This app? - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.comcast.hsf&hl=en when it first launches you will see a sign in screen. Once in map mode tap the three bars on the left > settings > automatically choose best connection = check. In android app permissions make sure the hotspots app has permissions to modify system settings.
I haven't used it since I got an S8, i'll test it out on my way home.
EDIT - It worked when I passed a hotspot, i did have to give Captiveportal access to my phone when it tried to connect initially.
App version 5.0.5 (551)
Phone Samsung S8/Android 7.0 Patch level 7-1-17
Do you have their app installed? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.comcast.hsf The autoconnect feature is one of the top complaints. I went through the same, multiple attempts to forget the SSID notwithstanding, until I uninstalled the app.
If your mobile device isn't on Xfinity Mobile (which appears to be the case based on your original post), you'll need to download the Xfinity WIfi Hotspots app for Android to automatically connect to the XFINITY
SSID. ~~Logging in manually will not work.~~ Logging in manually is possible, however, this will be required each time in order to successfully connect (see my comment below).
Have you installed the Xfinity WiFi Hotspots app from the Play Store? This should load the necessary profiles which will allow you to connect to Xfinity hotpots.
Sounds good but what exactly do you mean when you say "When u install the Xfinity Hot Spot in your phone"? Are you saying you connect to the hotspot on your phone, you install the xfinity hotspot app or something else?
I think he means it literally. It's like how I can connect to any Comcast/Xfinity wifi router around town. According to their app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.comcast.hsf&hl=en), there's wifi available almost all through the fan and carytown. That said, I've never tested it. I know it works in my gym and in my office downtown, which is all I really need it for.
Are you using the Xfinity wifi app? I had to download it to access the hotspots.
