There is a YouTube gaming website & app with a "Live" section, and you can type "gaming" Infront of a normal YouTube channel to get the YouTube gaming layout version. I'm still new to the YouTube Livestream viewing, but that's what I've learned so far other than the standard turn notifications on for a channel by clicking the little bell next to the subscribe button.
> there is no app for YouTube Gaming.
There are Youtube Gaming apps.
On Android : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.youtube.gaming
And iOS : https://itunes.apple.com/fr/app/youtube-gaming/id1009116743?mt=8
You can stream the SBS video to your youtube channel using the official Youtube Gaming app from Play Store (first force undistorted rendering as /u/-sxp- mentioned)
Have you tried streaming through YouTube Gaming? Wont stream to Twitch unfortunately, but a good alternative IMO.

Linkme tried. Heres the link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.youtube.gaming&hl=en
Note that it is just the Android app for Google Gaming that has not launched worldwide.
Google Gaming itself launched worldwide on day 1 (and you can watch the streams on mobile using the regular Youtube app - chat might be missing, though, didn't check).
Another alternative is to use the YouTube gaming app instead. Yes it uses the new look, but in a really good way and it looks and feels pretty good. You can watch non-gaming videos with it - you just have to search for specific videos or channels.
Linkme: YouTube Gaming.

odd they omitted chromecasting from the desktop website, but you can Chromecast any stream using the iOS or Android apps!
One thing I really like about the mobile apps is how easy it is to pick up after using the website (and vice versa). Although if you aren't familiar with Google's new design language it can be a lot at first.
Ask your player to record the screen with the YouTube Gaming App or another screen recorder. That will make it easier to see what is happening.
They should also check that other Daydream apps launch without any problems.
My shield tablet can do it natively to twitch, but you can use youtube gaming app on any android phone for youtube

Hey TakeoGaming, I believe that is a feature built into the YouTube Gaming App: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.youtube.gaming

Ya know how you can mirror your Pixel to a HDTV via chromecast?
If you want you can instead mirror Pixel to a computer screen by using an app called YouTube gaming.

Hey thanks for the tip - found the link to the competition...
I play and record live on an android tablet, stream music in the background live during the record. Use standard apple airbuds (with built in mic) for the recording, it seems to be a good enough balance by default when recording mic, background music and in-game sounds (with game music turned off). The app I use to record is youtube gaming (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.youtube.gaming&hl=en_GB) it's all very simple and easy to do - I'm planning on releasing a new style of vids soon so keep an eye on the channel!
It's not US only but I believe it's not available in some countries.
Here's the link for those that came here looking for it.

You mean the dedicated YouTube Gaming app that's going to be discontinued next March?

There is a Youtube Gaming app on android, that's working for me just fine.
What phone do you have? A lot of Android phones like Samsung Galaxy S/Note, LG's flagships, and many others come with gaming utilities built in. Including the ability to record or even live stream gameplay with audio (game audio or game audio plus microphone for voice over and even option to show the front cam at the same time).
On my Galaxy S10+ and my older S8+ if you swipe the notification shade down while playing a game you get a thing that says "tap to show game tools" giving you a bunch of options (screenshots https://imgur.com/a/uD1msxW ). If you have a stock Android device I can't be of much help, I've never had to look for a app to do these things because they are just built in. Hopefully someone can recommend a good app if that's the case.
Edit: According to this list https://www.maketecheasier.com/android-screen-recording-apps/
the "YouTube Gaming" app has a screen recording function built in. And since I'm guessing you want to upload to YouTube it of course will have that built in. Maybe worth a try. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.youtube.gaming
Or check out some of the other apps on that list in the first link.
I can only speak from an Android pov.
If you want to stream to YouTube, you can do so using the YouTube gaming app:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.youtube.gamingThough Google has stated that they are going to discontinue it, it is a relatively hassle free way to stream directly to YouTube. It does not offer you the full suite of possibilities as say OBS of course.
Another way to stream from Android is using this app:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobzapp.screenstream&hl=enYou can stream directly to a number of services. Streaming directly to twitch went pretty well. You can also stream to your computer via IP, but I've found that the bitrate is a bit worse. Could be because of my own home setup (don't have Gbps speed connections). For $5 it could be worth a shot as it does easily integrate into OBS (not sponsored).
Do be mindfull that it's a complete drain on your battery.
There's also loads of tutorials and suggestions on Google
There's an app called Youtube Gaming. I installed it on my android phone, dunno if it has the streaming feature on iOS.
I used it to live stream my phone screen to youtube. I did this actually while in Daydream so others could watch me play. But I am thinking maybe you can do the opposite direction. You can stream from a phone to youtube with the app (in regular phone mode not vr).
You can watch YouTube videos in Daydream in a virtual cinema or 360 videos... so the only thing I'm unsure of is whether you can actually watch live streamed gaming videos in Daydream. However in the video advertisement for Daydream+Youtube they show someone watching a live concert in Daydream via youtube.
