a better time, now is that time.
Eventually, there can be multiple groups to read the wide range of material that interests the audience, with each group deciding its own material and pace. To get things started, it will be limited to one group, reading the Collected Works, at an approximate pace of 1-2 pages per day, finishing on weekends. There is no need to read any pages on a specific day. The pace is only used as a guideline to measure how much time is required to keep the group moving at a leisurely but definite pace. Ultimately, the time can be adjusted for the material and the group, once we see how it is coming along.
The Opening Material
To keep it basic and simple, the opening material will be the Tavistock Lectures. There are five lectures, each with a discussion following it. Each lecture and each discussion will be a separate goal. A table is provided below listing the projected material and goals, which will be adjusted as required. After the Tavistock Lectures, the following material will be up to a vote. I would suggest we continue with the next two sections in the same volume: Symbols and the Interpretation of Dreams, and The Symbolic Life. These three sections are a good overview of a lot of basic material, and they are easy reading too. After that we would switch to volume 7, Two Essays on Analytical Psychology, which is a basic introduction to Jung's theories. The table listing below assumes this order for the sake of illustration.
Acquiring the Material
Each member will be responsible for getting a ahold of the material for themselves. There are many options available, including the physical and electronic versions of the books. Amazon, ebay, and ABEbooks are just a few places to buy them, both first and second hand. Public libraries may have a few options as well: They may have the book, they may be able to get it via the inter-library loan program, or they may have a subscription to programs like Overdrive (website, Android, iOS) and BookMyne (Android, iOS), where you can borrow the electronic version of the book via the website or app. Google Books and Google Shopping may provide some options, and archive.org might have something available, though often there is a queue.
The Tavistock Lectures are at the beginning of volume 18 of the Collected Works, which is also known as The Symbolic Life. But note, the third essay in the volume is also carries the same name. The Tavistock Lectures are also available as a separate volume.
Joining the Group
Everyone is welcome to read along with the group even if they do not "officially" participate. Even so, readers are requested to please note their desire to read along. This lends importance to the material, encourages others to join, gives a sense of community, allows for easier polling for the reading rate and material, and is a good way to see if everyone actually has the material before we start a new volume. In any case, joining the group does not obligate you to read the material in any way.
Projected Dates
The projected start date is September 1st to let everyone decide if they want to join and to get the material. We can start earlier, such as on August 15th, if everyone who wants to join has the material by then. Please note if you want to participate, if you have the material, and if you do not have the material, when you expect to have it.
The current and projected material and goals will be stickied at the top of this subreddit. Any threads based on the reading group should be predicated with the [RG] tag. This includes questions, discussions, elaborations, or anything regarding the group in any way.
Projected Schedule
The following table lists the projected material and goals. Each section is separated by a listing of the entire section in bold. The date is listed in the ISO date format with dashes (YYYY-MM-DD).

I do store music on OneDrive though.
