They were using ReleafApp
They ask what symptoms you're trying to help, then they ask the user the strain, thc percent, etc, record how much you smoke, then they ask you to rate, out of 5 stars how much your symptoms have improved. There's no option for like zero. I feel like using stars instead of 'out of 10 insert float here' encourages users to rate things 5 stars, where as I'd be less inclined to say that my symptoms improve 10 out of 10. Just my own two cents. I support cannabis research and believe there are beneficial effects, I just think science gotta science properly
The categories that they were studying were:
I just have a google sheet I use to track strain, where it's from, smell, taste, effects. But if you want to go real in depth you could use something like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.releafapp.releaf&hl=en_US
there's an app called "releaf" for iOS which allows you to log strain, cannabinoids, terpenes, percentages, effects, etc. if it's also on Android then it seems to be exactly what you're looking for.

Hey! Very cool that you're searching for your perfect strain. I love trying different strains and experimenting with them at home. It can be super fun.
The company I work for actually built an app that helps you log everything about how a certain strain is making you feel so you don't forget, and so you can learn from your past sessions and get a better idea of how certain strains might make you feel in the future. I hope this doesn't come across as spammy. I just wanted to share it with you in case you're interested:

We initially built it for medical cannabis patients but we're in the process of making a recreational version. To use the current app in a recreational way, just select "something else" from the symptom list when prompted.
Personally, I find that strains with CBD in them are really helpful for anxiety and depression. My favorite strains have a 1:1 ratio of THC to CBD (my dispensary refers to these as "type 2" strains) -- the THC gives me the creative thoughts I tend to chase after, and the CBD lessens the occurrence of racing thoughts. I tend to stay away from super high THC strains because they oftentimes make me feel couchlocked, a feeling I dislike, and paranoid.
But everyone is different, so it's worth experimenting! Best of luck :)
there is an app for android that is really good IMO, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.releafapp.releaf&hl=en.
Oh I HARD relate to that.
Honestly I just use a heat pack constantly and park in front of Netflix. Baths have been helping. Same with some really soft yoga. like this Or a softer one like this
One thing that did kinda long term help but isnt fool proof is noting down my 'pre-pain' symptoms. Things that were common before each flair. I get the runs, crave chocolate and my depression spikes the day before I have a bad pain flair. I really wish there was an easy answer because endo is already SO MUCH work but it really was just listening to my body.
Id still say I'm an everyday smoker, unfortunately, I wouldn't say I've found a life I can live without weed. I still sneak off for a smoke before I leave the house as a preemptive. But apps have helped me track when and how much, I found this to be fantastic.
So far so good for this tolerance break. If I find anything else helpful during month off I will DM you 🙂
Journal is a great idea, but I use the Releaf app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.releafapp.releaf
